Recap: Kamen Rider Zero-One, Episode 30 – After All, I am the President and a Kamen Rider

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Gai makes a public announcement that all Humagears will be scrapped. And people who own them can exchange them for a free pair of ZAIASpecs. However, many have opted to illegally dump old, dead Humagears in the streets.

Aruto goes around picking up Humagear bodies. He takes one to Daybreak where Jin approaches him.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Jin says Aruto’s dream for Humagears has turned into a nightmare. He used to think that Humagears were all his friends that should connect to MetsubouJinrai.net. But when Aruto defeated him, Jin realized that if he controlled his friends, he would be no different from humans.

Jin wanted to liberate Humagears from human control. But instead, humans are now destroying Humagears like the tools they have always regarded them as.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Aruto says he never thought of Humagears as tools. He fights for both humans and Humagears. Jin tells him to stop lying, but Aruto insists he is not.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Aruto relates how he was raised by a Humagear father. And when his father was destroyed and his data lost with the Ark, he realized that a Humagear’s death is no different from a human’s.

Aruto believes both have hearts, that’s why he values both humans and Humagears.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Jin asks why Aruto abandoned everyone then. Aruto says he hasn’t, which is why he has come to see him.

In an interview, Gai announces all Humagear data will be deleted. And any remaining activated Humagears will be tracked down by A.I.M.S. using new Raidriser equipment.

Just then, Yua leads a pair of A.I.M.S. officers as they arrive to kill Jin.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Jin henshins and takes on the two A.I.M.S. officers.

Yua says Humagears were nothing but tools for humans. She prepares to henshin, but hesitates. Isamu arrives, having been tracking their movements. He says he is looking forward to the day Yua will be able to tell him her dreams.

Yua asks Isamu why he quit A.I.M.S. when his greatest wish was to destroy all Humagears. Isamu says that all changed when he learned ZAIA was behind everything. If ZAIA had not created the Ark, none of this would’ve happened. That is why he has instead decided to destroy ZAIA.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Isamu henshins, as does Yua.

Isamu slaps Yua and tells her to come to her senses. But Yua says she is acting of her own free will.

With a Rampage Element Blast, Isamu is able to force the A.I.M.S. officers out of their gear and allows for Jin to fly away.

Yua orders her men to follow Jin. Isamu starts to chase after her, but Aruto stops him. He asks what Isamu meant about ZAIA controlling everything.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Over at Hiden HQ, VP Jun and SVP Sanzo suck up to their new boss. But Gai gets a call from Yua and he finds that Izu’s body is now missing from the lab. Jin has been able to swoop in to retrieve it and the Zero-One Driver.

Gai orders Yua to proceed with deleting all the Humagear data from ZEA.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Isamu finishes explaining everything to Aruto and says he is sure about wanting to bring down ZAIA. Isamu asks Aruto what he will be doing now that he’s left his company. Aruto says he will also fight ZAIA and protect the Humagears.

Aruto brings the Humagear body to an abandoned and damaged warehouse. That’s where Jin brings Izu and the Driver to.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Jin says he did it not only because Aruto asked him to, but of his own volition.

Aruto is able to reactivate Izu and she wakes up.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Izu acknowledges “Aruto-sama.” She picks up the Driver briefcase and Jin asks her to come with. Aruto chases after them.

Jin tells Izu that his work here is done and he is doing this of his own free will. Not because of the Ark’s will or ZEA’s orders. Izu says that is not possible. But Jin says it is. He is not connected to either Ark or ZEA. He is an autonomous Humagear.

Jin explains that when they reach Singularity, they are free.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Aruto arrives and says Jin is right. Hiden is no place for Izu right now. Izu must decide on her own what to do next.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Izu says her responsibility is to serve the president. Jin says Izu will never be free if she only lets humans control her. Aruto says she will only be destroyed if she returns.

Just then, Gai arrives with an umbrella and a pair of A.I.M.S. officers. He says as president, it is under his discretion how Izu will ultimately be dealt with. He orders the A.I.M.S. men to destroy her.

Jin steps forward. But the A.I.M.S. officers aim and shoot at Izu. Aruto quickly steps in front to shield her and he gets shot in the chest.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Izu hurries over to him.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Gai calls Aruto a fool and he gleefully announces that all Humagear data is being deleted at this very moment.

