Day 5 in the house starts with Youngjoon opening his love fortune advising him that the truth will always be revealed and that he should abstain from lying.
(Lol. Did the show intentionally put that fortune in all of those eggs just to have Youngjoon read it and prepare us for the day? Anyway, Youngjoon is quite annoyed by it and denies he ever lied.
I will say though that the show really should have but a “free date” slip in one of the eggs or like a “date steal” where a guy can steal someone’s date. Just for fun. Right? It would add to the chaos lol)
Meanwhile, in the double room, Hanmin misses the quad room while Seongmin misses when he was roommates with Hwi who was more accommodating to his living style. Up on the top floor, Hwi wakes up and immediately knocks his hea don the ceiling lol
(I’m sorry. Hwi hitting his head on the ceiling will never not be funny. Poor guy lol)
Back in the quad room, Youngjoon tries to get everyone else to wake up. Minseon helps Myeongkyun scoot over to the middle of the bed so he won’t fall off like he did yesterday.
Jaeseung, meanwhile, is waiting on the couch for the mission cards. When Seongmin comes from the bathroom, Jaeseung goes to the double room. Seongmin is embarrassed by his bare face, so Jaeseung closes the door and they chat through it.
Jaeseung says he doesn’t have the courage to be as forward as Hwi, so he decides to just do what he is good at and that is make coffee.
Later, Jaeseung ends up being the first to see the mission cards on the table anyway. And today, the three men who grab the arrow cards first can go on a first date with a man they haven’t dated yet. And that man they choose cannot refuse.
Youngjoon and Hanmin wonder if they should take the cards or not. They decide to take them since they can’t date each other anyway. Jaeseung is surprised that there’s a “first date” stipulation as he did not read the directions before taking a card.
Jaeseung puts the card back saying it has no use to him. Youngjoon and Hanmin suggest just taking a card and pick someone to hang out with since he can’t go with either Hwi or Seongmin.
Hwi comes down and he decides to take the last card for himself.
(I will say, it is a very interesting twist. At first I didn’t think the stipulation would matter. But boy, Youngjoon, Hanmin, Jaeseung and Hwi really strategized this mission like it was Survivor or Big Brother lol)
Hwi goes to Seongmin to tell him about it and then decides to invite Seungjin on a date since he feels comfortable with him. Seungjin, however, is a bit frustrated knowing Hwi isn’t interested in him that way.
Jaeseung asks Hanmin and Youngjoon not to invite him today.
They suggest Hwi could invite Jaeseung, but he believes both of them consider their day at the house a date too. Pius, it would be awkward considering their situation as rivals.
(BUT! I did not realize Jaeseung and Hwi actually have never had a date before. So, I was screaming. NOOOOOO! Jaeseung and Hwi could have actually gotten an actual date?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Why?!?!?!?! Where are the His Man producers and why did they not step in to force it to happen?!?!?!! Lol)
Anyway, Hanmin decides on a roommate date with Seongmin and Youngjoon invites Jaeseung. That means Minseon and Myeongkyun get to stay home together, which is exactly what the two wanted anyway.
The three date couples are hanging out in the double room. Jaeseung and Hwi are jealous of each other being close with Seongmin.
Later, Seungjin sits by the door to the patio and Hwi and Seongmin sit with him. Seungjin, trying to hide his frustration, puts on a happy face by dancing for them. Hwi films him and everyone loves it.
(Just to point out, I think this is the first time I’ve seen an actual cameraman in the shot on the show!
)
The guys head out for their days. First up are Jaeseung and Youngjoon at a cute amusement park. Both are excited as it has been a dream of theirs to go on an amusement park date
They have fun on the rides. At one point, Youngjoon takes Jaeseung’s hand on the Vikings ride just to see if there’s a spark there.
When they sit down for a snack, Jaeseung tells Youngjoon about being curious about him early on, but decided against pursuing his curiosity when Hanmin arrived and went on a date with Youngjoon. Jaeseung though he should not interfere.
Youngjoon brings up the triangle. Jaeseung says he feels a bit uncomfortable with Hwi. (Nooo!) But he knows that the triangle won’t end until someone gives up. And he is sure neither will.
Jaeseung is comforted when Youngjoon tells him about Seongmin hoping to date him today.
