Melto wakes up from a nightmare of his younger self being chased by an unseen monster. He takes Papa Naohisa by surprise, causing him to drop his laptop and hoping he hasn’t lost his thesis data. Melto apologizes, but he wonders why he is suddenly having this nightmare again.
Mosa Rex tells Canalo that he senses a terrifying energy emerging from below. Canalo remembers Yuno’s warning about their ultimate trail approaching.
Over in the lair, Kureon prematurely celebrates becoming one of the final Druidon generals. Waizuru tells Pricious not to celebrate either when he was defeated by the Ryusoulgers as well. But Pricious says his plan worked out exactly as planned. He was able to force the Ryusoulgers to seek out a great power like the Ryusoul Calibur which they will be able to use to awaken Eras.
Kureon has no idea who that is. But he will show them that he is worthy of being in the inner circle. He searches a museum storage and finds a mirror that shows you your death. Kureon plans to birth a Minosaur from it.
A strange fog rolls through Tokyo as Koh and Asuna head home from grocery shopping. Papa Naohisa notices Asuna has bought a bag full of snacks she intends to eat by herself and points out that she’ll get fat that way. Asuna doesn’t think so.
None of them notice the fog has begun to roll through the house as well.
On the other side of town, Towa and Bamba are training. Bamba reminds Towa not to rely on his speed too much. Towa grabs his ankle, but says he’s alright.
Suddenly, the fog rolls through the factory where they are training as well. And out through the fog comes Drunns. Towa and Bamba quickly henshin to take them on.
But Towa’s legs suddenly stop moving and that leaves him wide open for the Drunns who force him to dehenshin.
Bamba uses TsuyoSoul to finish off the rest of the Drunns himself and carries his brother back to Chez Tatsui.
Meanwhile at home, Papa Naohisa finds the data on his laptop has disappeared. Asuna also begins to feel her clothes are too tight, hurting her stomach. Coupled with Towa not being able to move his legs, Melto believes this is all the work of a Minosaur.
On the other side of town, Canalo finds a Minosaur emerging through the fog and quickly calls the others. Bamba tells Towa he must stay here until his legs are back to normal.
The others arrive, but Canalo says none of his attacks have worked. Suddenly, a terrifying Minosaur materializes out of the fog. Melto cannot believe it.
The Minosaur attacks them and they begin battle. None of the attacks the Ryusoulgers have seem to work against it as it has a counter to every one of them.
Melto admits that he always had the same nightmare when he was younger of the greatest Minosaur appearing before him. He realizes the Minosaur’s power is to materialize one’s fear. That’s why his nightmare came to life, Papa Naohisa’s data was lost, Asuna got fat and Towa lost his speed.
Melto asks Koh if he can use Ryusoul Calibur. As the Minosaur is his fear, Melto feels he must overcome that fear and defeat it himself.
Melto uphenshins to Noblesse and takes on the Minosaur, but the Minosaur has only grown stronger. One attack from his array of beams forces the Ryusoulgers to all dehenshin.
Kureon arrives and thanks them for helping bring about the greatest Minosaur. He takes the Minosaur with him so they can spread fear all over the world.
Melto does not understand why he wasn’t able to defeat the Minosaur since he overcame his fear. Canalo says it is his fault since he wasn’t sure how they could defeat the Minosaur, thus fearing the worst. That is, he feared losing them, his comrades.
Asuna steps forward to say she also feared the same.
Bamba admits he too feared losing them. Which is why he didn’t want to go around forging bonds in the first place. He has a quick flashback to Master Black pointing a sword at his face.
That’s when Bamba decided that not valuing anything, especially comrades, prevents you from being hurt in the even that you lose them.
Koh, however, says he is happy because they all did fear losing their comrades. Which proves their unshakable bond with each other.
Towa comes stumbling into the factory and says he must do everything to fight alongside his comrades, no matter what. Just then, Asuna notices the fog emanating from Towa. That makes Melto realize it is the fog that materializes their fears.
Melto uses KawakiSoul to evaporate the fog and bring Towa’s legs back to normal.
Koh says their bond can overcome any fear. So instead of fearing losing each other, they should fully believe in that bond. After all, their Souls are One!
The Ryusoulgers hurry into town where Kureon and the Minosaur are wreaking havoc.
They henshin. Kureon summons some Drunns which the Ryusoulgers easily handle before they have to take on the Minosaur.
Kureon drives the mirror more into despair which gives out enough life energy to embiggen the Minosaur. The Ryusoulgers hop into KishiryuOh Five Knights and Kishiryu Neptune.
But the Minosaur continues to be more powerful. The Ryusoulgers decide it is time to combine all their powers.
Koh initiates a gattai for King KishiryuOh, but with all six of them in the cockpit. That gives them the firepower they need to finally finish off the Minosaur for good with a Big Bang Evolution.
Kureon lays the mirror down on the steps at the plaza and laughs as he runs off.
Koh picks the mirror up and smiles at it thinking maybe the mirror would appreciate a smile instead of what it’s been getting.
Koh invites everyone else to smile in the mirror as well.
Bamba watches and thinks about Koh’s words earlier. “Instead of fearing loss, believe.” He flashes back to Master Black and wonders if he should trust him one last time.
I very much enjoy good, simple teamwork episodes. Especially for characters I actually like. So I definitely enjoyed this episode a lot. And it was a good episode to help reinforce their teamwork and bond going into this final stretch. Obviously they’re going to need to work together to battle whatever final big bad boss appears. So this was a good episode to help set that all up.
It was also a great episode that served as sort of a culmination of Bamba’s season-long reticence about embracing his Ryusoul comrades. We’ve seen him begrudgingly show his emotions and true feelings toward his comrades many times already, but this obviously was the first time he has acknowledged it out loud.
The Ryusoulgers’ fear of losing one another was definitely a great way to illustrate how far they’ve come as a team since the beginning and a good catalyst to them reaffirming their teamwork.
The episode also featured, finally, all six Ryusoulgers in the cockpit of King KishiryuOh, so it worked out well to lead up to that here. I’d even say this episode was much more exciting and affecting than the debut of King KishiryuOh itself lol
I don’t know how I feel about the apparent final boss popping up out of nowhere. We don’t know how that will all play out. But I much prefer big bads that are threats or looming on the horizon for a while throughout the season rather than one that pops up and isn’t even mentioned until the 40s.
So what was the deal with the mirror? Kureon mentioned it was a mirror that shows you your own death. And I expected that to play a bigger role in the story. A very morbid thing and certainly a great jumping off point for a full-length story about such a mirror. But in the end it seemed like the mirror was merely a Minosaur birther and all it wanted was to have people smile at it instead? I didn’t get that.
Unless, it plays a role in the next episodes. Since why would Kureon leave it there like that and giggle as he ran off. I dunno. Lol
I also wonder if Master Black plays a big role in the endgame too. The flashback Bamba had was very intriguing.
Looks like there’s one last general being introduced, But I do hope Eras, whoever or whatever it is, makes for a great ending. I really liked the design for the Minosaur though. That’s Final Boss-level awesome and terrifying!
Overall, a great, exciting and enjoyable episode.
