Recap: His Man Season 3, Episodes 7 and 8

Recap: His Man Season 3, Episodes 7 and 8

I’m sorry fans of His Man 2 (and maybe season 1, though I’m not sure there are many lol). But even just eight episodes in, this third season of His Man might just be the best yet. The romance, the drama, the friendship; it’s all here. There is so much fun and juicy drama, but so much unpredictability as well. You legitimately have no idea what twist or turn will pop up next. And most of the drama and tension hasn’t even been because of the show’s actual twists (secret missions). Nope, these eight single guys are just that emotional and messy. And it’s been an engaging eight episodes watching them so far! Lol

Let’s just go through these two episodes. (I took notes while watching lol)

Episode 7 started out with a fun morning where most everyone was feeling happy and giddy. Of course, Seongmin wasn’t one of them considering the guilt he felt about the room rearranging.

First off, the Jaeseung slander is so annoying. I’m sure they’re just teasing. But you can’t help but sense maybe a bit of jealousy? I dunno. Don’t go accusing me of being a Jaeseung fanboy though lol

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

Anyway at breakfast, Youngjoon jokes Seongmin was the one who did it. But he actually does think that and for good reason. That being the love triangle between him, Hwi and Jaeseung. But Youngjoon also wonders if the new arrangements mean Seongmin is interested in Hanmin.

Youngjoon accepts though that Hanmin is not “his” yet. And he believes Hanmin should be free to get to know other guys too. Which is the right attitude to have! Fight for your guy, but don’t hold him back either! A good attitude to have.

A lighthearted moment (one of the very few in these two episodes) was Seungjin being very annoyed and upset over having to move to the quad room and Seongmin, Hwi, Minseon and Jaeseung helping him to move his many stuffs downstairs.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

As everyone gets settled with the new arrangements, Seongmin heads to his room to be alone. He starts to cry.

So last week, I was kind of annoyed by Seongmin’s “I want to tell you something, but I can’t tell you” attitude at the end. It felt a bit attention-seeking. Maybe something like a “Poor me” kind of deal. And I will admit that I felt the same way again this episode.

Again, I thought he made a good decision with the way he switched things around. He wanted to protect his two guys and wanted an opportunity to get to know another one. That still doesn’t prevent them from talking to others. He’s not locking them in or something. So it was fine. And it’s only for a few days. The guys walk all around the house all day anyway and only ever stay in their rooms when they sleep. So in one sense, Seongmin was making a big deal out of nothing. (Seems to be a contagious personality trait for these guys, as we will see later lolol)

So, Hanmin comes in and tries to comfort Seongmin, thinking it’s because of the love triangle. Jaeseung comes in, but quietly leaves after seeing Seongmin crying. He is unsure what might be troubling him and it makes him sad to see Seongmin sad.

Hwi and Seungjin come in and Seongmin cries some more. They all become more sure that it was him that rearranged the rooms, but they comfort him anyway.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

In the entertainment room, the guys get a message saying they can ask anonymous questions for any guy they are interested in. It’s good that they can ask as many guys as they want.

After a late lunch, Myeongkyun/Youngjoon’s past dalliance comes up. In talking about alcohol tolerance, Myeongkyun remarks that he and Youngjoon have a similar tolerance and Youngjoon snaps back at him with a “How the hell would I know?” Seongmin and Hanmin are a bit taken aback by the sharp response.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

Meanwhile, Jaeseung visits Hwi on the third floor. And while their convo was just them laughing about their love triangle, let me tell you, I was smiling like a fool! Lol I find myself having the biggest smile on my face whenever I see Jaeseung and Hwi alone together.

They understand each other’s feelings for Seongmin. But boy are they trying to suppress their feelings for each other it seems like. Really though, how much more K-drama can you get? Two guys who fight over the same guy but end up with each other in the end. I would love to see it! And after these two episodes, it’s not that far-fetched as it might seem! Hehe.

