Recap: Kamen Rider Gotchard Spin-Off: We Are Class 3G

At Gotchard Private High School is Class 3G which is full of eccentric students. They assemble on the rooftop as class delinquent Clotho, rich girl Lachesis and hot jock Supana prepare to battle to become the class’ top dog. Class president Houtarou tries to stop them, reminding them their class is supposed to be where everyone can smile and be happy.

Clotho seems to worry when Houtarou falls on his butt. Supana tries to take this opportunity to strike at her, but Lachesis wants him to face her instead. Clotho joins in and the three of them battle.

Health committee president Renge suggests they take bets on who will win. Animal committee president Sabimaru says there’s no point since it’ll just end in a draw like always. Library committee president Minato thinks they’re all idiots.

Their classmate Rinne, who is head of the disciplinary committee, enjoys watching this beautiful chaos regularly play out. But that all changed when a new teacher arrived.

Back in the classroom, Vice Principal Kajiki says that since Harima-sensei is on maternity leave, they will have a new substitute teacher. In walks Atropos-sensei who appears to be a little girl. The students think this is a joke. But Atropos-sensei is quite serious.

First things first, Atropos-sensei would like to know if anyone is interested in becoming a Kamen Rider.

The class is silent except for Houtarou having severe stomach pains.

Atropos-sensei says that a tradition of this school is that whoever is student body president also serves as Kamen Rider to protect peace on school grounds. She knows three of them regularly battle for supremacy and suggests they transfer that energy into running for student body president instead. Supana, Clotho and Lachesis are intrigued by the idea.

Atropos-sensei asks Renge what kind of Kamen Rider she’d like to be. She says she would like to battle Malgams and make money off of it by taking bets. Sabimaru says that’s not appropriate for Sunday mornings. Vice Principal Kajiki says Principal Gurion would never allow gambling at school.

Atropos-sensei asks Lachesis the same question. Lachesis wants to exact revenge on Supana for looking down on her and not wanting to be her dog. Lachesis laughs maniacally, but coughs on her laughs. Renge tries to sell her a bottle of water for 1000 yen. But Supana offers her a protein drink instead. Lachesis shyly says no thanks.

Atropos-sensei asks Minato, but he says he does not need such things. Only books.

Atropos-sensei asks Clotho who first looks at Houtarou before admitting she would like to be stronger than everyone and to be accepted. Her stomach suddenly growls. Supana offers her a protein drink and broccoli and chicken. A seemingly jealous Lachesis steps on his foot.

Rinne very much enjoys this beautiful, precious chaos.

Atropos-sensei asks Houtarou who suddenly drops to his knees to apologize to the class. Atropos-sesei had entrusted the Gotchardriver to him, but he has lost it. He had put it in his bag, but it is now gone.

They class realizes someone in their class has most likely stolen it.

Atropos-sensei first asks if any of them have any suspicions. Supana speaks up first and accuses Houtarou of taking it. Houtarou insists he is the victim. But Supana says Houtarou probably succumbed to the evil whispers of the Driver and this is all part of his plan.

Houtarou denies it. Clotho literally jumps to his defense. But she pulls back and says it’s because he’s too boring and a loser to think of something to break the rules with. Supana agrees. Houtarou cries.

Sabimaru thinks they should establish a motive such as wanting to sell the Driver. That motive turns the attention to Renge. But Renge says Sudo from class B is greedier than her. He even murdered his friend for money.

Supana and Sabimaru offer up other “students” as suspects too. But Clotho says why should money be the only potential motive. It’s possible someone wants the Driver’s power. Houtarou suggests another student who has a bone to pick with Supana. Clotho excitedly agrees and Houtarou thinks he could be a genius. Clotho agrees with that too. But Atropos-sensei says they are all incorrect because it was stolen by someone in this class.

Atropos-sensei says it was all caught on camera. She had security cameras installed in order to know her new students better. The students say that is definitely a crime. Vice Principal Kajiki is worried what Principal Gurion might think.

