Voltes V Legacy Episode 18 Recap

Back at CBF, Steve looks at the bracelet he bought for Mama Armstrong, but didn’t give on her birthday. Eva arrives in the locker room. She offers him her condolences. Steve asks her if he made the right decision in not returning to camp to save their mama. But she doesn’t say anything and he asks why.

Eva says she is leaving camp for the day and tells him he should ask Jamie for comfort since he has feelings for her. She’s confirmed it because she messed with his phone and saw all the stalker photos he took of Jamie. She asks him to be happy now because she is letting him go.

Steve admits that he does like Jamie, but only just. He wouldn’t pursue Jamie, especially after his mother’s death and how his brothers hate him right now. He says he will allow Eva to leave, but just not right now. He needs her and can’t handle being without her.

Steve takes Eva’s hand, but she pulls away and leaves.

They begin to fight and are evenly matched, but Jamie arrives to stop them. She scolds the other two for not stopping them. Big Bert tells Mark to apologize for what he said, but Mark refuses.

Jamie asks Mark to stop, saying she knows everything. She recalls her Marites session with Dr. Smith and says she knows Mark is angry with his own mother for abandoning him. He denies that and tells Jamie to stop making things up. But she says he doesn’t have to pretend.

Voltes V Legacy Episode 18 Recap

Jamie tells Mark that the anger he feels toward his mom is because he actually loves her. She explains to the Armstrong Bros that Mark has been lonely ever since he was little and has never felt the love of a mother. Even when Papa Gordon died, Mama Gordon was nowhere to be seen. Mark did what he could to grow up on his own.

Mark tells Jamie to stop, but she apologizes and says she has to tell them the truth. Steve says whatever, but Mark shouldn’t take his anger out on Mama Armstrong. Jamie agrees, but what they should be doing is understanding against any enemy. Otherwise, they’ll just lose.

The Armstrong Bros walk away.

Later back at their quarters, Jamie goes to Mark to talk about his attitude. Mark says he’s tired and wants to take a shower. But Jamie walks in and says he is being insensitive. It wasn’t a dog that died, after all.

Episode Thoughts

Okay, I’ll get the nitpick out of the way first. I would’ve liked them to reveal Mark’s past in a different way. It was just too expository and convenient for Jamie to blurt it all out in full Marites mode. It kind of lessened the emotional impact.

That said, it did lead up to probably one of my favorite non-action moments so far of the show. And that is Jamie and Mark’s scene in his room! Loved that! lolol Especially that unexpected romcom moment at the end. Well placed bit of levity after a tense episode.

I get Mark and of course I can understand grieving children. So Jamie is right that they have to understand each other. This is all typical Toei teamwork storyline though. The conflicts being resolved when they finally work together. And with 80 episodes, that will definitely take time.

Now with Steve and Eva, Eva did the right thing. Finally break free of the toxic boyfriend! Woohoo! Her basically saying she saw his stalker photos of Jamie was funny. Stolen shots? Creepy! It’s a good thing Eva broke up with him. Yes, he lost his mother. But eek, it’s only right for her to leave that relationship. Sorry!

This was overall a good breather episode after the emotional Episode 17. Good to focus on the Voltes team too. But of course, I think they could’ve approached all the stories in the episode in a better way. Nonetheless, actually one of the better character-focused episodes!

Voltes V: Legacy Episode 18 is available on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel:
However, it is restricted to the Philippines only. Hopefully it will be made available worldwide soon!

I’ve seen people talk about how people worldwide should subscribe to GMA Pinoy TV in order to watch the series. I’d recommend that if you are interested in watching lots of Filipino programming. But if you only want to watch Voltes V: Legacy, I don’t think it’d be a good investment. Especially since you can’t watch the series on demand anyway. GMA Pinoy TV is a linear, premium TV channel on most cable and satellite systems.
