Leg 24.15 – “Kakapit kami sa capiz.”
This is it! It’s the Final Leg of the Race! Teams will depart from Osaka on the special Philippine Airlines Airbus A350 charter flight and arrive at New Manila International Airport. There, teams will then hop onto a special Cebu Pacific A330neo charter flight to take them to Iloilo City and the Pit Start for this 15th and Final Leg.
Teams will depart at the same time from Molo Plaza in Iloilo City.
The first clue directs teams to search the Molo Mansion across the street for a padlocked box made of capiz shells they must keep until further notice.
Once they have found the box, teams must then search the streets outside for a 2024 Kia Seltos.
And then drive themselves to Netong’s Original Special La Paz Batchoy in Iloilo City. And here, teams will find a Road Block: Who’s ready to use their noodle?
For this Road Block, teams will receive an authentic bowl of La Paz Batchoy to taste and examine. They will then receive five other bowls of batchoy, each missing one or more different key ingredients. Teams must correctly identify the missing ingredients for each bowl to receive the next clue.
That clue points teams to Pavia National High School in Pavia. And here, teams will find another Road Block! Who likes to Race?
For this Road Block, in a Modified Switchback to one of the most memorable tasks from the original, real Amazing Race Philippines at this very location, teams must choose a carabao and jockey and ride a wooden chariot along a straight course. Teams must capture three flags along the way and cross the Finish Line to grab the fourth flag in order to receive the next clue.
That clue directs teams to this Sugarcane Plantation in Passi.
Teams must properly harvest enough sugarcane to create 15 bundles. Each bundle will represent the leg numbers of the Race. (for example, one sugarcane stalk for Leg 1 up to 15 sugarcane stalks for Leg 15.) Once their bundles are approved, they must then match the bundles with the countries they’ve visited on the Race. When their bundle matching is correct, they will receive the next clue.
Teams must now drive to 112km to Baybay Beach in Roxas City, Capiz.
Here, teams must swim out to a buoy to retrieve the next clue.
That clue tells teams to find Culasi Lighthouse.
And the waiting clue has teams driving to Libas Fishing Port.
Capiz is regarded as the Seafood capital of Philippines. For this task, teams must pick up freshly caught fish from the port and bring them to this area by the market to lay them out to dry using traditional methods. They must then collect and pack already dried fish into boxes to receive the next clue.
Afterwards, teams must head to Villareal Stadium where they will face the Final Memory Task.
Teams have encountered some iconic architecture and stunning locations on this Race. In front of the teams is a large series of panels made out of capiz shells. And engraved in them are many of those buildings and locations they’ve visited this season. For this Final Task, teams must properly move the capiz panels to correctly depict their Race starting from the Starting Line all the way to this final Leg. Several buildings and locations can be seen on more than one capiz panel. But out of 30 capiz panels, only 10 correctly and perfectly line-up to depict that route.
Once their panels are in the correct order, a key will be released to unlock the capiz shell box they retrieved in Iloilo City.
And inside the box is the location of the Finish Line!
Teams must make their way to the Ruins of Alcatraz.
And at this stunning viewpoint, the first team to cross the Finish Line will win all the prizes!
Congrats!
“Director’s” Commentary
A pretty solid Final Leg I think! This Leg grew out of the capiz shells final task which we’ll get to in a minute.
First, knowing that I wanted to finish the Leg in Capiz, I thought that starting the Leg in Iloilo was the right choice. First from a logistics perspective for the flight. But also to have a bigger location for the Pit Start and open up more tasks for the first half of this Leg.
Molo Plaza is the perfect Pit Start. And having the Molo Mansion across the street is perfect too. I guess we could have a different task inside the mansion. But just looking for a capiz shell box should be fine. It’s a trademark TARPHDME task: Take something to keep until further notice. Hehe
Next, trying to find some tasks to stage here in Iloilo, I decided to just recycle from TARPH2 (the real one lol). First, we feature La Paz Batchoy. But instead of just eating and searching for the clue, actually having a task with the soups is better. It’s another ingredient-identification task. We just had one in Osaka! I feel like we’re turning into TAR Canada with all these ingredient tasks lol But I think it’s an interesting task to have that also highlights a local specialty.
Since we’re here, I decided to recycle the carabao race Road Block from TARPH2. Honestly, one of the very best tasks from the real TARPH. So this modified Switchback is simply just teams trying to grab the flags.
Next up, we need a task in between Iloilo and Roxas City. So Passi was a town in between them. And it has some sugarcane farms so why not have a sugarcane task. A simple memory-ish task. But really mostly physical having to cut down and then collect all the sugarcane. They need to do 120 stalks in total!
Afterwards, two simple Route Markers. In a way, just to have teams settle down in Roxas City after the long drive. But actually, I believe there’s a bit of a hike to the lighthouse. So swimming into the ocean and a hike might not be so simple after all hehe.
Then we visit the fishing port. Again, highlighting what Capiz is known for. But also another physical and tedious task.
Finally, this Final Memory Task. So, I’ve had Capiz as a Final Leg location for a while now. With something involving capiz shells as part of a Final Task on my reserves list. When I watched the Korean drama Stealer last year, I got the idea of having capiz shell panels. In the drama, Joo Won had to shift wall panels to get them out of the trap room. So I decided to have something similar here.
It’s kind of hard to explain my vision for this task. But it’s basically like a slide puzzle. A creative and far more intelligent mind than myself would have to figure out how to have 30 slides with seemingly many options only to have one correct order. I wanted to feature many iconic architectures this season, but I guess it didn’t end up that way.
Still, the panels can include architecture and specific memorable tasks. We can give several options for each Leg, so teams will be confused as to which ones they can use for the solution. But again, only one correct solution of 10 panels.
I hope it can be executed well. I’m not sure. But perhaps I could articulate it better, then, again, someone more creative and smarter than I am should be able to make it happen. Hehe
Finally, the Ruins of Alcatraz is a perfect Finish Line location. Big area. Wonderful scenery and view.
Overall I think a pretty good Final Leg!
And overall, I think a solid season. Solid route. Solid tasks. And another TARPHDME is done! I can’t believe we are at 24 seasons! Hehe.
Thank you all for “watching” this season! It really means so much to see people coming and visiting and enjoying what started out as something more for my own fun. But now it’s something for others to enjoy for a few minutes of reading too. Thank you!
But stay tuned because later this year, we will get…
The Amazing Race Philippines: DryedMangoez Edition Ultimate All-Stars!!! It will be the biggest season yet! In more ways than one! Hehe. See you then!

A fun season! Thank you for some fun reading 😁 I wonder who will win it. Have to wait for tomorrow lol
One question about the Final Task, are the drawings split in half between panels? It looks like it on your picture but I’m not sure. So would some panels have the same half of one landmark but a different on on the other side, something like that? I think that would be very tricky. So it’s a good task!
Yes, that’s absolutely right! And also have several possible landmarks/buildings/locations for each Leg. But only one correct drawing/icon thing.