But Atropos-sensei says the CCTV footage shows someone clearly going into Houtarou’s bag. Rinne points out that means Atropos-sensei already knows who the culprit is. So why would she let them accuse each other.

Supana, Lachesis and Clotho don’t take too kindly to being toyed with. Houtarou tries to calm them down, but Supana chest bumps him to the ground.

Just then, Minato uses his alchemy ring to get them all to shut up so he can read peacefully.

Houtarou tries to help Clotho up. But she panics and tells him not to touch her.

Atropos-sensei says two students were caught on tape. The first student seems to have taken something from Houtarou’s bag and three minutes later, another came in to also take something from Houtarou’s bag. But the first student came back in and they bumped into each other. They both left without seeing who the other was.

Suddenly, Lachesis begins to laughs hysterically. She admits she was the one who took the Driver after seeing Atropos-sensei giving it to Houtarou. She thought this was her chance to be at the top of the class.

Lachesis particularly would like to use this power to make Supana her dog. She thinks she whips the Driver out of her bag. But it is actually a bento box. She knows she took the Driver. But turns out the two thieves must have switched bags when they bumped into each other.

Lachesis falls to her knees in tears. She thought this was her chance to finally beat Supana. She really wanted to win.

Supana hands Lachesis a handkerchief and tells her she looks better with a smile. “Is that why you don’t like me?” Lachesis asks.

Turns out Lachesis has always liked Supana. That’s why she wanted to beat him so she could show she was someone worthy of his attention. Supana calls her an idiot, helps her up and gives her a big hug.

Everyone applauds the heartwarming moment.

Vice Principal Kajiki asks who the other the thief is and why would they want to steal a bento box. Atropos-sensei says she’s figured it out. The second culprit had the same motive as Lachesis.

Atropos-sensei points the finger at Clotho and says Houtarou is so dense as to not realize Clotho has feelings for him.

Clotho says she just wanted to try Houtarou’s homemade lunch. She knew someone as kind as Houtarou would cook something with warmth and kindness. Atropos-sensei theorizes Clotho also started dieting because of Houtarou. Clotho confirms. She was hungry, that’s why she grabbed the Driver instead of the bento.

Clotho apologizes. Houtarou says she likes her too and invites her to his place so he can whip up his signature dish for her. Everyone applauds the heartwarming moment.

Everyone except Rinne. She seethes that this is not the world she wanted.

Rinne steps forward and says Clotho is shy, so they should all go to Houtarou’s place to try out his food. Everyone is excited to do so.

Rinne, however, aims to create more beautiful chaos.

Renge goes to her items and finds that the laxatives are gone. Minato, meanwhile, recites Proverbs 16:18.

Rinne refuses to see a world where everyone lives happily ever after. She plans to give everyone explosive diarrhea with the laxatives.

Atropos-sensei senses another trouble brewing.

Special Thoughts

The Boonbooms are resting this week before the Final Lap and Hapipare is closed for the holiday. So to fill my Toei toku fix this week, I decided to go back and take a second look at the hilarious Gotchard Blu-Ray special We Are Class 3G. I haven’t written about it yet, so I thought why not do it for today? Hehe.

It’s of course just a fun little special. It’s always fun and amusing to see characters you know one way act in a completely different way, almost the opposite of how you know them to be too. And of course, it’s fun seeing the actors playing completely different characters too.

We didn’t get much high school stuff with the Gotchard gang even though Houtarou and Rinne were students. So it’s fun to have all of them in this setting for this special.

Definitely fun stuff for the Supana-Lachesis shippers. (Myself included! Lol) Houtarou was himself. But Clotho was definitely the opposite of the badass sister we knew for 50 episodes hehe. So seeing her shy and crushing on Houtarou was fun.

Same with Rinne. Seeing her as the agent of chaos compared to the seriesRinne initially being the stern, rule-abiding person is the kind of fun switch we can enjoy in these specials.

Kinda wish we got more fun from Sabimaru, Renge and Minato. Cute mentions of Harima and Gurion. And both Ryo and Atropos as the vice principal and teacher are perfect of course.

Overall, a fun special. And definitely made me miss the Gotchard gang.
