Though teams scrambled for flights in Rome, all teams were equalized at the Kigali Genocide Memorial. After paying their respects, teams began Racing by heading to Kimironko Market.
Teams had trouble finding the Yield board and the tailor shop in the market. That allowed Janice & Inah to arrive at the Yield first and they decided to Yield Troy & KC for being part of the alliance who U-Turned them last Leg and eliminated their friends Carmina & Cassy. Troy & KC in turn Yielded Benjie & Kobe who they were sure were behind them.
Thought Janice & Inah depart for Volcanoes National Park first, they are 5th to arrive when they direct their driver to the wrong location. Other teams are able to move up upon arrival. But searching for the mountain gorilla families again shuffled the teams.
Troy & KC and Janice & Inah are first to arrive at the Detour and choose the banana beer while 3rd place Marco & Michele choose the drums. Benjie & Kobe arrive next and choose the bananas, forcing Jervi & Luke and Gee & Archie to choose the drums instead. All teams arrived at the Detour within 10 minutes of each other.
Teams maintained their placements moving on to the Intersection. Marco & Michele and Troy & KC, arriving 1st and 2nd, easily decide to team up for the Intersection. Upon retrieving the next clue in the lake, Troy & KC decide they want to use their Super Yield and tell Marco & Michele to “pass” them in order to be safe from it.
Despite allowing the siblings to momentarily go ahead of them Troy & KC are able to paddle to the Pit Stop faster to claim the Leg.
Meanwhile, Janice & Inah and Benjie & Kobe are the second pair to arrive and team-up at the Intersection. But they struggle with paddling in sync. That allows last place teams Gee & Archie and Jervi & Luke to pass them.
Once Janice & Inah and Benjie & Kobe arrive on the island, it’s a foot race to the Pit Stop. With the father and son taking a wrong turn, it is the mother and daughter who step on the Mat in 5th place.
Benjie & Kobe end up choosing the Self Yield penalty.
