Music Monday, October 4, 2021 (Part 1) – E’LAST, ATEEZ, AB6IX, Ciipher

Dramatic, bright, energetic tracks. A diverse mix of music from E’LAST, ATEEZ, AB6IX and Ciipher.

“Dark Dream” by E’LAST

It’s been ten months since E’LAST’s last comeback as a full group (they released a unit track earlier this year). And “Dark Dream” is exactly the kind of track that loudly and confidently announces their return. One word to describe my reaction after my first watch/listen of the song/MV: WOW. “Dark Dream” is a soaring epic of a track. It’s one of those songs that you just have to experience. Whether it’s sitting and absorbing the dramatic melody and effortless vocals. Or it’s being enthralled by a live performance or the stunning music video. No question, this is E’LAST’s strongest title track yet. And a real attention-grabber.

“Eternal Sunshine” by ATEEZ

So the last time ATEEZ put their title track to a vote, my choice (“Inception”) won. This time, however, I was on the losing team as “Déjà Vu” won the vote and “Eternal Sunshine” was relegated to being the follow-up track instead. So I’ve anxiously awaiting the MV for my pick to finally get released. And it certainly did not disappoint. “Déjà Vu” is a fine song. But after a series of darker concepts, I was excited to see ATEEZ in a brighter concept for a change. It’s nice to mix things up of course. And maybe if this album had been released earlier in the summer, “Eternal Sunshine” would’ve gotten the nod from the fans. Anyway, the song fits that summer vibe (don’t we all want to hold on to those final fleeting moments?) and you can’t help but smile while enjoying both the song itself and this more than appropriate music video.

(Question, are these couplings canon in the ATEEZ universe? It’s so interesting to me, but I just take it as more of them having fun. Lol)

“Cherry” by AB6IX

“Cherry” leads AB6IX’s repackaged album. The playfully flirty song is a funky pop track and it’s definitely a song that represents AB6IX’s style and sound very well. It is a great introduction to their 2nd full length album MO’COMPLETE. Looking forward to listening to the rest of the album.

“Blind” by Ciipher

After their solid debut, Ciipher makes their first comeback with the title track “Blind.” Compared to their mellow vibe of a debut, the rock-infused “Blind” is a much more energetic song. And I think it actually highlights the group’s youthful image and personality a bit better. The group gets to show off their performance skills and also gets a chance to showcase their vocals more than with “I Like You.” A great track from the rookie group.
