This recap will be a little different from the usual, obviously. I’ll just recap the chunks of deleted scenes:
As Yodonheim make their first assault on the city, the first four Kiramagers have to quickly excuse themselves from their daily lives in order to deploy.
Tametomo was in the middle of a tournament, Dr. Sayo was hours away from a major surgery, Shiguru was in the middle of filming his movie and Sena was the middle of training.
When Juuru first reveals his designs for the Mashins, Shiguru and Dr. Sayo comment how surprising it is to see Juuru be so energetic considering how timid he was when they first met.
Tametomo was a little annoyed that Juuru appears to have chosen a shovel car for the design of his Mashin just based on its yellow color instead of choosing something else.
Back at the coconut tree, Muryou points out the Mashin designs are just like King Oradin foresaw. The designs are actually engraved on the Kiramai Changers.
The Kiramagers and Mashins introduce themselves to each other before proceeding to fight off the Jaguchihirudon.
The Kiramagers hop out of their Mashins and dehenshin.
Princess Mabushina excitedly watches them as Juuru freaks out over and apologizes for accidentally dropping the honorifics with his teammates.
Later on after Juuru and Tametomo go to the track and unsuccessfully try to talk to Sena, Juuru gets a Hirameking that even Tametomo is amazed by.
They head back to the coconut tree where Juuru is able to bring about Daiya-kun. Shiguru is able to properly demonstrate that a person and its Daiya-kun clone can return to normal by bumping their butts together.
After a bonus look at Juuru, Tametomo and Sena calling their Mashin friends to form Land Mage for the first time, Sena acknowledges Juuru as a good leader.
Sena tells Juuru he can drop the honorifics with her.
Tametomo asks Juuru to imagine sushi for them to eat.
Back at the coconut tree, Princess Mabushina comments on Juuru’s unique power. Muryou says it’s all about Juuru’s feelings. Daiya-kun was created using Juuru’s imagination and his feelings for Sena.
Princess Mabushina believes Juuru is the right leader and the Kiramagers are going to be a great team.
Episode Thoughts
Essentially, this was a recap episode with some deleted scenes sprinkled in. Surprisingly though, the deleted scenes were pretty insightful both for the characters and the overall plot.
I loved that they tagged each deleted scene and just let the episode flow like a normal clip show. None of the “But what you didn’t see…” cues to the clips which would’ve been very awkward. The episode worked well with the Kiramagers’ narration.
The deleted scenes added some very nice character moments for everyone, especially Juuru. The mentions about him and honorifics says a lot about Juuru as a person. And the fact that he is able to rise up to be a true leader is really great.
Just some nice added color for everyone that helps get us to know them a little better.
But perhaps the biggest deleted scene was Muryou mentioning how the Mashins were on the Kiramai Changers the whole time. King Oradin imagined the Mashins already long before even any of the Kiramagers got their Changers, let alone Juuru.
That may have something to do with what Juuru’s connection to Crystalia might be. Surprising that the scene was deleted. Everything else like the little character moments are obviously going to take a backseat to an extra minute of toy footage. But I thought something like what Muryou said would be a pretty big deal.
