The Gang is at the coconut tree enjoying the latest episode of Shiguru’s new drama I’m Love with a Shinigami. They point out it’s a change of pace for him to be doing a romantic drama instead of action. Dr. Sayo says it actually suits him considering the new character is insensitive towards women.
Shiguru says that is very harsh and quite the contrary as he is very considerate towards women.
Anyway, he is caking lip balm on his lips in preparation for an upcoming scene. Muryou tells Shiguru to focus on his acting today and leave any Yodon attacks to the others.
Takamichi approaches Mabushina and asks about now joining them in watching Shiguru’s drama. Mabushina ignores him. Shiguru observes that she must still be upset with Takamichi.
Takamichi hasn’t been able to talk to her out loud, so he decides to use telepathy instead. They used to be able to communicate in that way, especially with the Kiramai Stone inside his body.
Takamichi says there are things that are easier to say when not said aloud.
He tries communicating with her, but Mabushina announces she has places to be and leaves after wishing them well.
Mabushina gleefully skips through the park when she finds people frozen in the plaza. Turns out Carantula is engaging the locals in a game of Red Light/Green Light (達磨さんが転んだ) and turning losers into Darumas. Because Mabushina has crossed into the playing field, she is now also a player and cannot leave.
Meanwhile, Takamichi interrupts production on Shiguru’s drama when he finds a possible Kiramai Stone location on set. Shiguru apologizes to the director and they move production to a different area.
On the other side of town, Juuru, Tametomo, Sena and Dr. Sayo arrive at the plaza where the alarms sounded from and they unknowingly also enter the playing field when they see Mabushina.
The Kiramagers think Carantula is a regular ol’ Jamenshi. But Carantula introduces himself as one of Yodonheim’s top generals. He says one of his mottos is to defeat Earth with its own customs.
Thus, Carantula proposes they play a round of 達磨さんが転んだ.
Shiguru checks on Takamichi who is still digging. He offers his leading lady a bottle lip balm before she goes home for the day.
Takamichi says that’s pretty creepy of Shiguru to care about a woman’s lips. But Shiguru says he’s being considerate.
Anyway, Takamichi has found zero treasure in the hole even though his Changer detects one here. Shiguru thinks it might be in the base of the statue. Indeed, Takamichi drills at it and out pops a Monstone.
Shiguru and Takamichi henshin to take on the Monstone.
Takamichi has a secret plan in which he attacks from below using the drill. It takes the Monstone by surprise, but also catches a little bit of Shiguru as well.
Back at the game, the plan is for Sena to use her super speed to tag Carantula out. But Carantula tricks her and is able to call her out. Sena is turned into a Daruma.
The others henshin and try to shoot at Carantula. But Carantula deflects the shots and sends them right back at Juuru, Tametomo and Dr. Sayo. Sayo is not able to freeze in time and later, a Bechat tickles Juuru causing him to fall on Tametomo. They’re all out.
Takamichi and Shiguru finish off the Monstone. Shiguru asks Takamichi if he can hear more about his relationship with Mabushina as it’s interesting how the bond between siblings of different worlds can be so strong.
Takamichi says their differences never mattered and they always just got along. Mabushina would always run to him whenever she saw him and ask for him to braid her hair.
Shiguru suggests Takamichi consider her feelings more if he wants to break through to her. Takamichi stops him though and says he doesn’t want to be a simp.
Muryou calls Shiguru and Takamichi to tell them what’s happening. They hurry over. But Mabushina tells them to stay away. Carantula seals off the playing area.
Takamichi tries drilling through, but it doesn’t work. Jetter reports that it is sealed from above as well. Shiguru wonders if they can go underground. Takamichi does a scan and sees the barrier stops 20 meters below.
To reach that far in time, they would have to use Drijan. But Shiguru remembers that like earlier, Mabushina might get hurt if she’s too close.
It would be alright if they could let Mabushina know about the plan. And Takamichi’s telepathy with her doesn’t seem to be working. But Shiguru asks what Takamichi tried telling her earlier using telepathy.
Takamichi says he just tried to remind Mabushina of all the happy times they had together, like him calling her a wonder cutie when she asked for braids. Shiguru believes the telepathy actually did work.
Shiguru tells Takamichi to go on ahead in Drijan and to try speaking with her as he drills through. Takamichi tries reaching her and tells her to get safely out of range as he reaches the surface.
But he doesn’t think he’s gotten through as Mabushina continues forward toward Carantula. Shiguru says to trust him and keep going.
Takamichi is almost at the surface, but Mabushina isn’t budging. Takamichi wants to pull back, Shiguru says to trust her too.
Mabushina is close enough to be able to tag Carantula out. But at the very last second, Mabushina instead grabs the bucket full of Darumas and runs a safe distance away.
Carantula is about to officially call her out. But just then, Takamichi reaches the surface, drilling Carantula from below and up into the barrier, breaking it up.
As Carantula slams back down to the ground, Mabushina is there to tag him out.
The Darumas return to their human forms and the Kiramagers reunite.
Takamichi runs to his sister and she says his telepathy did indeed reach her. Shiguru knew it and explains that he noticed Mabushina had her hair in braids today instead of the usual.
Shiguru asks Mabushina if she was indeed nostalgic for the good ol’ days. Mabushina reluctantly admits it and the siblings turn to each other.
Before they can continue their heartfelt reunion, Carantula summons the ring toss Wanage Hildon Jamenju.
The Kiramagers hop into Kiramaizin and Takamichi hops into Drijan to help them out. After going Kiramaizin Duston, the Kiramagers are able to finish off the Jamenju with a Kiramai Dynamic.
Back in the darkness, Garuza asks how Carantula’s little Earth trip went. Carantula enjoys a bag of marshmallows and says he has a lot of new ideas.
Over in the coconut tree, Sena and Sayo notice Mabushina undid her cute braids. Mabushina heads straight for her brother and says him telling she “looked cute back then” is pretty mean.
Takamichi says she’s still a wonder cutie now, but Mabushina says she doesn’t care what he thinks anymore.
Mabushina stomps away. But Juuru hears the familiar Crystalia chimes and believes Mabushina is actually laughing. While they’re not sure the siblings have truly made up yet, Shiguru says what is sure is that they still share a tight bond.
Ooo! I think I really liked this episode very much. This was like a Shiguru, Takamichi and Mabushina focus episode all rolled into one. And it worked. A little bit of teamwork. A little bit of trust.
It showed them all as smart and clever people. Mabushina saving the Darumas was awesome. Shiguru’s considerate and observant nature was critical. And Takamichi’s genuine care for his sister shined through. It was a truly great character episode for all three.
Shiguru’s duality has been one of the most fun and amusing quirks of the season. Atom Mizuishi does such a great job with the over-the-top facial expressions, the charismatic actor moments and then the more “normal” scenes.
I was hoping for perhaps a bigger reunion for the siblings. But this episode was fine. And I appreciate that it took a few episodes to get here. Still, there may have been a great opportunity for something more. But at least it appears things aren’t completely 100% with them just yet.
We’ve seen him certainly trying to regain Mabushina’s trust. And Mabushina obviously has enough reason to still feel upset about what’s happened to them and their family. But they’ve taken very realistic steps forward and it’s played out very well.
We saw both Takamichi and especially Mabushina’s brave, kind hearts. And this was definitely a great episode to highlight that.
Carantula had a good episode as well. The games were fun, but even better seeing he’s actually doing some research for the future too.
Overall, a pretty great and strong episode!
