Power Rangers Dino Fury Episode 26 Recap

While Occulo searches the forest for Sporix, he stumbles upon the Rangers training with balloons (while Aiyon enjoys Earth snacks he bought using money be borrowed from Ollie).

It comes down to Ollie and Amelia as the last ones standing and it is Ollie who pops Amelia’s balloon first. Ollie pops his own balloon with a kiss.

While Aiyon continues raving about Earth food, a strangely shrunk Pacha Smash Zord comes waddling over to them. Zayto and Aiyon say it wasn’t this small millions of years ago. Aiyon tries to use the Grow Dino Key on Pacha, but she hops out of the way and he instead embiggens a can of whipped cream. Pacha eludes the Rangers until Ollie manages to catch her. After Ollie and Pacha get caught in an embiggened donut, they hurry into the command chamber to show Solon.

Occulo has been watching the whole thing.

Solon does a scan of Pacha in order to find the Smash Dino Key which can activate her armor form. Pacha continues to be antsy in her new surroundings. Aiyon suggests he take her out for a walk and Ollie ties a rope around her for a leash.

Occulo delivers the Sporix blobs he’s collected so far to Void Knight, but his contraption needs more. Occulo tells them about the mini zord and Void Knight orders him and Wreckmate to capture it and hold it hostage in exchange for the Sporix blobs in the Rangers’ possession.

Aiyon reminisces about the past with Pacha and the fun times they had battling Sporixes. Aiyon suggests they play some fetch, so he unties Pacha’s leash. He tosses the stick and Pacha goes to fetch it while the others call to say the Smash Dino Key is inside her.

Solon calls Aiyon and Ollie to say this isn’t the original Pacha, but a baby one. Solon says they will need to find Baby Pacha so they can find Mama Pacha. Aiyon feels like a fool for letting her off the leash and thinking it was his old friend. Ollie tells him to focus on the job at hand.

Ollie uses the Sonic Dino Key so they can listen for Baby Pacha. Once they hear her, they hurry over and find her jumping up a cliff. Ollie uses another Dino Key to see through the rockface and sees Pacha Smash stuck inside.

Ollie suggests he throws a large boulder at the cliff. Aiyon suggests he pick up and toss a small pebble which they can then embiggen using the Grow Key. It works and Mama Pacha is free. Baby Pacha hops into his mother and they toss down the Smash Key. Ollie gives it to Aiyon, but Aiyon says Ollie should keep it.

Episode Thoughts

No question, this was the best episode so far of this second half of Dino Fury. Maybe because it was a half-Ollie focus. I usually enjoyed the Ollie focus episodes last year.

But I think this was the strongest of the four so far. Obviously not perfect in any way. The Pachas popping up out of nowhere is certainly some Nexus Prism-level deus ex machina. And Aiyon telling us they were good friends, but not seeing it or even setting up the idea that such relationships were possible also dilutes the story too.

Of course, the Rangers’ connection to their zords was a part of the Ryusoulger story. But not so much here on Dino Fury. It harkens back to the Saban Brands days when they’d carry over random Sentai character traits to the Power Rangers adaptation without actually adapting such details for the very different American characters.

Anyway, it was another episode of Aiyon feeling overly confident in himself. But at least he finally recognizes that. Character development! Yay!

The other main part of the episode is Void Knight’s lady friend waking up. So it will be nice to hopefully see a villainous power couple dynamic from them. Even better if it’s a sort of unwilling queen kind of story too. But I won’t hold my breath with that. As long as they don’t try to mirror a Rita/Zedd type of thing, then we’re good.

Overall, a reasonably enjoyable episode. Especially compared to the first three of this year.
