The 10th Leg of the Race has teams in Phang Nga, Thailand and traveling to Natai Beach by songthaew. They will immediately encounter the Detour: Raise It or Kick It.

For both Detours, teams will travel to Kohn Panyee, a fishing village built on stilts. In Raise It, teams must use old-school map-reading skills to find two marked shops, one with bamboo poles and the other with a string of flags. They must then find the Newfern Restaurant where they will assemble the poles and hoist up the flags. In Kick It, will head to a floating soccer field and complete a series of drills including headers, footwork and goal scoring.

Brooke & Adam and Bam Bam & Logan choose Kick It while Pete & Bridget and Billy & Oscar choose Raise It.

Brooke & Adam and Bam Bam & Logan have a bit of trouble with the drills, especially when their balls fall into the water and have to be retrieved by the children. Bam Bam & Logan are able to score their goal on their 3rd attempt.

Pete & Bridget are the first to assemble their flag poles followed by Billy & Oscar. Brooke & Adam finally score their goal after their 14th attempt.

After the Detour, teams must make their way to Khao Phing Kan, an island made famous by The Man with The Golden Gun. And next to it is Ko Tapu, a 30-metre tall islet that served as the backdrop of James Bond’s final showdown with Scaramanga. Teams will have to swim to this islet to retrieve the next clue.

That clue directs teams to search the island for the Man with the Golden Sunnies who is hiding in the limestone caves.

Bam Bam & Logan find the man with Pete & Bridget close behind. Billy & Oscar have no trouble retrieving the clue. But Adam is not a good swimmer and has a bit of trouble reaching the clue. Brooke tells him to take it easy and rest before continuing.

The next clue tells teams to head back to the mainland to a local banana plantation. Teams must properly make six khao tom mud, a Thai dessert, to receive the next clue.

On the way back to the mainland, Brooke & Adam’s boat breaks down and they have to transfer onto a new one. They are able to catch up to everyone else at the plantation.

Bam Bam & Logan get the thumbs down on their first two attempts. But Pete & Bridget get their khao tom mud approved on their 2nd. Bam Bam & Logan get approved on their 3rd.

Teams can now make their way to Hot Spring Beach, the Pit Stop for this Leg.

Pete & Bridget reach the Mat and Beau checks them in as Team #1. While running to the Mat, a plank on the pier gives way under Bam Bam’s feet. But he gets back up and he and Logan get to the Mat as Team #2.

Brooke & Adam manage to get their khao tom mud approved on their first attempt while Billy & Oscar have to fix theirs and get the thumbs up on their 2nd.

Brooke & Adam step on the Mat as Team #3. Billy & Oscar are last, but this is a Non-Elimination Leg.

Episode Thoughts

Definitely not a surprise this was a Non-Elimination Leg. So going through the episode, there was a bit of a lack of excitement. And it was a pretty simple Leg again in a beautiful location. So overall it was just an okay episode.

I think this Leg might have been better with more teams. Maybe even just two or three more.

The Detour was good. Both tasks were straightforward. But very nice to feature this floating village. I think maybe they could’ve done another task in the village.

Featuring the James Bond island is a great Route Marker in the middle of the Leg.

And the kaho tom mud task is alright. Definitely an Active Route Info-kind of task. Underwhelming to have as the last task of the Leg. Perhaps another task on the mainland would be good. But it’s okay.

Again, overall, an okay episode with an expected ending.
