Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger Episode 41 Recap

No problem, the chairmen say and it is a done deal.

Just then, the Boonbooms arrive after Shashiro’s intel had revealed the corruption between the BWCFA and Big Bang Soccer.

Spindo approves bringing about Soccer Ball Guruma to facilitate a match between the Hashiryan and the Boonbooms.

In the locker room, pre-game, the Boonbooms talk about how the Hashiryan can infiltrate deep into planets. Sakito and Genba say planets have been easily conquered because of sell-outs and traitors.

Turns out Sakito, Byundi and Genba all played for the legendary soccer club Pulse Ace, though never a chance together on the same team. Spindo ripped that soccer club away from them, making them very determined to win this match.

Episode Thoughts

An interesting episode at this point of the season. lol Of course it was fun and enjoyable. But certainly not much more than fluffy filler, to be honest. At least, I wouldn’t have had this episode at this point of the season. Especially after some strong plot-moving episodes the last couple of weeks. Though when you think of it that way, having a breather might make sense.

I do know the Boonbooms had a collab with the pro team Shimizu S-Pulse a few months ago with Satoru Soma and Yu Miyazawa participating with a special event at a match. So perhaps that has something to do with the timing based on filming date and the like.

But I definitely enjoyed the baseball episode more.

Anyway, if I were to dig deep and find the consequential developments of this episode. One would be learning about Genba, Sakito and Byundi’s participation in Big Bang Soccer. Giving us a tiny peek into what goes on in other parts of the galaxy. They have lives just like we do on Earth. And Genba, Sakito and Byundi had lives of their own before coming here.

Another thing would be highlighting how much the Hashiryan can easily infiltrate planets. Whether it’s positioning their people amongst the civilians or collaborating with people in power to hasten their conquests, the Hashiryan are a powerful entity. Though of course we already knew that, this episode made clear that their influence and power is multi-faceted and a huge threat.

What was funny though was how this episode came after the week in which FIFA announced the next World Cup hosts. And of course, FIFA has had a controversial history of corruption, especially when it comes to hosting choices. So this episode highlighting such a scenario where was really hilarious.

Fun to see the actors for King-Ohger‘s Sebastian and Boshimar make a guest appearance as the corrupt soccer officials. I had to think a bit at the start why they looked so familiar. lol

And especially fun to see Rica Matsumoto make an appearance in person. She is the voice of BunBun and the Boonboom equipment. And a fun reference to her being the voice of Satoshi/Ace in Pokemon when they call her “Sato Shiho-san”.

Overall, while it was of course a fun and enjoyable episode (as Boonboomger offers up every week), it coming as Episode 41 feels awkward to me. Mainly just because I would prefer them to be bakuage full speed all the way to the end now. But with three months left to go, I guess an episode like this at this point is not too crazy.
