At the Garage, Jou and Mira are looking for hidden surveillance cameras. Taiya says they’re alright here since he and BunBun beefed up security several times in recent years. Genba suggests that if they were to be surveilled, it would be at their place of work. Sakito says that if they are being surveilled anyway, they should give the people watching them a show such as making them jealous of them eating the most delicious curry ever. Jou and Mira agree.
Shashiro reiterates that they are completely secure here, but Taiya says to just let them have their fun.
Meanwhile, it was several years ago when Yaruka was alone and feeling lost about his life, wondering what was even his reason for existence. That’s when he met Dekotorade and Ittasha who also felt a similar way. It was then that they decided to race together and perhaps find their reason for living and racing together. And so, the Sanseaters were born.
In the present day, the Sanseaters are preparing for Spindo’s arrival when another Yaruka-looking Hashiryan appears. Only, this is Weiwei Yaruka and he is here to fetch Yaiyai Yaruka to take him on the highway to success.
Weiwei explains that the Yaru Family are from the planet Yaruka and are born to race. That is what the crest on his head signifies. Recalling a story about a Yaru family member being so lively, it escaped the planet upon birth, he posits that Yaruka lost his crest when he bumped into a meteor.
Anyway, Weiwei says Yaruka is very intelligent so he must enroll in Hashiryan High School so he can become super elite like him.
To show them what he means, Weiwei keys in a pair of guitars and brings about Akogi and Electric Guitar Guruma. Their music playing causes people across Japan to produce lots of Gassholin.
The Boonbooms hurry over to the scene and henshin to Champion. But they notice these Kurumaju are more powerful than usual. The twin Kurumaju say it is because they have been infused with elite power.
Weiwei returns to the RT3 and asks Yaruka for his decision. Yaruka hesitates because that means he would have to leave Dekotorade and Ittasha.
Both Dekotorade and Ittasha believe this is a huge opportunity for Yaruka, so they step forward and declare the Sanseaters are no more. Yaruka is surprised, but his two teammates say that even if it is sad to part ways, they will be even happier to see Yaruka succeed as an elite. They promise to get a promotion on their own and catch up to him.
Just then, Sakito arrives and henshins. Dekotorade and Ittasha try to stop Sakito from interfering with Yaruka going along with Weiwei. The two of them hop into Killer Robo.
Weiwei is intrigued and decides to join them in the cockpit to give them an elite boost. Dekotorade and Ittasha urge Yaruka to go on and pursue his elite dreams. Yaruka understands and he promises to return when he achieves them. He zooms onto the highway.
Sakito and Byundi form Mach Robo and battle Dekotorade, Ittasha and Weiwei.
Mr. Naito gets a call about Killer Robo rampaging and is annoyed that it is doing so without authority. But it’s whatever since the ISA will pay for everything anyway. Besides, Mr. Naito says, this will be a good demonstration.
As the battle continues, Weiwei sees that this is a losing battle and his elite status is in danger so he leaves Dekotorade and Ittasha to themselves.
On the other side of the city, a Hashiryan comes crashing down in the middle of the Boonbooms fighting the two Kurumajus. The Hashiryan eliminates the two Kurumajus himself and the Boonbooms think this is Spindo.
BunBun says this is actually Spindo’s right hand, Grantu Risk.
Grantu Risk hears Bundorio’s voice and says he will return. He leaves after waving and sending the Boonbooms back onto their butts.
Meanwhile, Yaruka can’t help but think of Dekotorade and Ittasha as he drives the highway. They were the first ones to ever ask him to race together
Sakito is prepared to finish off Killer Robo, but Dekotorade and Ittasha say they want to prove they can do this themselves so Yaruka can stop worrying about them and focus on becoming elite.
They charge forward as Sakito easily knocks them back. But Yaruka arrives and says he will not be taking up the offer. He doesn’t want to associate with the arrogant and pretentious elite. He wants to be with them, especially since it seems they aren’t any good without him. He asks if they can race together again.
Dekotorade and Ittasha are touched and the three reaffirm their strong bond.
Weiwei says it’s too bad, but it looks like Yaiyai Yaruka is better suited with the lackeys. He turns around to leave and report to Spindo, but suddenly out of the highway pops Engine Speedor, who is a friend of Byundi’s. Speedor joins with Sakito and Byundi to form Byunbyun Mach Robo – Go-On Custom.
The Sanseaters try to deliver a finisher. But Go-On Custom is too fast. And they deliver a Byunbyun Finish to take care of Killer Robo for good.
Sakito acknowledges their fighting spirit, but it can’t overcome true skill.
Still, the Sanseaters are fully committed to speeding forward together.
Sakito thanks Speedor and says he will repay him one day with delicious curry from BunBun. Speedor looks forward to it!
Grantu Risk is impressed by the Boonboomgers, but he has confirmed this is the perfect planet for Spindo.
Episode Thoughts
That was a very full episode! Definitely lots going on. But mainly. It was an interesting and fun focus on the Sanseaters. Or as I like to call them, the RT3. Hehe.
Dekotorade, Ittasha and Yaruka have been a great trio all season. They’re definitely in the mold of the clumsy, lovable, but still threatening Sentai antagonist. They’re not the Big Bads of course. They still represent the ideals of the main villains of the season. But it’s been great to watch how their own line of thinking has emerged. Really, their road diverging from the main Hashiryan highway, if we’re to continue using road and driving analogies. Lol
So this episode emphasizing their genuine friendship with each other while also even touching upon the idea of teamwork and working together is great. Instead of being a contrast with our title heroes, they’re almost like a parallel. Also a group of people working together as a team to race forward. It will be interesting to see where they end up at the end of the series.
But really, just a fun story for them.
Even better, it seems their story was used perfectly to set the stage for Spindo’s arrival. Speaking of contrasts, perhaps fleshing out the RT3’s story will go against Spindo and traditional Hashiryan way of thinking. As we have the Big Boss (and Final Boss?) arrive, we will see what the Hashiryans are truly about and capable of. So having the RT3’s own, personal ideals laid out on the table today, we can perfectly see what might basically be the opposite starting next week.
Speaking of villains, the season has done well with unraveling the true nature of Mr. Naito. My hope is they will have a big reveal for when Taiya eventually learns who he really is and what he’s about.
And it was a great debut for Grantu Risk.
We actually didn’t “see” the Boonbooms too much this episode. Was this a movie filming week? Hehe. But the short, unhenshined scenes were fun as well. We got some great action, especially when the Boonbooms first battled the Bon Jovi Kurumajus. And the mecha battle was pretty great as well.
Overall, a fun episode focusing on the RT3 aka Sanseaters. It’s quite refreshing to have a season devote such focus to the villains in this way.
