Ishiro makes his way into Hando Taiya’s mansion, stealthily maneuvering through the impressive security system which he believes is proof the guy is hiding something.
Suddenly, Ishiro falls through a trap door where he comes face to face with Hando Taiya himself.
Taiya is impressed by Ishiro’s skill. He reaches out his hand and invites Ishiro to work with him. Ishiro can’t believe he could fall for such a simple trap.
Suddenly, a robot-looking being comes up behind Ishiro saying this was all Taiya’s bakuage idea! Ishiro is taken aback and he points his gun at it.
Taiya explains that this is the reason Ishiro is here. Taiya introduces Bundorio Bunderas, an alien mechanical lifeform whom he met after following a falling meteor one night. When Taiya had reached the impact point, Bundorio was lying there near death.
Ishiro asks Taiya what he’s getting in return for keeping Boondorio hidden here. Taiya and Boondorio say they created this workshop to make their dreams come true. Taiya is sure he can deliver BunBun to the winner’s circle of the Big Bang Grand Prix, a race across the galaxy.
Ishiro cannot believe this guy that’s drawn the attention of every intelligence agency in the world is risking his life to help someone run a race.
Ishiro says out loud that Taiya sounds like a naïve child. That angers Bundorio, telling Ishiro not say such things about Taiya. It was Taiya who helped keep his dream alive when he was at his lowest point. “What makes you think you know everything?!”
Ishiro thinks about how he was born into a family of spies and has been training for as long as he can remember. Dreams were something reserved for idealistic fools, he thought.
But somehow, Ishiro feels Taiya’s eyes have drawn him in and won’t let him go.
BunBun apologizes to Taiya for his outburst. Taiya says it’s alright and that he’s become quite charmed by this thief. He asks for his name and Ishiro quietly introduces himself.
Taiya says it is settled. Ishiro will be working with him. But Ishiro says he is a spy and has no intention of working with anyone else. Taiya suggests Ishiro become his informant instead. With his abilities, Ishiro will be able to gather and deliver any intel he might need.
Ishiro has one question for Taiya. With all his power, Taiya could revolutionize the world. But why does he keep going on about deliveries like a postman. Taiya says Ishiro will understand after he makes his first delivery. Ishiro is unsure what that could mean.
Later, Taiya accompanies Ishiro back to his car and says he’ll be in touch. Ishiro asks how Taiya can be so sure that he won’t spill the beans about Bundorio. Taiya says he trusts Ishiro to take the wheel and guide himself.
Taiya drives off and calls Tokoyari to report that the meteorite Taiya recovered… was nothing but junk.
Chapter Thoughts
Ahhh! Now wouldn’t this chapter be amazing acted out in real life with Haruhi Iuchi and Yuki Hayama? This is good story right here!
Really wonderful character moments from Taiya, Shashiro and BunBun too. I can literally see and hear the real life actors playing out these scenes in my head!
Again, Taiya is his friendly and warm self. You can’t blame Shashiro for falling for him… I mean being drawn into Taiya’s world when Taiya is such a nice and comforting personality.
Especially as we get a little peek more into Shashiro’s lonely childhood in this spy world. He has only known this kind of life. And he doesn’t have, yet probably yearns for those human connections. One that he might be experiencing for the first time with Taiya literally reaching his hand out to him.
It’s a wonderful story of friendship and bonds. And it got me thinking about Taiya’s own childhood which we got a peek of in the last episode (37) but also have gotten hints about throughout the season. Maybe the series will get to explore more about Shashiro’s childhood and growing up as we learn more about Taiya’s growing up in these final episodes. And how they might have shared or similar experiences. That would awesome!
Overall, another wonderful chapter. I can’t wait to see what’s next in their developing relationship!
