One hour before the Paradise matching, Dongho’s angels are passive aggressively claiming their time with him. With Haelin choosing him, Youjin isn’t sure who she will pick instead. She says she doesn’t have much to chat with him about not since they’re not going together. But Arin wants to chat with him now too since she’ll be stuck here on Inferno.
Arin goes to speak with Dongho first. They talk about how they both sucked in their challenges. She jokes that she’ll have the best time left here in Inferno so he can go and enjoy Paradise.
She tells us however that she is actually quite reassured by Dongho. But Haelin’s aggressiveness was unexpected so she wanted to make clear (in her roundabout, cryptic way) that he should let the other girls know he is not interested in them so they won’t pick him for Inferno.
Next up is Youjin. She tells him that if he’s still available by the time she has to choose, he will be the one she takes to Paradise. He tells her though that there might not be a chance for his feelings to change with so little time left.
Haelin is next and he also gives her the stuff about time and if they had more, he would’ve gotten to know more people. He admits that he is drawn to someone specific and most likely won’t change his mind.
But he says she won the privilege to choose so he wondered if it was right for him influence her decision. She thanks him for letting her know.
The one time I didn’t fast forward through the hosts, but it’s one time I agree with them. They say they didn’t feel anything between Dongho and Arin. And I definitely agree. Who do I blame though? The show. Perhaps Dongho and Arin are just that boring. But the show also is at fault because they didn’t even try to give them as much story development as Sian and her reverse harem, as an example. I mentioned in previous recaps how every other potential couple was so boring or flat. That’s definitely the case with Dongho and any of these 3 ladies, to be honest. But it’s also a fault of the series for stifling any opportunity for the singles to actually interact and get to know each other more.
It’s now 5pm and Sian makes her choice: Jeongsu.
The hosts would actually be less annoying if, aside from being seen less, they were more animated and loud and maybe even judgmental like Kyuhun and Dahee were, cheering and highfiving each other.lol
As they walk, Jeongsu mentions they’ve gone to Paradise on their first night and now their last.
Haelin tells us that she is conflicted on whether to choose for herself or choose for Dongho.
Choose for yourself girl! This is a game of love after all.
Haelin chooses Dongho. Kyuhun cheers.
Heh. I actually liked Kyuhun jumping up and cheering and throwing his cards up. More exaggerations like that and less on their nonsensical psychological evaluations of the singles lol
Haelin tells us that she mustered up the courage to choose him even after the stuff he told her. She doesn’t want to leave here with any regrets.
Haelin says to Dongho that they should have fun and have no regrets.
That’s right! Haelin has the right idea. But also because Dongho and Arin are pretty boring so having Haelin throw a wrench into their plans is fun. And no, I’m not becoming a hypocrite who is turning into what I always criticize about fans being so overly invested in these people’s lives to the point of forcing their own preferences on them and expressing as much on the participants’ social media. I just want good TV, even if for the last 2 episodes lol
Youjin’s first choice Dongho is gone. Her second choice Jeongsu is unavailable too. Everyone thinks she’ll pick Theo. Jonghoon is so uninterested in what’s happening he tries to take a nap. But he gets a big surprise when Youjin chooses him.
Hyejin is sad she won’t get to spend time with him on Inferno.
Jonghoon says this will be the first time they’ll get to properly talk to each other.
See, these people don’t even see each other they’re in Paradise so much or they lock them in their rooms all day.
Youjin tells us she voted for Jonghoon that day, so why not pick him today.
Dongho falls asleep on the helicopter ride to Seoul. Haelin teases him.
On the drive to the hotel, Jeongsu asks Sian about her not being a drinker but hearing she down half a bottle of whiskey. She says she did get drunk, but nothing happened between her and Junseo. Jeongsu is not convinced.
As they enjoy the Seoul sunset view, Sian says she’s been so busy she hasn’t had time to reflect on her ever-changing feelings. She asks if he’s ever felt confused here. He says right at this moment. Because he already felt good things about her that first night and he’s been waiting for her to come back to him ever since.
Seeing her rest her head on Junseo’s shoulder made him doubt her feelings. She says she gravitated toward Junseo after their first date. But he’s a macho kind of guy, the opposite of Jeongsu. So she wanted to spend time with him today to see who makes her smile more and who she can see spending more time with after the show.
Jeongsu asks why on their helicopter ride this morning when she sat between him and Junseo, she decided to rest her head on Junseo’s instead of his.
Sian says he told her to. So she did. But then she realized.
What? Is that a serious question? Of course she’s going to rest her head on the guy she’s coming back from Paradise with. She’s already feeling guilty about being interested in multiple guys. Should she add to her perception of herself that she’s a flirt or something? I think the question is absurd. But I even think Sian’s answer was worse.
Jeongsu says that one gesture got him thinking many things. He could no longer see what he “had been waiting for.” He didn’t see a reason to wait for her anymore.
Omg bro. It’s not that serious. Lol
Sian says she didn’t know he felt so strongly and thought he was getting to know other ladies in the meantime. He says he was just forced to be dragged along. He never asked them to. Sian feels the same way.
What are they even talking about?
Sian says the three times she had a choice to pick a guy, she picked Jeongsu twice.
Jeongsu gives Sian a flower petal from his Paradise visit with Haelin which he pressed in his book. It reminded him of their time in the spa together on that first night. He was going to give it to her on Inferno but Theo was first to give her a whole bouquet.
He feels he missed all his chances to express himself to her and regrets not just doing so.
Jeongsu says a weight has been lifted by him being open with her right now. Sian laughs at him. He tells her to do what she wants and he will do the same.
