Some wonderful surprises with these releases from 1st.One, Minho, TIOT, 8TURN, ATEEZ.
“Paalam Na (Performance Cut)” by 1st.One
I’ve been able to express how much I’ve loved 1st.One’s “Paalam Na” already. But they have just released a special performance video which is able to highlight, what I think, is the best P-pop choreography of the year! So good!
“Call Back” by Minho
I don’t know that I’ve ever checked out Minho’s solo releases before. But I guess his first full album is the perfect opportunity to finally do so. And WOWOW! The title track (which is also the title of the album) “Call Back” is absolutely amazing! A perfect R&B track that allows Minho to deliver the vibes as well as a vocal performance I don’t know that I’ve experienced from him before! What a revelation for me! I mean, I’ve of course seen his great performances as a member of SHINee. But this track and the rest of the album is an amazingly pleasant and welcome surprise! It’s hard to pick a favorite amongst the ten tracks as they’re all really good. But I’ll have to go with “Call Back” if only because it enlightened me to Minho, the solo artist!
“Take It Slow” by TIOT
I enjoyed TIOT’s solid debut. But it was a pleasant surprise to hear their song “The Long Season” last month. And another pleasant surprise now with “Take It Slow”. The beautifully emotional ballad might be the strongest showcase for the group’s vocals yet. And their strong performance evokes a sincerity that really elevates the song even more.
“You Are My Reason” by 8TURN
8TURN is finally back with some fresh music. And “You Are My Reason” is a wonderful rock-infused pop track with a dreamy melody supporting the song’s grateful message. It’s been a while since they released their last album in March. But this is a great opportunity for them to show off a different side of themselves from their releases so far. A great track!
“Ice On My Teeth” by ATEEZ
ATEEZ is back with Part 2 of their Golden Hour album and title track “Ice On My Teeth” continues the vibes of their last title, the catchy “Work”. This one is similarly catchy and energetic. My favorite tracks from the album though are “Selfish Waltz” and “Enough”.