Moving on, the quad room boys head to the grocery store to shop for their house party later in the evening. Youngjoon continues to be bothered by Myeongkyun’s mere presence even though Myeongkyun seems to be minding his own business most of the time.

Back home, the four other guys gossip about Youngjoon and Myeongkyun. Seongmin had no idea they knew each other. Hanmin tells them about their struggle to sort their baggage out.

I must say, it was amusing to see Hanmin defending his man Youngjoon. But also funny that he was telling everyone Youngjoon, Minseon and Myeongkyun’s business too. lol

The four guys agree that Minseon likes Myeongkyun more than Myeongkyun likes Minseon. They continue their gossip session while decorating the entertainment room for their afternoon party.

Anyway, I let out the biggest laugh here when Seongmin says:
“Those who were left were all my men, so it was fun.”

I was like, Okay Mr. Seongmin and you reverse harem lol I wondered how fans of the show would react to that line considering the negative feelings in the previous seasons to similar thoughts by the guys.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

After the guys come home with the groceries, the young ones get cooking while Jaeseung and Seongmin enjoy some ice cream in the living room. Seongmin takes the opportunity to apologize about not calling him yesterday. But Jaeseung says he has nothing to be sorry about. Seongmin appreciates Jaeseung being considerate and thoughtful of his situation.

Later, they join the others in the kitchen. Seongmin somehow ends up with slicing mushrooms, but he’s not very good with it. Jaeseung steps in and takes over. And Seongmin is very kilig in seeing him be so skilled with a knife.

After cooking, they bring their food outside and toast their sangrias to start their house party.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

Since it’s Seongmin’s birthday the day after they leave, they decide to have this be his party. Especially with the random Happy Birthday decorations lol Hwi wants to give him a letter as a present and is very kilig about it

After eating, the guys dip their feets in the pool. Hwi is especially kilig thinking about how he and Seongmin had their feet kept touching when they had them together in the heart float.

Myeongkyun, meanwhile, sprays Youngjoon’s feet with water and gets an ice cold reaction back.

I so love that they had this fun party day before the expected dramatic evening!

And first up was the questions.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

Seongmin draws the first one and it is his own question for Jaeseung asking how many guys he’s interested in. Jaeseung says two and I was so happy. But then it seems he was just lying. For a good reason so as not to burden Seongmin. But bad for me rooting for a Jaeseung-Hwi endgame lol

Jaeseung draws a question and it is Myeongkyun asking Minseon if he is a sunflower. Minseon answers yes

Minseon draws the next one and it is Youngjoon asking Hanmin to rank the guys based on looks. Hanmin goes Youngjoon, Jaeseung, Hanmin, Hwi, Seongmin, Myeongkyun, Seungjin and Minseon.

Hanmin draws a question for all asking if you could see your lover’s past, would you. Hanmin says no.

Next question is one from Jaeseung for Seongmin asking how many people are you concerned about. Seongmin says three and Hwi wonders who is the 3rd guy.

Hwi gets asked how many guys he is interested in and he answers one. Though Hwi thinks Jaeseung asked, it was actually Seongmin who is touched by the answer knowing he is that “one”.

Minseon asks Myeongkyun what he would like to hear from and say to the one he’s interested in. Minseon wants to know how Myeongkyun expresses himself. Myeongkyun answers that it is enough to just say “I like you”.

A question for all asks if they prefer a lover who doesn’t explain why they are angry or a hot-tempered one who complains about everything. Myeongkyun says he rather have hot tempered lover who gets angry rather than be frustrated by someone who is avoidant.
Youngjoon says he also likes a hot temper as he has been hurt by an avoidant guy before. Myeongkyun can’t believe his answer considering Youngjoon was the one who ghosted him out of nowhere!

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

Youngjoon picks a question for himself. It says he is not being sincere and asks if he can be more honest. The question is of course from Myeongkyun. Youngjoon says he has never been fake or has hidden anything while here, expect for pretending not to know Myeongkyun.

