Episode Thoughts

Well, sad for the twins, I guess? But, also, sorry your dad and siblings suck. Doesn’t mean you can go and kill people. Especially your own brother, the only person in the world (Granute OR human world at that! Lol) who ever actually cared about you.

So…

Honestly lolol

As soon as the twins were all, You humans can’t even compare to us!, I was like “Shoma, do us all a favor and go ahead and end them. Now!” lololol

Now, is she actually done? Probably not. But my biggest takeaway from this episode is less on the twins or the Stomach Sibs, but really more on Shoma himself.

First, I love Shoma snapping back at the twins and bringing up how they first killed his mother AND have been killing countless other humans for who knows how long. All just to produce drugs for monsters? Yeah, Shoma’s righteous indignation was more than warranted. And I loved seeing it.

This is a season about candies. But there was no sugar coating how Shoma felt at that moment. And it really worked so well. Aside from being a badass moment for him, it goes a long way in establishing Shoma’s heroic and selfless attitude and personality. That’s the kind of hero you can easily love to root for.

Then there’s the discussion of the happiness that the cake he made with Sachika brought him. A happiness that he once shared with his mother which was then ripped away from him care of his siblings.

I guess it’s a nice contrast with the lack thereof for the twins from their own full-blooded family. So yeah, I get all that. But the episode definitely made me more interested in Shoma and seeing him be able to experience these positive feelings. And gaining an understanding of these feelings that he had been unable to because of his abusive family.

So definitely an excellent showcase for Shoma’s character development here.

Elsewhere, great to see some big movement with Suga-san and Nyelv at the cliffhanger. We’ll also wait and see what’s next for the twins. They can finally experience the loneliness and suffering that Shoma had to endure all these years! Deserved!

And also, I didn’t know they can spit Agents out of their Stomachs lol I was surprised when the twins did it. But then made sense to allow Shoma to do the same later.

Though I really felt bad for that Hoippuhei throwing up whipped cream.
Kamen Rider Gavv Episode 14 Recap Review
Hope they’re okay! lol

So, let’s get it out of the way too. lol I’m sure there’s some Shoma-Sachika shippers out there that are well fed today. lol But what’s interesting is how this episode’s progression actually made me see Sachika as like a mother figure for both Shoma and Hanty. Especially at the end.

Nonetheless, the show did a great job being able to use Sachika and the cake to drive Shoma throughout this episode. Well crafted narrative for this and the last episode to bring about a truly satisfying emotional climax.

Next week seems to be about Shoma wanting to help Granutes escape the clutches of Stomach Inc. Perhaps Stinger… I mean, the singing Granute? That would be great! I really like the reformed or misunderstood or nice MOTW plots that Sentai usually does.

So overall, big developments. Great action. Another great episode of Gavv!

  1. I honestly was expecting a change of heart from the twins with how Shoma kept trying to reach out to them and how the rest of the family just dumped them, so this was kind of a shock. But that doesn’t mean this isn’t a good development, its just where is Jiip going from here.

  2. This episode felt more like a super form debut than upgrade form If gavv upgrade form was that depthful (he created the cake by his own and didn’t even die after used like other gochizous) I am wondering how serious the final form would have been

  3. Kenzo being in cahoots with Nyelv reminds me of Dr. Maki working with the Greeed in OOO for his own ends. It seems to be more of a partnership between the two, rather than Kenzo being Nyelv’s lackey. Although, I think Kenzo’s about as “loyal” to Nyelv as he is to Hanto. He’s probably gonna wind up screwing Nyelv over big time in the end, like Dr. Maki did to Kazari.
I’m hoping to see A LOT more of Kenzo from now on after this reveal. There’s big questions about who or what he really is, his true motives, if he was actively involved in what happened to Hanto’s mentor or if that was all Nyelv, and how much the other Stomach Siblings besides Nyelv know of him and his contributions to the company. It seems all but confirmed that he did indeed invent both the Mimic Keys and the Hitopress technology, the latter of which conveniently doesn’t work on half-Granutes like Shoma. I’m still of the assumption that Kenzo’s a half-Granute who had his Red Gavv stolen away from him. And the only other person we know who could fit that bill is the Wolf Granute, and the potential suspect list for him has pretty much dwindled down to Shoma and Kenzo. Though whether Kenzo himself recognizes Hanto from 18 years ago in that possible scenario is unclear. And c’mon, let’s be real, the plot twist of there being an older, more devious hybrid out there, with Shoma not being the only one in existence, is too good to pass up. Kenzo playing both sides through Hanto and Nyelv would “symbolize” his potential true nature quite well in that regard.

Elsewhere, I HIGHLY doubt Siita’s permanently dead. Her actress hasn’t received flowers yet after all. Maybe she’ll be revived somehow with the broken Mimic Key Jiip’s now carrying around. I’m also interested to see their older siblings’ reactions to her “death.” Especially Glotta, who was the ONLY one of them to give a damn about the Twins running away to start with. Their awful father really did screw all of the siblings up, didn’t he?
And speaking of the older three, it’s interesting how they all the seemed to be exactly the same age as they are now when the Twins were little kids. They even used the same human disguises to represent that. Is the age gap between them and the Twins THAT big? Or do Granutes run on Invincible logic and age slower as they reach adulthood?

    1. Yes, I think Kenzo and Nyelv would easily turn on each other if things are beneficial for them. That’s another interesting dynamic to watch moving forward.

I probably wouldn’t put too much in the ages. Probably just easy to keep the older actors instead of having to cast three teen actors for the older siblings to just pop up in one episode hehe

  4. Great episode. Even the twins (like the whole Stomach family) are unredeemable, they’re the only members of the family I feel a little sympathy for. And since Shiita’s actress didn’t recieve her flowers, she should be back one way or another.
By the way, Lango isn’t their father, but their big bro.
