Music Monday, August 30, 2021 (Part 2) – Woo Tae Woon, IONE feat. Yoon Bomi, Lyson, Jenyer feat. Heo Gayoon, Jay B

A pair of reunions and a pair of solo releases from Woo Tae Woon, IONE feat. Yoon Bomi, Lyson, Jenyer feat. Heo Gayoon and Jay B.

“Vaccine” by Woo Tae Woon, IONE feat. Yoon Bomi

Former SPEED bandmates Woo Tae Woon and IONE reunite on the same label and mark the occasion with this vibe of a track “Vaccine” featuring A-pink’s Yoon Bomi. Singing about the regret of a previous relationship, the three smooth vocals come together for an excellent song.

Also, IONE released Idea, one of my favorite albums of 2019 which I highly recommend.

“Marigold” by LYSON

Former SIGNAL member Kyuhwan makes his solo debut as Lyson with this amazing track “Marigold.” The emotional R&B track has Lyson singing of the bittersweet moments after a separation and the longing to go back those times or moving on. His soft, smooth vocals accompanying the dreamlike melody perfectly capture the emotions and vibe of the song.

“Soop” by Jenyer feat. Heo Gayoon

Jeon Ji Yoon aka Jenyer, is finally back after exactly a year in which she released the awesome and funky “Bad” featuring KIMMUSEUM. This time, Jenyer releases an emotional ballad “Soop” featuring fellow 4minute and 2YOON bandmate Gayoon. Their powerful vocals and passionate performance bring to life this track about missing someone who is no longer in your life.

“B.T.W” Jay B feat. Jay Park

I’ve definitely waited for a solo album from Im Jae Bum for years. First meeting him on Dream High 2. And then becoming a big fan when he debuted in JJ Project with Park Jinyoung. Now taking the next step in his career as Jay B after leaving JYP Entertainment, he finally releases SOMO:Fume.

Now, let me be totally transparent and say I’m not a fan of Jay Park at all. And we all have our reasons whether or not we like certain artists. I’ll leave it at that. So with that, that’s already a few points off for me with the title track “B.T.W.” I definitely get the vibe Jay B was going for with it. But the total package of the song is just not my cup of tea. Sadly.

My favorite tracks from the album, however, include the ethereal “In To You” featuring g1nger and “Count on Me.” The great “Switch It Up” featuring sokodomo which Jay B released a few months ago is also on the album.
