Episode Thoughts

Why are these episodes so long?! Penthouse, you’re not a tvN drama, you know? You can’t have 90 minute episodes! lol

Anyway, this episode was a little underwhelming. Especially the cliffhanger, if you can call it that. It wasn’t all that surprising or exciting. And we didn’t learn many new things in this episode.

This episode was more about little moments which can be fun. But no big developments or shockers. This is the second half of the final season now, but it was a bit of a dud of an episode.

Some great moments. I loved seeing the scene of Ma Ri and Dong Pil on the rooftop. I was fearing Ma Ri wasn’t 100% sincere in helping Su Ryeon. But thankfully, that scene confirmed she was and I love it. Character growth!

Rona crashing Eun Byeol’s big moment and the later confrontation with Seo Jin was also amazing. It’s fun to see Rona embracing being mini Yoon Hee. And it’s about time too. That scene between Rona and Seo Jin was very good.

The best parts of the episode were really the confrontations. As Ms. Jin and Dan Tae’s encounter in the garage was lots of fun. It was a funny, yet exciting scene. There’s definitely lots of people who can bring about Dan Tae’s downfall.

Eun Byeol being a drug addict is definitely not what I saw coming. And again, Seok Kyug deserves what’s coming to her.

But now to the not so good things.

Su Ryeon guilting Seok Hoon into breaking it off with Rona is such nonsense. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do another Gotcha! with this story. But just taking it by what we saw in the episode, it was horrible.

This is one of the soapiest things Penthouse has done. Basically, separating a main couple just to drag the story out longer. It’s typical in the Philippines. And here, it feels so forced and contrived. The sentiment came out of nowhere. What the hell was she talking about?

And then Seok Hoon actually agreeing. It was funny at the end how he was trying to act like an asshole to Rona, but she still empathized with him. I don’t know if this is the typical “infiltrate the enemy” type of story because Su Ryeon was making faces whenever Seok Hoon popped up. But now it feels so forced.

Meanwhile, this is exactly what I was afraid of. Dan Tae having a tragic childhood as his mother and sister were murdered by the demolishing crew. I assume that it was Su Ryeon’s father that ordered that clearing operation.

But still, this doesn’t justify all the things Dan Tae has done in his life. Your redemption story is not going to work on me!

Overall, a predictable and flat episode.