They go to the dining table to have dinner.
Do they not order their own food anymore?
Jeongsu and Sian serve each other foods.
The Inferno people play rock paper scissors to decide who washes the dishes. And it’s Junseo and Minseol.
Why did I giggle?
Everyone cheers what Junseo calls the power of the universe. Minseol tells us that she thinks this is fate.
The hosts laugh and make fun of Minseol.
What’s so funny about her thinking it’s fate? What if this is the chance for her to make one last appeal to Junseo who might end up changing his mind?
The two of them joke around as they wash the dishes about how many times Minseol has been to Paradise.
I never saw Junseo laughing like this with Sian. Heh.
The mood seems to change when Minseol says Junseo should’ve taken her back to Paradise one more time out of pity.
Minseol tells us her feelings were hurt when he Junseo’s silence after she said them seem to imply he was letting her know Sian was the only one for him.
Junseo tells us that he’s feeling a bit heartbroken thinking about Sian and Jeongsu in Paradise together, especially knowing their mutual attraction and the fact that they went to Paradise together night one.
Sian and Jeongsu return to the bedroom and look at the view once more. They decide to take a quick nap so they get in bed.
As Sian seems to doze off, Jeongsu moves closer and closer to her. Next morning, Jeongsu watches Sian sleep and then massages her feet when she wakes up.
Rewind to Haelin and Dongho’s dinner. While they enjoy the delicious food, Haelin says all she thought about was she didn’t want to have regrets. Dongho understands the pressure in Haelin’s situation.
Haelin asks if he is sure that she has zero chance with him. Dongho says he doesn’t think it’s likely to happen, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like her. It’s just that he’s grown comfortable with Arin and wants to see things through with her. He says that he’s learned he wasn’t as strong as he thought he was coming here. Haelin jokes and asks if he thinks that because he was swayed a bit. Dongho smiles and nods.
That makes Haelin happy. Dongho says she is not his typical type, but he enjoys moments like this talking with her. Haelin says she would have not changed a thing, even knowing this.
It’s already morning with Youjin and Jonghoon in Paradise. Youjin says last night, every time they would seem to start getting somewhere, Jonghoon would pull away, stifling their convos and quickly moving on to something else. Then he ended up sleeping while she took a shower instead of them being able to chat some more in bed.
Jonghoon tells us that he fell asleep because of the ASMR sound of Youjin’s shower. And he felt bad that he did, but thinks it was hilarious. Though Hyejin was on his mind, he didn’t want to ruin the mood and instead did his best to help Youjin enjoy their time here.
Back on Inferno, Jiyeon tells Arin about her confused feelings toward Tehwan, saying she doesn’t feel his sincerity with his feelings. Arin thinks he’s the most sincere amongst the guys.
Jiyeon says while they were talking about their dreams, she had mentioned wanting to get married and have a family and then Tehwan subsequently said he wasn’t into marriage. Arin is shocked and says that means they have different values. Jiyeon mentions how he never asks questions of her and he only talks about himself. That’s why she finds it hard to believe his feelings.
Arin adds that it is possible Tehwan was just trying to ensure she was comfortable. But it’s hard to ignore how hard it takes for sincere feelings to develop.
Next day as Jiyeon and Tehwan are washing dishes, she confronts him about him saying he wasn’t interested in marriage after she had mentioned it was her dream. He says he tends to say the opposite or negative of what he means. And that what he actually means might be positive instead. The reason he said that was so someone could change his mind about it.
Tehwan tells us that he believes in understanding each other’s different values so they can figure out what kind of effort and adjustments they should make.
The Paradise couples arrive back on Inferno with the others waiting for them on the benches taking photos.
Sian tells us she’s a bit disappointed that Junseo didn’t ask her immediately how her night went. And as the other Paradise singles recount their activities from last night, an annoyed Sian just wants to leave the table.
Later, the Voice says this is the last chance for the singles to go on free dates. Junseo quickly gets up to fetch Sian.
Episode Thoughts
Well, let’s start right at the end. Because I’d honestly be annoyed at Sian being annoyed. She seemed to come back to Inferno expecting Junseo to run to her and reclaim her or something. Junseo might be annoyed himself that she got to spend time with a rival of his. But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with waiting to talk to her when there’s no one around. At the same time, Junseo could’ve say “Hi” at least. But considering the way Sian seemed to fully enjoy her time with Jeongsu, her reaction here suggests she’s definitely still torn.
Now, this episode definitely highlighted how it has been the Sian Show. I’ve seen people comment that all season long. But this was really the time where you can see how Sian and her boys are the most interesting story whereas everyone else is just fodder, unfortunately.
That’s not necessarily the singles’ fault, like I mentioned. The show being unable to give the singles time to interact and get to know each other gets the most blame. Of course, you aren’t going to get every single their own partner in the end. But when you have people either saying “I wish I got a chance to get to know you more” or “I haven’t talked to you in days”, then you know there’s something majorly wrong with the format. And I’ll again talk about all that after the final episode.
That the show couldn’t even force stories out of any of the other pairings says a lot. They absolutely could’ve done so to fill these almost 90-minute episodes. But instead, they went with stretching only one potential thread (Sian and the men) rather than even fake interest in any other potential pairings beyond simple check-ins.
That said, my favorite moment was that fleeting moment where Junseo and Minseol were having fun, joking around and laughing with each other. I guess in another universe… lol I’ll be a delulu for a moment and wish for a happy ending for them. Sometime. Somewhere. lololol
Anyway, going into the final episode, Sian’s choice will be the main event. But even then, it’s somehow not as exciting or something to look forward to. Rather something to get over with. I dunno.