Jaeseung meanwhile advises Youngjoon to be mindful of Hanmin when having to deal with Myeongkyun. It is up to Youngjoon and Myeongkyun to ensure they don’t cause others to walk on eggshells around them. Youngjoon decides to settle things with Myeongkyun today
Elsewhere, Hanmin and Seongmin go to a museum exhibit. Hanmin does his best to try and be excited about the date even though the museum isn’t really his thing. Hanmin is more of an athletic outdoorsy person
While having coffee, Seongmin brings up Hanmin and Jaeseung being mutuals on IG. Hanmin mentions he was able to chat with Jaeseung a lot last night. Seongmin asks if he can know what they talked about.
Hanmin then expresses how others quickly called him and Youngjoon a couple and how it made him question what was happening. Hanmin thought they were supposed to go on dates with other people. But everyone sort of pressured him to stick with Youngjoon.
Hanmin says even if he’s interested in someone, he’d rather not cause more trouble. The more choices there are, the more trouble there could be. Seongmin is unsure why Hanmin would stop himself from dating other people when he’s not sure about Youngjoon.
Seongmin thanks Hanmin for comforting him that day when he cried. He says he feels more at ease speaking with Jaeseung. He has been thinking about looking for a long-term relationship. So he wonders if Hwi could be that one.
Hanmin and Seongmin agree Jaeseung is a very caring person.
After this date, Seongmin now sees Hanmin more of a good friend rather than boyfriend
Back home, Myeongkyun and Minseon make lunch with recipes from Myeongkyun’s notebook he brought with him here. Afterwards they go play in the pool and Minseon makes them some coffee to enjoy.
They then clean up after last night’s party, put the birthday banner by Seongmin’s bed and then take a nap together.
Later, Jaeseung and Youngjoon are first to come home. Myeongkyun decides to approach Youngjoon and asks him to come out with him to try and resolve their conflict
Moving on to Episode 10, it begins with Hwi and Seungjin’s date at a pottery workshop. They just hope to have a nice friendly day together. After making cups, a vase and a pasta bowl, they go to the café.
Seungjin says he’s not really interested in anyone and no one seems to be interested in him. Hwi suggests Seungjin tell Jaeseung about his feelings for him. But Seungjin says his personality makes him unable to do so. Especially knowing Jaeseung’s feelings for Seongmin
The two of them talk about their true personalities and how they have both dealt with being in Men’s House. They appreciate their nice relaxing date together.
Back home, Jaeseung and Minseon talk about the love triangle. Jaeseung says he feels a bit isolated in the house. Even Hwi has Seungjin by his side. And during the anonymous chat rooms, he could hear the two of them chatting away upstairs. Jaeseung says it upset him so much that he though he hated Hwi. At the same time, he also understands him. But he’s still bitter about it. And when he would hear his name being talked about, it upset him.
(At this point, I wanted Jaeseung to be honest with us and say he felt jealous that Hwi and Seungjin seem to be close. Or perhaps say he doesn’t understand why it affects him, but we know it’s because Hwi is really who he has feelings for lolol)
The others arrive home and Hwi helps Seongmin cook dinner. They share sweet moments, making Jaeseung jealous. Jaeseung gets some tea and asks Seongmin to come to the balcony later .
Jaeseung and Hanmin go up there now. Jaeseung admits that he seems bothered by many little things regarding Hwi. He even wore all red to stand out, but then Hwi changed into bright pink. Jaeseung is uneasy about having to fight a young kid like Hwi. But he won’t give up on his feelings and be more of a fighter now to show he is not a pushover.
Jaeseung says he is sure Hwi gave him the anonymous question. And because of that, he does not like him anymore. (NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!1!)
Back in the kitchen, Minseon ends up taking over and leading Seongmin and Hwi in cooking dinner. Jaeseung and Hanmin come back down just as Seongmin is holding a portable fan for Hwi and wiping sweat off his face.
(Lolol This back and forth is hilarious! Funny how they started dinner without even mentioning where the exes were. But even funnier watching the silent war between Jaeseung and Hwi with Seongmin awkwardly in the middle, though of course enjoying it a bit I think.)
Speaking of Myeongkyun and Youngjoon, they arrive a nearby café to chat
Myeongkyun believes if he doesn’t speak up this time, he will never have a chance to fix this. He wants to take this opportunity to speak face to face while he has it.
