Taiya can’t help but continue thinking about MadRex and how he believes MadRex is not behind the wheel at this time.
Meanwhile, Disrace has finished fixing MadRex up after last episode, returning him to his fully controlled state. The General3 are a bit sad and they think about when they first met MadRex.
Dekotorade, Ittasha and Yaruka had failed a mission and were about to be defeated when MadRex appeared, responding to their hopeful spirit. After saving them, he reached his hand out to them. And ever since then, they’ve been able to go full speed with a reckless spirit.
They are determined to bring his memories back. While Disrace is on a phone call with someone, the General3 are able to convince him to let them take MadRex out for some food.
Instead, the General3 try to find ways to jog his memory. Only none of their ideas work. Even them acting like the Boonbooms. When MadRex picks up the BunRed mask Yaruka had used, the General3 realize that perhaps MadRex’s connection to BunRed is the key.
Using Boonboom Danger, Ittasha calls the Garage. BunBun answers the call, not knowing who it is and Ittasha pretends to be requesting their delivery services. BunBun wonders why there’s an order request on this channel, but he accepts the job anyway.
BunBun gives Taiya the order and Taiya leaves to take care of it. An amused Sakito sees Taiya driving by and heading out for a delivery. But Byundi feels something is not right here as he had picked up on a strange signal recently near the Boonbooms. Shashiro pops up and asks him to explain more about what they know.
Taiya arrives at the address for the pick-up. But it is a cave and the General3 show themselves to reveal that they have lured Taiya here to battle MadRex.
The General3 try to get MadRex to snap out of his stupor. Taiya realizes his hunch about MadRex not being at the wheel to be correct.
As Disrace tells his friend on the other end of the call he will send him photos of something he wants checked on, he also gets alerted to what the General3 are doing. So Disrace activates MadRex who shoots at Taiya.
Taiya henshins.
Taiya and MadRex battle as MadRex vows to eliminate Taiya. The General3 fear that their beloved MadRex-sama is still not present.
Shashiro, Jou and Mira come running. They prepare to henshin, but Dekotorade stops them and seals the cave. Shashiro speeds them out of the cave with the car as the General3 emerge in Boonboom Killer Robo. They vow to keep them away from MadRex.
Jou tries to summon Patrol Car 1 and 2, but Yaruka ends up swiping them from him. Ittasha uses the cars to upgattai Killer Robo.
Shashiro, Mira and Jou instead hop into Boonboomger Robo Monster. They battle the General 3 who are ready to give up their lives to restore MadRex’s memories.
As the General3 put up a strong fight, Mira calls on Dozer to allow them to upgattai and keep fighting.
Back in the cave, Genba does not understand Taiya seemingly showing concern for MadRex. Taiya goes 119 and delivers a ZunZun Overdrive finisher. But MadRex is able to easily counter it.
Genba can’t take Taiya holding back any longer, so he is about to step in. Just then, Sakito and Byundi arrive. Sakito says it is improper for Genba to insert himself into a battle of two other people like this.
Genba tells him to get out of the way. Sakito refuses. The two of them henshin and battle. Byundi hopes everything will be okay.
As Taiya continues struggling against MadRex, so are Shashiro, Mira and Jou against the General3. After seeing Taiya on the ground inside, Shashiro summons Knight so they can upgattai to Boonboomger Robo Knight.
Just like the General3 say they will recklessly race forward with no brakes, Shashiro, Mira and Jou also stay resolute. They deliver a Bakuage Sword Boonboom Finisher, taking the General3 by surprise. As the Killer Robo explodes, the General3 refuse to admit defeat, just like MadRex instilled in them.
Just as MadRex is about to kill Taiya for good, his memory is triggered when he sees Boonboomger Robo Knight.
MadRex’s head hurts again and Taiya takes the opportunity to hit his chest which pushes him back and disappears.
Shashiro, Mira and Jou arrive to help Taiya up.
Meanwhile, Genba and Sakito continue fighting. Genba says there is no reason to fight anymore since MadRex is gone. He speeds off.
Back in their lair, MadRex returns and stands by Disrace’s side. The General3 are alright, though bandaged up. They are sorry they could not help MadRex-sama. But they won’t give up on him.
MadRex seems to hear them, but the General3 don’t think anything of it.
Episode Thoughts
What an interesting episode! The first time we get a villain-focus ep?! I don’t think I can remember any similar type of episode off the top of my head. But what an interesting episode to really flesh out the General3 and MadRex.
I actually very much enjoyed that peek at their backstory. Of course, it by no means redeems or absolves them of their misdeeds on Earth and on other planets. But it presents this interesting dynamic of them as true comrades and teammates.
It also makes me think we will definitely see more from them in the future. I was actually afraid the General3 blew to pieces during Robo Killer’s explosion. But thankfully they were fine lol
That final scene where it seems MadRex has indeed recovered his memories was great. And adding these interesting layers to the antagonists very much helps the overall story by adding some depth to them.
Our villains having depth and be multi-faceted characters is definitely a welcome thing. So I am looking forward to seeing where the show takes them.
Meanwhile, our favorite Boonbooms certainly didn’t disappear. They were very much in the middle of the action. Very interesting for Taiya for seemingly wanting to help MadRex. I dunno. I can understand Genba being annoyed by Taiya not just killing him off of course. But I think we can see a lot of Taiya’s personality here.
Glad to see Genba is still going rogue. But I hope the show can start wrapping his story up soon too.
Shashiro, Mira and Jou fighting hard was also great to see.
I wonder if this week was movie filming week, that’s why we got more henshined scenes and the focus on the villains. Hehe
Overall, it was a very interesting and different type of Sentai episode!

I was really glad when MadRex was resurrected. It would’ve been a waste of such a neat character to just have him appear during less than ten episodes, die, and then never return again. I always figured there was more “depth” to be drawn from his character, mostly due to his consistent trait of having a soft spot for Hashiri-Ken and putting the dog’s “needs” above everything else. I mean, a guy who loves and cares for his dog like that can’t be all bad, right? Lol.
And maybe them working hard to jumpstart his memories and officially bring him back will result in MadRex fully extending that kindness to the General3 as well….
Very nice to see the show doing a lot with the villains. It can really a lot to the story, especially in building up our heroes.
Boonboomger has a good mix of fun and drama. Very nice.
Yes I agree! Good balance and good pacing.
Very surprising episode. I like the idea they are going with in these episodes. Good pacing. I anticipate the payoffs.
Good pacing is a huge positive. And Boonboomger has that.
