The Amazing Race Philippines: DryedMangoez Edition Season 24 Race Tracker – Leg 1

The Race begins at the University of the Philippines. And the teams’ first major decision of the Race reverberated through to the Pit Stop! Nine teams decided to try for the Special Items, but only five of them came out with a reward. Meanwhile, the four teams who went straight to the clue ropes (Inigo & Sebastian, Paulo & Miguel, Bernadette & Icee and Mike & John) would build an early lead that would prove difficult for the other teams to make up.

At the first Road Block, those four teams stay out in front. But Shamcey & Lloyd and Nina & Calvin are able to move up a few spots as they quickly get a handle on the baybayin. It is the opposite for Andres & Atasha and Olivia & Chandler (both teams who grew up abroad) who have a bit of trouble, keeping them at the back of the pack.

While Mike & John begin losing some ground, Inigo & Sebastian, Paulo & Miguel and Bernadette & Icee continue to maintain their 20 minute and more lead through the relief map puzzle and padyak-ing to the CCP.

Placements begin fluctuating for the rest of the teams through the puzzle and on the way to the CCP to deliver it.

Most of the early teams to arrive at the Detour believe the Concrete Creativity side would be easier to complete. Scottie & Jinky, Andres & Atasha and Betong & Maey, now at the back of the pack, are forced to choose Performance Perfection when all the slots of the concrete Detour are filled.

However, the modern pandanggo turned out to be the less time consuming task. And many of the dancing teams end up making up lots of time.

Bernadette & Icee and Klea & Katrice are actually the first teams to complete the Detour. However, the concrete side of the Detour is closer to the Pit Stop location at the PICC. It is a foot race to the Mat and brothers Inigo & Sebastian mange to just beat Bernadette & Icee by seconds to claim the Leg win. Klea & Katrice finish 3rd.

Valeen & Chariz’s dancing skills get them a 4th place finish while Paulo & Miguel take 5th, even as they have trouble finding the Mat.

Teams begin finishing up the Detour within minutes of each other. And another footrace ensues as teams have trouble finding the partially hidden Mat. Olivia & Chandler, who had been last most of the day, step on the Mat as Team #6. Right behind them in succession and within seconds are Betong & Maey, Scottie & Jinky, Paolo & Bubbles, Shamcey & Lloyd and Nina & Calvin as they scramble and end up following each other to the Pit Stop.

It’s down to the final two teams. And it is Andres & Atasha who reach the Pit Stop to check-in as Team #12. Mike & John check-in two minutes later and they draw a Speed Bump Penalty Envelope.
