Genba arrives at The Garage and is touched to see everyone excitedly preparing a welcome home party for him. As he walks in, BunBun runs to hug him and they are all happy that Genba has been able to regain control of his wheel.
Tsundere king Shashiro asks Genba if there’s anything he wants to say. Genba bows in apology to everyone. He says this is a pretty warm place. And he now realizes he was a fool for running away from it.
Now that that’s settled, Sakito asks Taiya for his payment. Taiya has an announcement for everyone and BunBun goes to reveal the new Boonboom Car: Champion Carrier.
With the help of ToQ-Oh’s Renketsu system, they were able to complete the Champion Carrier which will allow them to transport Cars as they travel to different planets like how the BBG.
Mira asks if they can go on a test run. Taiya says he has a perfect job for that as Mr. Naito had asked if they could lend out a Boonboom Car for the children at an event his company is sponsoring.
The Boonbooms hop into the Cars and they are able to link up to Champion Carrier. Sakito and Byundi stay behind with BunBun as the others set off on the trip.
Meanwhile, the General3 are sad that MadRex may really not be coming back this time. Disrace bluntly says he won’t and it is because of the Boonboomgers. Dekotorade and Ittasha are upset at the Boonboomgers. But Yaruka says it’s Disrace’s fault for bringing MadRex back in the first place.
Disrace says he was just letting MadRex come to tidy up some unfinished business. The General3 says MadRex’s dream was to successfully complete Earth’s takeover. Yaruka thinks Dekotorade and Ittasha are just being played, but they won’t listen.
Disrace tells them to get revenge on the Boonboomgers. Ittasha keys in an electric guitar to bring about Electric Guitar Guruma.
Now on the road, Taiya explains that the BBG has 12 courses, one each on different planets which each have their own unique challenges such as terrain and conditions. Each course takes one year in Earth time. And the biggest challenge is to be able to decide which Boonboom Car would be best for each planet’s course.
Just then, the General3 and Electric Guitar Guruma show up and chase after them. They try to run the Carrier off the road. Sakito, Byundi and BunBun hurry out to help them.
Taiya takes control of Champion Carrier as the other four hop out of the cockpits to battle Nejirettas who have boarded it.
As Disrace watches the scene, he gets two very important phone calls.
Taiya orders everyone back in the cockpits. And together, they are able to derail the General3 and Kurumaju, causing their cars to fall off the side of the cliff.
The Boonbooms take refuge in a cave system and see that the Carrier has not suffered much damage. BunBun, Sakito and Byundi arrive. Sakito and Byundi offer to escort them from now on.
Suddenly, Disrace appears. Genba takes a shot at him which Disrace swats away.
Disrace marvels at Bundorio Bunderas being alive. He knew he saw him somewhere. And that was on a list of people waiting to be executed.
Disrace says he definitely knows Bundorio because he was the favorite of big boss Wild Spindo. Disrace reveals BunBun was a Hashiryan.
Taiya shoots at Disrace to shut up.
He says no matter what Disrace tries to do, it will not make the Boonboomgers waver. Disrace says it’s too late because the big bosses have heard everything. He taunts Bundorio about having more sleepless nights.
BunBun apologizes to everyone for having never said anything. But it’s true, he used to be a Hashiryan. Everyone is speechless until Byundi speaks up. He cannot believe BunBun disappeared and was presumed dead, but he was deep inside with the villains the whole time.
Why would you stoop so low, Byundi asks. Both Taiya and Shashiro knew about BunBun being a Hashiryan, but not that he was the boss’ favorite. This team has so many secrets, Mira says. Jou asks why Taiya and Shashiro stayed quiet. BunBun says he asked them to. The Hashiryan showing up increased the numbers of their team. And he was afraid that they would leave if they knew of BunBun’s secret. Mira and Jou run over to BunBun and say that they would never leave. They know how much BunBun cares about them.
Byundi says they are all too soft. He points out BunBun has a strong connection to the enemy. So he cannot work with BunBun any longer. Byundi grabs Sakito and leaves.
Suddenly, the General3 appear with a now-embiggened Electric Guitar Guruma. BunBun again apologizes for getting them mixed up in this and he asks them for help once more. The Boonbooms henshin to Champion.
Taiya, Jou and Genba combine into Boonboomger Robo Safari Custom. And they are able to cut the strings off of the Kurumaju’s guitar. Jou and Mira release the Cars from the Carrier so it can go into attack mode. And together, they finish off the Kurumaju for good.
Taiya is speaking with Mr. Naito who says it’ll be fine if they are a little late with the delivery. After hanging up, Mr. Naito calls Director Tokoyari to discuss a report of some kind.
Later, BunBun says he will talk with Byundi and tell him everything that’s happened since leaving the BBG. The others encourage him and they all acknowledge this might not be the best time for a BBG.
Meanwhile, Wairudo Spindo is enjoying a meal when his officer confirms that Bundorio is alive. Spindo is annoyed that BunBun was not executed. He takes his anger out on the officer by dismantling him.
Spindo says he is eager to try BunBun’s Gassholin.
Episode Thoughts
A very interesting episode! First, I loved that scene in the beginning welcoming Genba back. It’s another great way to show the wonderful bonds these guys have formed with each other already. Lots of fun. And it would’ve been nice to see them enjoy the party a bit more before the show decided to tear them all apart! Hmph! Lol Just kidding.
But of course, that scene very much was foreshadowing the big revelation later about BunBun. I don’t think I expected it. Maybe I’m a bit like Taiya and Shashiro that it wouldn’t be a surprise if BunBun was working with the Hashiryan or something similar. But to be a “favorite”, that’s definitely intriguing. But I expect to see a good story about the why and how for BunBun. Why he was with the Hashiryans, why he ran away and how he did it.
I think learning about BunBun’s story and having him and Byundi work out their conflict will be the perfect way to introduce the big boss. Don’t know if Spindo will be the Final Boss, but of course as the head of the Hashiryans, it’s a big character. So BunBun’s story is the perfect entry point to learning about this guy.
It will be great to see BunBun and Byundi’s relationships explored a bit more through learning about what happened to BunBun as well.
After Genba returns to the Boonbooms (and great to see the opening credits back the way it should be! Hehe), now we have to work on getting BunBun and Byundi back as friends. It was a nice detail to see Sakito being a bit more “soft”, as Byundi called the others, and perhaps not agreeing with Byundi turning his back on BunBun.
Is that why the two of them aren’t on the Champion team yet? We’re gearing up for one big awesome episode of all eight of them (and Shirabe too!) coming together as the ultimate bakuage team? I’m excited for it if so! Hehe
But that was a great moment for Sakito as a character and I’m sure we’ll see the two bros BunBun and Byundi back together soon.
With the scene of the reveal, I like the idea of the Boonbooms being shocked to hear the news, but surprising BunBun by being understanding of him. Like Mira and Jou were. I would’ve liked to have seen the show touch upon that more as it ended up being a bit more passive.
And all the action scenes this episode were really exciting. Especially loved seeing the Boonbooms fighting off the Nejiretta on top of Champion Carrier as Taiya speeds them down the road.
And it was a bit MaxRex… I mean, Mad Max with that scene in the “desert” too!
So a big episode that kicks off the next arc of the season. It’s kind of sad though since it’s starting to feel like we’re heading into the final stretch even though we still have a few more months. But only just. It’s been such a fun season so far. But I’m ready for more exciting stories coming!
