DryedMangoez Music Monday… on a Monday?!?! Wowow! Lol But yes! A pair of great rock performances and a pair of groovy pop tracks from Xdinary Heroes, CNBLUE, EPEX and AB6IX this week!
“Night Before the End” by Xdinary Heroes
I haven’t kept up with Xdinary Heroes’ Open Beta project, but I finally get the opportunity now with the release of their latest album Live and Fall. It includes the songs they’ve released the last couple of months as well as the new title track “Night Before the End”. This excellent rock ballad is very much the kind of vibe of my favorite songs from the band. And they deliver another captivating performance here. Of the other tracks on the album, “Save Me” is another favorite.
“A Sleepless Night” by CNBLUE
Always great to have fresh music from CNBLUE. And title track “A Sleepless Night” is so quintessential CNBLUE. The midtempo rock track perfectly encapsulates the lyrics’ bittersweet emotions, especially of its Korean title “Is It You or That Time” from a poem by Ha Sang Wook. The rest of the album X has a nice mix of ballads and energetic rock performances.
“My Girl” by EPEX
Very exciting to learn EPEX is preparing to release a full album soon. And pre-release track “My Girl” is a great taste of what’s to come I hope. The R&B and hip-hop-infused pop track is has a sweet message and its groovy melody is very catchy. Looking forward to the new release!
“NVKED” by AB6IX
AB6IX returns with title track “NVKED,” a funky punk-pop track about being honest and confident. It’s a fun and very catchy song. But to be honest, it’s probably not a song I’ll be regularly going back to. The B-side tracks on the album Born Like This might, however. The four other tracks are a strong mix of pop, rock and hip-hop. And each are probably a bit more my speed. Still, overall, a very good album from AB6IX.