Youngjoon feels Myeongkyun still has feelings for him. Myeongkyun just feels like Youngjoon is being fake while here.

Seongmin draws a question, but hands it to Youngjoon to read. It is actually a question for Jaeseung asking if he is sure about his feelings for Seongmin.

The other guys relish watching the drama of the triangle. (I’ll be honest, I love it too. But it’s a bit mean for your fellow housemates lolol)

Jaeseung is a bit flustered by the question and asks for a bit of time. He thinks Hwi asked the question, but it was actually Seungjin. Jaeseung says he is not sure which disappoints Seongmin. Hwi is relieved and Seungjin is confused.

Hwi reads a question from Youngjoon asking Seungjin if he has expressed his feelings to someone he likes. Seungjin says he becomes more awkward with the one he likes. He doesn’t want him to find out his feelings, so he teases him quite a bit.

Hwi draws an all question which asks if there is a time he felt jealous. Hwi of course answers that he was jealous when Jaeseung took Seongmin out yesterday.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

Hwi draws a question for Hanmin asking if he is interested in someone other than his #1. Hanmin says no. Seongmin takes his answer as meaning he is not open to possibilities, so he sort of gives up on him and is less interested in him now

Minseon draws a question for Seongmin. “Hyung, when you’re troubled, what kind of person do you want beside you?” Seongmin says someone who stays by your side, specifically thinking about Hwi. Hwi feels like his questions were so obvious since all his questions included “hyung”.

Minseon reads the final question and it is from the show saying they will be revealing the secret missions so far. The guys react the most to Seongmin’s secret and they ask how he decided the sleeping arrangements. He hesitates before saying there’s someone he wants to isolate and someone he wanted to know more about. Jaeseung thinks if Seongmin were interested in him, then he would’ve simply swapped him with Hwi.

The guys suddenly get a text message. And it surprisingly announces tonight is Anonymous Chat Room Night. Each chat room will be open for five minutes and the guys can only enter a maximum of two chats.

Jaesung things they are doing this mission to make people fight. And he is absolutely right! Lol. We’re all on the edge of our seats with our popcorn ready to watch it all! Hehe.

The first group chat to open is Youngjoon’s. “Nameless” aka Hanmin appears and they talk about visiting the ocean. No drama here.

Which is the complete opposite of what happens when Myeongkyun’s group chat opens. “Mingcheon” aka Minseon enters first. But another person named “Why are you like this” also comes in and asks what his relationship with Youngjoon is. Minseon thinks this person is Hanmin because he sounds jealous. Myeongkyun initially thinks it is Jaeseung. But it is actually Youngjoon himself.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

Myeongkyun says he and Youngjoon have known each for four years. Youngjoon asks why he keeps avoiding Youngjoon and if something happened here at Men’s House. Myeongkyun says he knows him too well that his presence makes him feel uncomfortable. Youngjoon asks if he has a secret that only he knows. Myeongkyun answers that he might, but that he will keep it a secret until the end now.

While Youngjoon and Myeongkyun argue about what they were, Minseon is annoyed that they are doing this in the group chat when they could have talked privately. After the chat ends, Youngjoon is even more angry and just tired about the situation. Minseon goes out for a smoke and wonders if they were actually lovers and not just casual dating.

Jaeseung’s room is the next to open. Butane aka Seungjin and Zero aka Seongmin have entered. Hanmin has also decided to come in. Since he knows Jaeseung, he wanted to come in and see if he can help him in any way.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

(Bonus points for you Hanmin!)

Seungjin asks if there’s anyone Jaeseung wants to take out on a date. He answers “Seongmin”. Seongmin is kilig by the answer and feels like he likes him a little more again.

Seungjin asks Jaeseung who is the other person he is interested in. Seongmin and Seungjin are shocked when he answers “Hwi”.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

Seungjin realizes that it isn’t merely about age for Jaeseung. He’s really just not into him (Seungjin).

