Kamen Rider Saber Episode 8 Recap

Touma breaks the bad news that Ogami-san was stoned while shielding him from the attack. Touma hands Sora his father’s sword and Book and hurriedly walks out, blaming himself for everything. Mei follows, as does Sora.

Tetsuo points out Touma has been troubled about not being able to draw out King Arthur’s full power. He must be feeling the pressure. But Sophia says he has to overcome this on his own. They all believe in Touma’s ability to do so.

Sora tells Touma not to worry, saying his father will be fine. Mei’s antics make Touma smile for the first time and Sora is happy to see he is back to normal. He asks Touma to promise him that he will win. Touma says he already promised Ogami-san the same thing.

Just then, after remembering all his friends, Touma has an idea. He is a writer, after all. He will write a story that revolves around him and his friends.

Touma returns to the North Pole with his story and says they should stick together while they battle the two Medusas.

They head out and are met by Legeiel and one of the Medusas. They all henshin and the battle begins.

Touma’s story has the four of them driven to a corner in order to draw both Medusas to one location. That gives them the opportunity to take down both Medusas at the same time.

Kento and Ren will team-up to keep Calibur busy. Rintaro’s newfound power will be enough to keep Legeiel at bay. And that will allow Touma to deal with the two Medusas.

Touma realized that his friendships with Rintaro, Kento and Ren are exactly what they need. And actually fits very well with the legend of King Arthur who also depended on his Knights of the Round Table.

Episode Thoughts

Like last week, I’m just mildly interested in what’s happening. Touma has an internal crisis and realizes that as long as he’s got his bros with him, he’s fine. Okay sure.

Last week, I was most interested in the headcanon Rintaro-Mei love story. This week I was more interested in the Oren and Jonouchi cameos and the tease about Calibur-Sophia-Mystery Guy.

First about this emerging love triangle. I definitely would never expect Calibur turning his back on the SoL would relate to possibly being jealous of Sophia’s man. Um.. okay! If that’s really where they’re going with it, then they’ve got a lot of potential to work with. How would Kento play in such a story?

But I could be completely off and my K-drama romantic-self is working overdrive here. lol But it’s an interesting possibility. Is there a fairy tale that would relate to such a story?

I totally forgot Calibur is Kento’s father. So that big face off was lost on me last week. But I remembered this week when Kento literally ate sand. That’s some dedication on Ryo Aoki’s part! Lol So I’m cautiously intrigued by this family drama.

The Oren and Jonouchi cameo to promote the upcoming Gaim Gaiden was fun. (Which reminds me, I have a lot of Rider movies and extra content to catch up on!)

Also fun was Mei sneaking into the North Pole. It’s nice to have her fully welcomed to the group like that.

At the beginning of the episode, I wondered why Sora would pop up all of a sudden. But of course it ended up that Ogami-san gets stoned. (Though, we really should be seeing Sora a lot as long as Ogami-san continues to be a major character. Like, where does he leave him when he’s not on the show? Lol)

I’m looking forward to what may be a Tetsuo focus next (next) week.

Overall, an okay episode.

Also, I usually skip the end credits, but I see Rintaro has been added:

  1. I was not expecting the Oren and Jonouchi cameo so that was a nice surprise.

And seeing Touma get turned into a sword was hilarious and reminded me of the Riders transforming into weapons on KR Decade.