Myeongkyun expresses how he thought they were progressing positively in their relationship back then. Youngjoon says he was looking for a long-term relationship. But Youngjoon says he didn’t feel that from Myeongkyun, so that’s why he just cut off contact with him. Not to the point of blocking him, but saying he thought that not replying would be enough of a hint. Myeongkyun says he took the fact that they did not end it clearly as being an opening to hope for getting back together.
Myeongkyun admits that he is not the type to easily say cheesy or romantic things. And he says he realizes now that he should have expressed his feelings in a more direct way. But since it was his first relationship, he was not that confident yet.
Myeongkyun expresses how he was hopeful when seeing Youngjoon here as he thought they could finally have a chance to talk about what happened between them. And maybe even have a chance to grow closer once again. But he was taken aback when the first thing Youngjoon said to him was whether or not they should tell the others about knowing each other.
Myeongkyun felt hurt that Youngjoon almost immediately drew a line and couldn’t even consider that he might still like him.
(I really love Myeongkyun for finally pointing out Youngjoon’s really hostile approach to him that first night together.)
Youngjoon is shocked that Myeongkyun would hope for an apology for how he ghosted him as that is not a thought that ever crossed his mind. (What?!
Is ghosting not a concept in Korea? Yikes!)
Youngjoon tells Myeongkyun that when he first walked in, Youngjoon thought Myeongkyun only came on the show to gain popularity for his acting career, not to find love. In fact, Youngjoon says, he has forgotten most of the memories that Myeongkyun seems to hold dear. It never crossed his mind that Myeongkyun would ever think this way.
(omg? As if Myeonkyun wasn’t hurt enough already!)
Youngjoon says Myeongk
yun never expressed his feelings for him. Youngjoon basically says that Myeongkyun should’ve used his first call on him if he thought this way. And that if Myeongkyun brought these things up first, then maybe things could’ve been different. Myeongkyun says he considered it, but after Youngjoon drew the line first, he was scared to get hurt again.
Youngjoon apologizes to Myeongkyun for swearing and yelling at him yesterday. And for making everyone uncomfortable. He says he had a tough time and was stressed yesterday. Especially after the anonymous question.
Myeongkyun explains that he believes Youngjoon is putting up a front while in the house. Youngjoon says Myeongkyun must consider the idea that maybe the Youngjoon he knew back then was not the real one and the Youngjoon he sees in the house actually is.
After a pause, Myeongkyun says he is sorry. Youngjoon asks if he still has feelings for him and Myeongkyun says he does not.
Myeongkyun admits to us that he feels empty.
(Simply put, like Myeongkyun says, they did not understand each other’s dating styles. But I honestly feel Youngjoon’s ghosting of Myeongkyun is the fuel to the negative feelings that exploded here. And really, the biggest fault of either guy. Instead of being clear and direct with Myeongkyun, Youngjoon basically strung him along. Again, communication is the biggest issue for them. But ghosting is such a big fault. It is wild that Youngjoon does not understand what he did wrong.
It’s really almost like there’s zero remorse from Youngjoon. He was more concerned about making it uncomfortable for the rest of the house instead of being concerned about how he hurt Myeongkyun. And I feel like there was gaslighting involved too. I dunno.
You could see Myeongkyun holding back tears again during the entire conversation. And who can blame him. It was basically thrown in his face that he’s wasted these last few years holding out hope that he might get back together with a man who has already forgotten him. That has to be so painful for him. That realization that he was longing for a guy who absolutely did not feel the same about him? Absolutely painful and a shot at his own pride.
Especially considering Youngjoon seems to be Myeongkyun’s first love. Or at least first real relationship.
While it’s great that they seem to have at least moved on a bit, it’s still sad to see what Myeongkyun has gone through and really infuriating to see Youngjoon still not seemingly understanding what he did so wrong.)
Back home, Youngjoon and Myeongkyun are met by their chosen boys Hanmin and Minseon who join them at the table for dinner.
Meanwhile, the developing throuple… I mean, triangle continue their back and forth. Hwi eavesdrops on Seongmin nd Jaeseung on the couch. Then Hwi sees them on the single room balcony. Hwi vents to Seungjin
Hwi has a few strategies to win Seongmin back. First, he will seduce Jaeseung and then choose Seongmin on the last day. Second, he will make croffles for Jaeseung, put it by his bed while he’s asleep and then hope Jaeseung will be so touched.
