Catching up on the latest tracks Yoon Sanha, Kim Myungsoo, NIve, &TEAM and The Boyz.
“Dive” by Yoon San Ha
Wowowow! I don’t know what I was expecting from Yoon San Ha’s solo debut. But title track “Dive” is a very pleasant surprise. The R&B-powered alternative pop track has a perfectly atmospheric and moody vibe that gives Sanha the opportunity to really showcase a different side of himself as an artist. The song’s melody definitely suits the pensive lyrics. And Sanha’s performance is really an attention-grabber. A few more listens and this might find a spot on my year-end favorites list! A few other tracks from Dusk could be contenders as well, particularly “Bittersweet Mistake”, “Losing My Mind” and “Yeowoobyul”. Really a great release from Sanha!
“How Can I Not Love You” by L (Kim Myungsoo)
L/Kim Myungsoo makes his solo comeback with title track “How Can I Not Love You”. The acoustic pop track is a warm track that has L expressing the positive feelings of the lyrics with his great performance. The rest of the album 24/7 is a diverse mix of tracks. The upbeat “Blue Summer” with its title fitting for the season, midtempo “My Universe” and ballad “I Want to Say” definitely showcase L’s versatility.
“TMI” by Nlve
Always great to have fresh music from singer-songwriter NIve. And his new album The Information is a very welcome release. Title track “TMI” is a warm and affectionate song whose lyrics really match the perfect R&B melody with NIve’s always strong vocals.
“Koegawari” by &TEAM
“Samidare” by &TEAM
“Aorashi” by &TEAM
I have really enjoyed &TEAM’s music, especially their more mellow, midtempo tracks. And their latest releases certainly fit the bill, so of course I enjoy them a lot. All three tracks “Samidare”, “Koegawari” and “Aorashi” are the kind of vibe that I really like. And it’s nice to see and hear &TEAM continuing to release music in this style as well. Looking forward to more!
“Gibberish” by The Boyz
I don’t know if I’ve really enjoyed the recent releases from The Boyz. But their Japanese track “Gibberish” might be one that I quite like. The rock-infused track is catchy and the guys deliver another solid and charismatic performance. Not sure if it’ll go on my repeat playlist. But maybe after a few more listens it could.
