Spindo cannot believe his friend Bun would fake his death. He speaks with Grantu Risk and tells him to compile the Earth data collected by MadRex, Cannonborg and Disrace. With it, he’ll be able to work out the best course of action to take against Bundorio.
Meanwhile, Sakito arrives at the Garage and informs them all that Byundi is not coming. BunBun wanted to tell Byundi everything, but Sakito says Byundi does not want to hear it. Taiya tells Sakito to listen instead.
Sakito says sure and tells them that Byundi felt hurt wondering why BunBun did not confide in him. BunBun says he was weak and had wondered how he could talk to Byundi, only it was too late.
Sakito secretly calls Byundi, allowing him to hear BunBun as he begins his story.
BunBun says him being unable to win the BBG broke his confidence. That’s when a secret fan gave him parts for improvement. BunBun was so happy and he installed the parts. But he ended up in a crash. That’s when his license got revoked.
However, not for the crash but for illegal modification. BunBun was shocked. But he asked that no announcement be made to ensure Byundi did not get dragged down with him. That’s why he decided to leave.
As soon as he lost his license, BunBun said he also lost all the people around him. And that took an emotional and mental toll on him. He could not trust anyone. And at his lowest and most vulnerable point, he met Spindo.
Turned out Spindo was the secret fan. And he was able to take advantage of BunBun’s weak heart and manipulate him into joining a supposedly new racing outfit called the Hashiryan.
BunBun says he stayed mostly behind the scenes during this time, developing what has become the Kurumaju system. One that was originally designed to allow those who can’t race to race.
When BunBun found out the illegal parts were Spindo’s doing and that the system he created caused harm to people by collecting gassholin, he was scared. So he worked with the police to take down Spindo.
Spindo is now on a prison planet, but Sakito says the Hashiryans are in cahoots with the police anyway. That has allowed the Hashiryan to maintain power in the galaxy.
Mira and Jou each take one of BunBun’s hands. Mira thanks BunBun for talking to them and says past is past. Jou says they are a team. BunBun is touched and encouraged by their words. And he vows to not run away any longer, but finally beat the Hashiryan for good.
As Shirabe starts to cry, Shashiro says BunBun has not run away. He has been fighting this whole time. BunBun thanks them all for their grace.
Genba knows Byundi has heard all of this thanks to Sakito.
Byundi now understands his best bro. But before he can run over to the Garage, the General3 appear with Disrace to take him away.
Shashiro notices Shirabe has been pretty quiet. She says that she understands BunBun. But sooner or later the ISA will come knocking. She knows BunBun’s information will be useful in fighting the Hashiryan.
Just then, the General3 call to show them they’ve got Byundi chained up. But before Disrace can even finish talking, the Boonbooms have already arrived on the scene.
BunBun joins them. Byundi is surprised he is here. But BunBun says he is just grabbing hold of his handle. While this is happening, Sakito has already knocked the General3 out. And when Disrace fires them, they get up and leave.
Byundi says he is okay now and encourages BunBun to fight with all he’s got
Sakito tells the others that for BunBun, they can fight without him today.
Disrace does not understand why the Boonbooms have not collapsed knowing that they have a traitor in their midst. Taiya says the Boonbooms are different from what Disrace might be used to. They will take the wheel and never let go. And that wheel being the fact that they will never turn their back on their friend.
Byundi says that’s truly bakuage!
The Boonbooms henshin to Champion and they do a roll call with BunBun. Disrace summons Nejiretta and the Boonbooms effortlessly take care of them with their Champion gear. Sakito enjoys how fun this all is. Byundi is impressed that this is all BunBun”s creation.
The Boonbooms leave it to Genba to deliver the finisher. Genba takes this opportunity to avenge his family, his friends and his people. With the others’ support, Genba delivers a Bakuage Champion Driver finisher at Disrace.
Disrace taunts Genba that the Hashiryan are still in control of Bureki. But Genba vows to liberate it.
Before he flies himself into space, Disrace says Bunbun will always be a traitor.
Sakito tells Genba to go and settle this once and for all. The Boonbooms hop into Champion Carrier and they launch into space. Disrace can’t believe they were able to follow him.
The Boonbooms combine the Cars with Champion Carrier to form Boonboomger Robo Champion.
The Boonbooms face off against Disrace on the surface of the moon. Disrace summons Nejiretta twice, but the Boonbooms easily take care of them. They focus their attention back on Disrace. And with a Champion Road Bakuage Champion Boonboom Finish Line finisher, Disrace is done for good.
With his final words, Disrace says Spindo will never forgive BunBun. And that he will be coming to Earth sooner rather than later. BunBun says Spindo can bring it as he is not running anymore.
Back at the Garage, Shashiro points out Shirabe has been very quiet again. Trying to hide her emotion still, Shirabe says she’s just happy they’re all okay.
Taiya asks Genba how he’s feeling. Genba feels refreshed and he vows to take back his spot in the royal family.
BunBun apologizes to Byundi. But Byundi also apologizes for acting so immature. He suggests they fight together once Spindo comes.
As BunBun and Byundi officially make up, Sakito cheers them on. As thanks to Sakito for helping to bring the two of them back together, BunBun is excited to make some special curry tonight for everyone!
Episode Thoughts
This was a wonderful, excellent episode! Really great to learn what happened to BunBun and a perfect way to introduce us to Spindo while officially wrapping up this arc of the season.
I think BunBun’s expository storytime was executed quite well. Though Taiya and Shashiro knew of BunBun working with the Hashiryan, BunBun still had to tell the others of his story. Especially his best bro Byundi.
I loved Sakito doing the secret call move to have Byundi be able to hear BunBun’s words live. And that detail helped make BunBun’s storytime feel natural and sensical rather than be a contrived infodump session.
The scene also gave us many wonderful character moments. Like Sakito’s coming to the Garage fully expecting to do what he can to have the best bros make up. Or Mira and Jou taking a worried and sorry BunBun’s hands and assuring him that everything’s okay. And even Shirabe being so emotional hearing what her favorite has gone through.
Especially with Mira and Jou, the reactions and feelings of all of them truly fit their personalities and added a great and welcome sincerity to the moment. These are the kinds of moments I really appreciate and love to see on either Toei toku series. Just really good character-driven moments and stories.
Again, BunBun’s story helps to introduce us to Spindo and to this next arc. And it provided Disrace with an actually fitting end.
This sequence from Boonboomger 35 is another example of how well the team at Toei knows how to seamlessly weave together amazing stunt work/choreography, real-life action and practical & special effects. Fun, exciting, creative, clever, character-driven. Love it!#ブンブンジャー pic.twitter.com/OcNxEl4ntz

The entire Champion battle sequence with the Boonbooms and Nejiretta was so exciting, creative and definitely badass. It’s so easy to love Toei’s seamless and slick use of real-life physical action and practical and special effects. Can absolutely rival any big budget Hollywood blockbuster in execution and impact.
That excellent sequence, starting with the fun roll call with BunBun’s “Bun…dorio Bunderas” line all the way to Genba delivering that final shot at Disrace; So good. Action sequences that draw upon character-driven details. So awesome!
Also awesome is the new Champion Robo of course and that entire mecha battle on the moon! It’s great and refreshing to have some action in a different setting. And they really went all out with the debut, as they should! It resulted in that exciting final action sequence. Again, worthy of Disrace’s defeat and also the debut of the new toy! Who wouldn’t want to go out and buy a Boonboomger Robo Champion now!?
The episode’s final scene back in the Garage helped complete the day’s emotional and joyful happenings. A perfect bookend to an excellent, wonderful episode. Let’s continue to bakuage to the end!