(Hello! I like that strategy so he will end up realizing he likes Jaeseung more. Duh. Lol)
Anyway, the men see a new mission and it is to write a letter to the man you’re thinking of now. After writing their letters, they go to the phonebooth to see there are two mailboxes. But they wonder what the two mailboxes mean.
Later, Hwi asks Seongmin to come outside and directly asks if he has had a change of heart. Seongmin says yes. They go into the double room and Hwi asks what made Seongmin less interested in him. Seongmin says it’s nothing Hwi did. But more that his feelings for Jaeseung grew as he got to know him.
Hwi says he gets jealous when he sees Seongmin and Jaeseung and adds that he has only ever liked Seongmin since Day 1.
(Now, we know that’s not true since Hwi really did have feelings for Jaeseung. And he said so in confessionals, so we know that’s true.)
Seongmin admits he is hoping to go on a date with Jaeseung tomorrow in order to make sure of his feelings. And he’s always hoped Hwi would try dating other guys too. Hwi says there’s no point in dating other guys because it’s only Seongmin for him.
Seongmin says bluntly that even if he pursues a connection with Jaeseung now and Jaeseung ends up not choosing him in the end, he will have no regrets.
Hwi asks if Seongmin wants him to stop liking him. Seongmin says he was sincere about them being very compatible. But he has just had a change of heart and he has different feelings now.
Seongmin says he is sorry. Hwi tells him not to avoid him as that only hurts him more.
Hwi leaves and goes to his room, calling Seungjin to come with. Hwi tells Seungjin that he is giving up. Seungjin tells Hwi that he has to move past the idea that Seongmin is the only guy for him.
(Well, first of all, Seongmin shouldn’t be conflicted. Just because Hwi likes him does not mean he has to like him back or even choose him. That’s the problem with some fans out there who want to force certain guys together. These guys have their own feelings and preferences and attractions. They are not going to get together just because fans of the show want them to. That’s actually gross to think about how some fans seem to want to force guys together into being a couple. Even when they have no feelings for each other.
If there are no mutual feelings, then there are no mutual feelings. Simple as that.
I do think it was a bit sketch for Seongmin not to come out and tell Hwi to maybe look elsewhere. It was like he wants to hold on to Hwi just in case as a backup.
At the same time, Hwi has some growing up to do even as he is very mature at some points. It feels like Seongmin is his first love. And he’s not been in a position where he has these strong feelings for someone. Especially in this unique environment. It’s good that he can see the situation now, even if it makes him sad. But we have seen since the very first episode that he is definitely one of the younger guys who might romanticize the love they have here rather than maybe the older guys who are looking at it in a more serious and maybe more grounded sense.
Anyway, I was thinking about why no group date yet. That’s something I’ve wished for after both seasons 1 and 2. Maybe on Day 3 or 4. Or after one day of couple dates.
Now the next mission is that the guys who left their letters in the same mailbox will go on a date tomorrow. So it’s a group date. But not the whole house like I hoped.
The thing that annoys me here is why the hell didn’t the show make it so Hwi, Seongmin and Jaeseung went on the same date! Come on! You know you want to work some magic there! You could’ve made it so that happened! lol
Anyway, I somehow feel less excited about next week considering the dynamic between the guys has completely changed on this Day 5.
(Or, fine, I’ll be honest. I’m less excited because it seems there is now zero chance for my Jaeseung-Hwi endgame lololol)
But anyway, we’ll see what Day 6 in the house will bring.
Also, as I write this, the production company of His Man just announced that they will be taking legal action against those spreading false, hateful and malicious comments about the guys and their families:
Their families? Some people really are that crazy to go that far? Yikes! I’ve definitely seen many of those malicious comments. Whether it’s on MyDramaList or Reddit or on the show’s official Instagram. It’s so hateful and cringeworthy. I question the maturity of some of these commenters. (Am I hateful and malicious in saying that? lol) But again, heed the advice of Dabit in the show’s theme song. Don’t be delulu! Just enjoy the show.

Jaeseung is a little bitch fighting with someone 10 years younger than him. And over Seongmin? WTF? Hope Hwi and Seungjin end up together. They are both young and deserve to be happy with each other. Not these old manipulators.
You better watch your words or prepare to get a legal warning from the production company. Be a bit more kind to these guys. They are real people. Not toys you can control for your own fantasies.
Are you gay? If not, then shut up. You have no idea what you’re talking abouot.
Thanks for visiting!