Jaeseung knows the guys in his chat were Seongmin, Hanmin and Seungjin, meaning Hwi did not enter.

Speaking of, Hwi’s is next. Seongmin enters, but Jaeseung does not
Seongmin asks if the third floor is okay and he wants to cry again knowing Hwi does not like it. Hanmin, sitting in his bed next to Seongmin, tries to comfort him.

Seongmin thinks Hwi likes him less. Unbeknownst to him, Hwi’s heart flutters and is very kilig just chatting with him over the phone. Seongmin asks what Hwi wants to do tomorrow and Hwi answers that he would like to go on a date with the guy he likes.

Hanmin is up next. Youngjoon comes in as do Seungjin, Minseon and Myeongkyun. Minseon, however, only came into the chat to check on something and he quickly leaves. He just wanted to make make sure “Why are you like this” was really Youngjoon and he confirms it.

Seungjin watches the chat as Youngjoon and Hanmin flirt. Myeongkyun asks about going shooting one day and Hanmin realizes he is “Adam” as he remembers they talked about that once.

Seungjin texts that he is interested in going on a date with Hanmin. Youngjoon is taken aback a bit.

As Minseon tries to process what’s going on with Youngjoon and Myeongkyon, his chat room opens. Myeongkyun comes in to the chat. They at first joke about mosquitos before Minseon decides to talk about what’s on his mind. He says he read it all earlier in Myeongkyun’s chat, but it didn’t change his interest in him
Minseon is more annoyed with Youngjoon for doing that knowing he was in there. Right now, Minseon is more concerned with how Myeongkyun is feeling

Minseon believes a relationship with Myeongkyun can develop anytime, but only if past baggage can be taken care of first. Myeongkyun, meanwhile, believes there’s something there with Minseon.

After the chat ends, Minseon beings the mosquito swatter to Myeongkyun in the entertainment room and takes the initiative to approach him first after the chat to help him be more comfortable.

It’s time for Seungjin’s chat. But just as he thought, no one ends up coming in.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

Seongmin’s chat time begins next. Hwi enters as “Red Panda,” knowing it is Seongmin’s favorite animal. “Sugar Butter” aka Jaeseung enters next.

Jaeseung says if Seongmin really knows him even a little, he’d know who he was. Hwi immediately knows it is Jaeseung considering the nickname obviously relates to baking. But Seongmin does not understand why Jaeseung would choose that name.

(HELLO! Hwi immediately knew, but Seongmin did not?! See! Lol)

Hwi texts that he would like to go on a date again. Seongmin says sure.

Jaeseung kind of admires Hwi being so brave with how he expresses his feelings. Meanwhile, he keeps writing and deleting what he wants to say. Jaeseung just wanted to comfort Seongmin today, but he can’t muster up the courage to send that message in the chat either. He decides to just leave the group early instead of watching Hwi be so upfront and brave.

Hwi takes this opportunity to be even more direct and say he misses Seongmin. Seongmin hesitates to text “I’m sorry” to Hwi.

And as Seongmin’s chat time ends, so does the Anonymous Chat Evening as a whole. But the night is still young in the Men’s House!

Hanmin visits Jaeseung, knowing that he might be worrying alone. Jaeseung says he doesn’t want to burden Seongmin by making it appear he is the only one for him. But he also worries about Seongmin even thinking that. Jaeseung appreciates Hanmin’s comfort and advice in this trying time.

Meanwhile, Youngjoon takes Myeongkyun outside and the fireworks commence!

I won’t detail their fascinating convo because it really has to be experienced in its entirety. It was AMAZING!

The way Youngjoon was so indignant and Myeongkyun just nibbling on his Samanco fish ice cream sandwich; how can you not just sit there with your jaw dropped or your hand covering your mouth the entire time!

