The teams are back on The Ghan as they make their way to Adelaide. Upon arrival, teams will make their way to Adelaide Oval.

At the venue, teams will need to find their team photo hidden in one of the 50,000 seats. One team member will climb up and direct their teammate below using a map and a megaphone. But teams will only have 10-minute sessions, four at a time.

MJ & Chelsea, in their hometown, reach the stadium first and get started before any other team arrives. Stan & Wayne are next to arrive followed by Jaskirat & Anurag and Amanda & Ashleigh. But all fail to find their photos on their first attempts.

First place Chris & Aleisha, meanwhile, fall to last place on their way to the Oval.

Amanda is first to find her and Ashleigh’s photo. They can now choose their Detour: Slap or Snag. Both Detours will take place in the town of Hahndorf. In Slap, teams will wear lederhosen and learn and perform the slap dance. In Snag, teams must eat a complete wurst platter.

Stan decides to help MJ and tell her where to find her photo. He feels good being able to help someone else. MJ decides to tell Stan the location of his and Wayne’s photo as well on her way out.

Ashleigh & Amanda choose the slap dance while MJ & Chelsea, Skye-Blue & Jake, Stan & Wayne, Brendon & Jackson, Jaskirat & Anurag choose the wurst. Dancers Jordan & Violeta excitedly choose the dance and easily pass. MJ & Chelsea are close behind.

Holly & Dolor arrive and choose the dance. Dance machine Dolor passes on their first attempt. The Cowboys decide to switch to the dancing when they struggle to finish the sausages while everyone else finishes and leaves.

Back at the Oval, Chris & Aleisha have to leave now that the stadium is closed. They will have to serve a time penalty at the Mat for not completing the task.

After the Detour, teams will have to face the Road Block: Who is the most graceful? For this Road Block, teams will perform a song in Swahili with the Amazing Grace Joyful Church Choir.

Violeta and MJ decide to do the Road Block.

MJ gets the thumbs up on her 2nd attempt. She and Chelsea can now make their way to The Trinity Church, the Pit Stop. Ashleigh also passes on her 2nd attempt.

But it is MJ & Chelsea who step on the Mat in first. As this is a Non-Elimination Leg, they win another First Class Pass. Jordan & Violeta have to settle for 2nd followed by Amanda & Ashleigh in 3rd.

Jaskirat and Holly finish the Road Block next. Holly & Dolor check in as Team #4 while Jaskirat & Anurag take 5th.

Meanwhile, Stan & Wayne have fallen to last place as they get lost on the way to the church.

Jake gets the thumbs up on his 5th attempt and he and Skye-Blue check in as Team #6. Chris passes on his 3rd attempt and he and Aleisha step on the Mat in 7th. But they must serve their 20 minute penalty first.

Last place Stan & Wayne are able to leave the Road Block before Brendon & Jackson when Stan passes on his first attempt.

Stan & Wayne arrive at the Mat to check in as Team #7. Chris & Aleisha still have more than three minutes left on their time.

After the penalty, Chris & Aleisha are able to check in as Team #8. Brendon & Jackson are now last and it’s time for MJ & Chelsea to choose who to Salvage and Sabotage.

MJ & Chelsea decide to Sabotage Chris & Aleisha because they are one of “best’ and most “consistent” teams. That means the Cowboys get the Salvage.

Episode Thoughts

Okay. First of all, the biggest thing out of this episode was MJ & Chelsea judging Chris & Aleisha’s Race based on a pretty small sample size. If anything I’d say the Cowboys have been more consistent, even though they have been struggling lately. Chris & Aleisha have struggled much more despite winning the last Leg.

Again, I can’t agree with penalizing the 2nd to last team while the Non-Eliminated team gets an ADVANTAGE in the next Leg. That is complete nonsense.

Anyway… The needle in a haystack task at the Oval was okay to start the Leg off with. If it was at any other point in a Leg, it would be horrible. But as a way to stagger the teams at the start of the Leg, it’s alright.

The Detour is a good cultural task to make up for the lack of international travel. It’s a balanced Detour. You can eat as fast as you are able. And if you’re good at memorization and have rhythm, then the dance is for you. There’s an option for everyone.

The Road Block was fine. It’s a typical TAR task as well.

It was pretty obvious this would be a Non-Elimination Leg. We were due for one now. So it wasn’t much of a surprise.

Overall, a simple, straightforward Leg. Not much excitement or drama. It was actually pretty bland despite the solid tasks. And the Sabotage/Salvage decision just ended the episode on a negative note.

My Subjective Team Rankings

A tough Leg for Chris & Aleisha, especially after such a great performance last Leg. But they powered through and actually did very well at the tasks to help make up for them getting lost initially.

Holly & Dolor had a solid Leg. It’s fun to finally see Dolor excel at a challenge lol He did pretty great with the dance. Meanwhile, this might have been the quietest Leg from Jaskirat & Anurag all Race. They were definitely in the background and under the radar this episode.

Our Stowaways helping each other at the stadium may have been a little triggering. But it’s certainly far from the TAR32 monstrosity. Stan & Wayne and MJ & Chelsea aren’t in an alliance. And they haven’t been coddling each other the entire Race. They merely pointed each other in the right direction on one task. Perfectly fine. And not the same as the TRuE aLLiaNcE. Again, both teams are fine for now. But I struggle to find myself rooting for them to make the Final Leg.

Ashleigh & Amanda remain consistent. No doubt also a strong team in their own right. The once strong Brendon & Jackson continue to hang on. Skye-Blue & Jake and Jordan & Violeta are also doing better, but still just not as interesting as the other teams to make an impact right now.

Kudos to MJ & Chelsea though for their 2nd First Class Pass win. They really are a strong team. But for a Stowaway team to skip even more Legs, it’s just feels weird. And their Sabotage decisions just go completely against what the Race is about.
