The Race continues immediately as teams must now make their way to Mpandlane Village in Magaliesburg with 500 rand or $41 for this Leg. Brooke & Adam arrive and open the first clue revealing the Detour: High Kick or Paint Slick.
In High Kick, teams must learn and perform a Zulu tribal war dance. In Paint Slick, teams must replicate an intricate patter of colors, lines and dots on an Ukhamba drinking pot.
Brooke & Adam and Bam Bam & Logan choose to dance. Chloe & Emily choose the painting while Havana & Steph choose to dance as well. Thorpie & Christian and Billy & Oscar arrive next and they go paint. They are surprised to see Pete & Bridget are still in the Race when they arrive at the painting too.
Brooke & Adam and Bam Bam & Logan fail their first performances. Havana & Steph go for an attempt and they get the thumbs up. Bam Bam & Logan pass on their 3rd attempt while Chloe & Emily get their pot approved on their 2nd. Brooke & Adam leave the Detour next followed by Thorpie & Christian followed by Billy & Oscar and then Pete & Bridget.
After the Detour, teams will head to Warthogs Bush Lodge for a safari. They must sign-up at the board under either Herbivore or Carnivore and wait for everyone else to arrive in glamping cabins.
The teams then head out to feed either the herbivores or carnivores before enjoying a barbeque and campfire chit-chat for dinner.
Next morning, teams begin the next Leg resume the Leg in the order they arrived at the reserve. And the first clue is a Road Block: Who has the winning smile?
The Crade of Humankind is home to the largest concentration of human remains anywhere in the world. For this Road Block, teams will dig a marked site to find a full set of human teeth, 28 in total.
While the others head off to the Road Block, Pete & Bridget must first complete their Speed Bump. They must clean out the ash from their campfire last night and restock the wood for future guests.
Steph arrives at the dig site first and gets started. Brooke, Chloe, Logan, Oscar and Christian arrive and start digging. Pete & Bridget quickly finish their Speed Bump and Bridget is able to catch up and start the Road Block.
While the other teams are starting to find lots of teeths, Steph seems to have trouble even finding a few. Brooke then gets all 28 teeth approved and she and Adam get the next clue. Even after arriving last, Bridget is the next to find all the teeth.
After the Road Block, teams will drive deep into the Crade of Humankind to find Nirox Sculpture Park, the Pit Stop for this Leg.
On the drive, Brooke & Adam take a left while Pete & Bridget take a right. It appears Brooke & Adam take the correct turn and they step on the Mat as Team #1. This time, they do get a hotel upgrade.
Back at the Road Block, Oscar and Chloe are next to get their teeth approved. While Steph is starting to worry and feel frustrated that she can’t find her final tooth, Pete & Bridget realize they must be going the wrong way and turn around.
At the Pit Stop, Chloe & Emily are able to reach the Mat before Billy & Oscar and they finish as Teams 2 and 3, respectively.
Logan and Christian get their teeth approved and the two teams hurry to the Pit Stop. Havana & Steph are now in last.
Bam Bam & Logan get to the Mat and check-in as Team #4. Thorpie & Christian are Team #5.
At the Road Block, Steph finally finds her 28th tooth. Havana tries to cheer her up and they hurry.
Pete & Bridget stop at a gas station to get directions and some kind locals offer to lead them to where they need to go. On the way, the locals suddenly stop by the side of the road and point them in the right direction.
It’s now a race to the Pit Stop. And it is Pete & Bridget who arrive next to check-in as Team #6.
That means Havana & Steph are last and eliminated.
Episode Thoughts
WTF. This is Amazing Race Canada levels of absurdity. Actually, it’s TARAu 5 and 6 level of insanity too. What a horribly designed Leg. And yes, I’m even more annoyed considering a team I was rooting for was the victim of it.
There is absolutely zero reason to have placed the (literal) kumbaya dinner and glamping treat in the middle of the Leg. They could’ve easily ended Leg 5 as a normal Non-Elimination Leg. Get teams to the lodge during the Pit Stop and still had all the funsies at the barbecue.
Or if they insisted on a Virtual Pit Stop, come up with a different task before getting to the lodge then having the Detour in the morning.
The town where the Detour was staged was anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes away from the lodge. There is no reason they couldn’t have done the Detour in the morning and paired it with the Road Block on one day.
Instead, they basically ran a Leg with only one task and it was a needle in a haystack task at that. Actually, 28 needles. The results of the Detour were negated by the yummy barbecue and singing songs by the campfire. Yay?
Really one of the worst designed Legs I’ve ever seen on any Amazing Race. Absolutely a blemish on these two otherwise excellent (so far) celebrity seasons. I mean, I feel like I just experienced an episode from seasons 5 and 6 it was so baffling. And I definitely do not want to ever re-experience those two seasons. Not even TAR Canada 10’s dumb Leg erasing was as bad as this here.
Really ruined what should have been a great Leg in a stunning location with good tasks. The teeth Road Block is not bad on paper. But again, when it’s basically the only task of the Leg after the Detour was negated, it sucks.
Were some of the people designing TARAu5 and 6 Legs involved here or something? Last season’s camping night was also somewhat awkward, but at the very least had the Detour and the street food task before the Pit Stop.
Horrible Leg making it a horrible episode and finishing with a horrible result. Hmph.
Team Thoughts
Havana & Steph’s Race ended by a tooth. But really sabotaged by a horribly designed Leg. They really could’ve gone all the way. And if I didn’t know any better, TARAu just really does not want an all-female team to ever outright win at this point. Hmph!
Can’t even care about the other teams right now I’m so annoyed. Lol But Bam Bam & Logan all the way now I guess. And perhaps Brooke & Adam too.

It’s a celebrity show for charity, get over it. Fuck.
Or maybe you calm down and get over my dumb post instead.