But Yua calls and says there is absolutely zero data in ZEA.

Aruto says of course not because he has the data right here on his person.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Aruto checks and sees the Key that saved him from the bullet was the one holding Mamoru’s data.

Gai, as president, orders A.I.M.S. to destroy them. But Aruto says what good is being president when he merely manipulates people’s hearts to get what he wants. Those hearts, whether human or Humagear, belong to that person.

Gai says he is free to do as pleases with his own company. He and the A.I.M.S. guys henshin.

Jin takes on the A.I.M.S., as Aruto opens the briefcase to grab his Driver and Key. Gai says he has no right to use those things and when Aruto tries, it does not work. He is no longer president, after all.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Izu remembers the first time Aruto henshined.

Aruto continues defending Izu against Gai. But Gai prepares a Jacking Break and sends it toward them. Aruto shields Izu from the attack as he tries to henshin one more time.

Gai thinks he has won. But Aruto is able to henshin. He tells Izu to get to safety and he proceeds to take on Gai.

After battling for a little, Aruto goes Metal Cluster Hopper and absolutely owns Gai.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Gai is incensed and asks how in the world Aruto was able to henshin. Izu explains that ZEA accepted Aruto believing that he can pave a road to the future for artificial intelligence. Also, Izu was able to establish a new company for Aruto to be president of.

Gai says Aruto cannot use material owned by Hiden Intelligence. But Izu points out that patent rights to Humagears and Zero-One belong to Aruto based on the will of Grandpa Hiden.

Aruto says Izu is awesome. But Izu says she’s just his assistant, after all.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Gai cannot believe Izu has reached Singularity. He hobbles off with his men.

Jin watches from the sidelines and Horobi asks him if he predicted this outcome. Jin says he did not and believes Aruto is pretty impressive.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 30 Recap

Horobi is amused that Jin has befriended a human. But Jin says he has not. He plans to take the data from Aruto to liberate the Humagears.

Later, Aruto and Izu are setting up their new office for Hiden Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

Episode Thoughts

Oooo! Whenever a Sentai or Kamen Rider has an episode like last week, it’s always hard to follow it up with a good episode. Especially when it is a big, consequential episode, the next week’s more often than not feel underwhelming. But that wasn’t the case here! This episode felt very much like a continuation of last week. Maintaining the seriousness and importance of the proceedings instead of devolving back into a more comfortable pace or situation.

It was an excellent episode all around.

My favorite scene has to be the one with Aruto and Jin.

Aruto explaining being raised by a Humagear father and then realizing that losing a human and Humagear feels the same was great. It was a wonderful character moment and really shows where Aruto is coming from with his strong feelings about Humagears.

The one thing I was waiting for in that scene was for Aruto to blame MetsubouJinrai.net for the death of his father. I wondered how Jin would react to that. But at the same time, it wouldn’t have fit what Aruto was trying to do in that moment. He was reaching out to Jin and not necessarily trying to make him feel guilty. And it worked. Jin seemed to be very moved by Aruto’s words.

Jin’s character has really been very fascinating to watch. If he is indeed acting on his own free will now, it’s a natural progression from how he was when we first met him. Horobi was obviously calling all the shots. But Jin, based upon his learnings I assume, has become what he is now.

The last scene with Jin and Horobi was interesting because it almost looked like a regression of Jin’s character. Especially after all the great moments in this episode with him. But we’ll see!

With Izu, I think we’ve seen her path to Singularity for a while now. And even if Gai proclaimed so this episode, I think there’s still plenty to touch upon with Izu’s own personal story as well. She deserves such a great focus too.

It is very enjoyable getting to watch Gai’s ass being handed to him every week!

I just remembered after VP Jun mentioned Gai’s 24-year-old face. One satisfying comeuppance for him is if he rapidly ages in the end too. That would be the ultimate embarrassing moment for him it seems lol

We got a little bit of Isamu and Yua this episode. They’ve laid out where Yua’s character will be taken from here. And it should also be interesting to see what they do with her moving forward. There’s great potential for her there.

Overall, a really great episode. Which itself is a major accomplishment after last week’s! Hoping they can keep up the momentum!

  1. How many different people owned Gai this episode? Because it seems like most of his plans are now falling apart.

    1. It’s really wonderful to see! lol
I know most people hate Gai, like just flat out hate him. But he’s proving to be a great villain to root against I think.
