Three tracks you should check out from the Philippines! From Press Hit Play, Michelle Dee, SY·NC, GAT
“Pansamantala” by Press Hit Play
If you want a good cry, check out this music film by Kring Kim set to a song performed by Press Hit Play! “Pansamantala” is an emotional, heartwarming, yet very bittersweet track that serves as the perfect backdrop for this short film that can be described with the exact same words. Press Hit Play offers up a great performance, effortlessly setting the mood for a short, but impactful story in the music film.
“Reyna” by Michelle Dee
I will admit, when I first watched the clips of Michelle Dee performing this song at the Bench fashion show, I didn’t really know what to think. And I was actually looking forward to the song since I have liked Michelle Dee even before she was crowned Miss Universe Philippines. (She was on TARPHDME14 back in 2017 lolol) But after listening to the recorded version and now seeing the music video, I haven’t been able to get the song out of my head! For better or worse. Lol. It’s actually quite fun and definitely very catchy. And I think it suits Michelle Dee very well. Perfect song and theme for her debut single. But let’s see what else she can offer in her potential music career.
“PLS” by SY·NC
YouTube Recommendations usually point me toward great Korean and Japanese music. But this time, they finally point me toward a new Filipino artist! SY·NC is a new P-pop group which I know nothing about. But I definitely want to now after listening to their track “PLS”. Apparently, this is actually their 2nd single. But it’s the first I’ve heard of them. And it is definitely an excellent first impression! A solid pop song with great vibes. A touch of youthful nostalgia. And a charismatic performance from the group! I’ll be learning more about them from now on!
“Daleng Dale” by GAT
The Magno Twins (and all their contemporaries back then) were ahead of their time. And GAT remaking one of their hits “Daleng Dale” is proof of that. With just enough modern touches to the already great and fun song, GAT has effortlessly grabbed everyone’s attention. And deservedly so. They are able to make the song their own while keeping the original very much a part of its overall DNA. Needless to say, GAT is off to a fast start. And it will be great to follow them as they hopefully will release some original music soon too!
