But suddenly, the astronaut brothers Raiden and Subaru storm in. They point out Aruto used the bike outside of work hours. Aruto apologizes as he had no idea he had given them extra work. Subaru says that is fine as long as he understands now. But Raiden says it is not enough. VP Jun encourages them to go hard on Aruto, but Raiden turns and grabs his collar to blame him for not training Aruto well enough.

Aruto is surprised to see a Humagear capable of becoming angry. Izu explains that Raiden has worked for Hiden a long time and his experience has taught him to put new employees through rigorous training.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 14 Recap

Raiden wants to show Aruto just how hard it is to work in space. He grabs him by the collar and drags him out to the Hiden Space Development Center.

Subaru explains that Satellite ZEA manages all Humagears on Earth. But they, the astronaut brothers, also get to travel across space. As Humagears, not having air in space is not a problem for them.

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 14 Recap

Raiden puts his arm around his younger brother and says the whole of space is waiting for them.

Suddenly, Yua and Isamu arrive to question the brothers. Yua starts off with simple questions, but Raiden does not take too kindly to them interrupting their work. Raiden threatens to have the lightning rain down on them.

Isamu remembers his theory from earlier and directly confronts Raiden by asking him if he is a MetsubouJinrai spy.

Raiden grabs Isamu’s collar, taking offense to being called a terrorist.

Subaru says it is not possible for his brother to be a spy. Aruto agrees.

Down in the tunnels, Jin welcomes Aruto, Isamu and Raiden and explains this was all part of the plan.

Jin calls Raiden “Ikazuchi” and says he doesn’t know he is a spy. They had put a program into Raiden that automatically transmit data from ZEA without him even knowing it. Earlier, Jin actually just programmed Raiden to lead Aruto and Isamu here. And to get Raiden here himself so…

Kamen Rider Zero One Episode 14 Recap

…Jin could slap a Zetsumeriser onto him to turn him into a Magear. Jin hands him the Dodo Key and he henshins.

Isamu quickly henshins and battles Raiden. Aruto henshins to Biting Shark to try and get Raiden to stop. But Raiden is able to handle both of them and even forces them to downhenshin, releasing the Keys.

Jin tosses Raiden the remaining three Keys.

Horobi stands and sees The Ark has finally been restored. It fabricates a brand new Key.

Jin declares the holy war against humanity has begun. But Aruto henshins to Shining Hopper and is able to toss Raiden around before the backfire stifles his momentum. That gives Raiden the opening to attack Aruto and send him flying back.

Episode Thoughts

What a fascinating episode. The final battle apparently begins next week. Episode 15?! Okay sure! I’ll hold on for the ride lol

Obviously I know this isn’t the final arc or anything close to that. But I still feel a lot of pieces coming together. Perhaps climactic moments, not for the overall plot. Though I guess it goes hand in hand. But more climactic moments for our characters. Namely, it appears, Jin and Isamu.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing what happens to them both if this really signals a big turning point for each of them. I feel like the lead-up to Jin reaching Singularity has been steady, so it does make sense that the time is right.

For Isamu, we’ve seen him warming to Aruto and the idea of Humagears. But obviously his traumatic experience still eats away at him. My one critique of Isamu’s story is that while we know he obviously suffered on that day, being specific in what he lost in Daybreak would really help and add a lot to his experience. Did he lose parents? Family? A best friend? It’s fine to understand his anger so far, but if there were an even deeper and more personal connection like that, it would be huge and great to watch.

There’s obviously several threads weaving its way through the show. Gai’s role is slowly, but surely being uncovered. So like I’ve mentioned, it’ll be very interesting to see what, if any relation, Gai’s goals have to Horobi’s. And then there’s also whatever secrets Grandpa Hiden had as well.

Needless to say, they’re hyping up this decisive battle at Episode 15. But there’s obviously plenty of story left to tell for the next 35 episodes.

The astronaut brothers were also great in establishing more of the possibilities there are with Humagears and their relationships with each other. That helps fill in some of the possibilities for Jin and Horobi’s family tree as well. And I assume works with the idea of Humagears reaching Singularity.

Elsewhere, I very much enjoyed getting flashed back to Go-Busters. (Beast Morphers certainly isn’t doing that for me lol) Hearing a blaster “Ready for buster” was a fun moment for a Go-Busters fan like myself. hehe

And I enjoyed the balance of funny and dramatic this episode. This scene was particularly amusing:

Overall, a great, engaging episode. Very exciting action as well as very exciting character developments as well.