Then the moment when the other guys hear the commotion and want to be Marites and listen in. I literally screamed, “Don’t you guys interrupt them!” lol

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

Before we go deep with talking about, I have to say I laughed so much during the convo/argument. Mostly because of Myeongkyun’s nonchalant attitude during the entire thing. The “hehe” and the ice cream and yawning. This guy was a menace while Youngjoon was literally pounding the table and cussing him out. It was insane! But fun to watch of course! Lolol

Now, as for the substance to their convo, it really is so interesting. I believe they were both pretty honest with each other. It seems to just boil down to them each seeing their relationship differently. I think the two of them also acknowledge their faults in it too.

Myeongkyun even said from the beginning that he can’ just come out and say what happened because it would also make him look bad, i.e., hanging on to unrequited feelings.

So the only thing we can be sure of is Youngjoon ghosted Myeongkyun. That’s definitely douchey behavior, no matter the reason Youngjoon decided to do that. He ended things messy. And that’s probably his biggest fault here.

I can understand Myeongkyun seeing how Youngjoon acts in the house and be upset at not only how this guys he was interested in is so different. But also the way their relationship, whatever it was, seems like nothing to him. When obviously Myeongkyun’s feelings were apparently that strong and perhaps even lingering.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

I can also understand Youngjoon’s frustration with Myeongkyun. Especially with the way Myeongkyun seemed so unbothered by the situation. A complete contrast with Youngjoon reaching a boiling point.

But what ultimately makes me more of a Team Myeongkyun guy is that Youngjoon was been making this a big deal from the very beginning. Aside from the ghosting of course, Youngjoon was the one that’s been making their pre-show relationship a much bigger deal than it needed to be. He’s the one who wanted to coordinate with Myeongkyun about how to tell the others and Myeongkyun himself said he didn’t care either way. That answer is what seems to have set Youngjoon off at the start, thus his cold shoulder and sometimes pretty cruel way of pushing Myeongkyun all the way away.

I mentioned in one of the previous weeks, maybe even last week, how it seems like Youngjoon wanted that “look at what you missed out on” kind of deal. Like, he intentionally wanted to make Myeongkyun jealous, even if in a passive way. He did mention in an earlier confessional how he broke it off with Myeongkyun because he didn’t think Myeongkyun wanted to be in a relationship.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

At the same time, he doesn’t seem to understand what was wrong with what he might have done to Myeongkyun. And that obviously has affected Myeongkyun.

As funny as Myeongkyun was during the convo, it does seem like it was basically his coping mechanism. It was sad to see him break down in the room later with Minseon. He probably kept those tears in the entire time he was with Youngjoon outside. Honestly, Seongmin and Hwi’s tears didn’t affect me. But seeing Myeongkyun’s face start quivering before he finally let the tears fall while sitting on the bed with Minseon was really heavy.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

Even Hanmin understands Myeongkyun’s side, but of course you can’t blame him for standing by his man too. Lol

Anyway, it seems to a huge misunderstanding that still can get worked out. And who knows? What if they end up together at the end of the show? It’s another K-drama-ready plot twist! hehe

It’s funny that for the first time, I wanted to stick with everyone else in the house rather than go back to Hwi/Seongmin/Jaeseung! Lol

But they closed the episode on them. And honestly, the most interesting part of that final sequence was Seongmin pointing out that he sees Jaeseung and Hwi have feelings for each other. All Hwi replied with was a “hmm” with the official subtitle saying “Yeah”.

I think it’s very telling that the show keeps kind of including all these little Jaeseung-Hwi moments and tidbits. It’s more than just crumbs for us delulus (as Dabit sings in the theme song hehe). It really feels like they’re setting up a Jaeseung-Hwi endgame. And I would love that! If not, then that’s fine.

His Man Season 3 Episode 7 and 8 Recap Review

But I think it’s all part of how much better the show is edited this year. They are really unfolding all these stories in a great pace. But the guys are providing lots of great content. So there’s plenty of material to work with. Hehe.

I hope we get a couple more episodes. There’s still so much story to tell. And a few days left in the house! Last season, they spent I think three episodes on the final day. Lol So we’ll see!
