Recap: Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger, Episode 35 – The Greatest Battle on Earth

Back home, the Ryusoulgers are trying to figure out how to counter Pricious being able to use Koh’s technique. Papa Naohisa tries to cheer them all up, but Seto pops up instead to say they don’t have to fear any new enemy since the Kishiryu can grow stronger.

Koh, Melto, Asuna and Canalo visit the Elder who says if the Ryusoulgers can level up, then their Kishiryu can level up as well. They all just have to face the Cliff of Trials then.

The Elder adds that when the land, sea and air types of Kishiryu combine their powers, a great power will be born. Canalo believes Mosa Rex will agree to that.

He visits DimeVolcano who tells him about an ultimate combination that was so powerful it burned away half the Earth. Mosa Rex feared the terrible power that made him lose himself, that’s why he hid in the depths of the sea. DimeVolcano warns that when used improperly, the power could destroy those they are trying to protect. That’s why they sealed it in the first place.

But Canalo says they need that exact power now. DimeVolcano says it depends on how Mosa Rex feels about it now. Canalo vows to level up to show Mosa Rex he is worthy of the power.

Koh finds himself in an empty abyss. Seto says that him not having anything to fight means the problem is in his own heart. If Koh does not realize what that problem is, he will remain here forever.

After two days, Melto is so wet and drenched that his sweat drips onto the invisible bridge that he can finally cross. Asuna uses two sticks to finally catch the ultrasonic insect which is actually just a mini Seto. And Canalo rejects a kiss from a beautiful lady to finish his house of cards.

Koh begs Seto give him some kind of trial. Suddenly, Master Red appears from his RyuSoul and they are transported to the mountains. Master Red says Koh must fight his own weakness. Which is as long as Koh believes he is the strongest he can be, he cannot level up.

Master Red henshins to Max Red and says Koh should not create limits for himself.

Master Red charges at Koh who is forced to henshin himself. They battle.

Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger Episode 35 Recap

It is now three days since Pricious last appeared. Towa and Bamba await his return, but Melto, Asuna and Canalo are able to meet them just as Pricious pops up.

Pricious laughs as he sees Koh is missing. The Ryusoulgers henshin. They easily slice through Drunns and charge at Pricious who has no problem handling their attacks.

Meanwhile, Koh realizes that Everlasting Claw needs some time to recharge after an attack. So he dodges Master Red’s next attack and then immediately attacks back, forcing Master Red to dehenshin.

Master Red commends Koh and reminds him that limits are meant to be overcome. Master Red disappears and Seto declares Koh has passed.

Koh hurries over to join the others who have struggled against Pricious. Koh quickly henshins to Max and takes it right to Pricious who acknowledges he has gotten stronger.

Using what he learned during his Trial, Koh endures an Everlasting Claw Max IkeSoul attack from Pricious. That allows Koh to quickly deliver one of those himself to Pricious.

Pricious survives the attack and summons Space Dragon before leaving. Koh calls Tyramigo and Pteradon. Canalo calls Mosa Rex and he arrives with the help of brother DimeVolcano.

Episode Thoughts

So considering the highs Ryusoulger has experienced the last couple of weeks, I actually was a little underwhelmed with this episode. I was expecting a lot more.

The Trials didn’t really amount to much. Last week, I liked that each Ryusoulger got a different Trial. But after seeing them all, I kinda wish the challenges themselves were more specific to each character. Like, each one would focus on something we’ve seen of them or something that they really need to change about themselves (for the better). But they all ended up being random and not that challenging. Though Canalo’s was the most appropriate for him. It still wasn’t something that matches the image the Elder painted when he first explained the Trials. There wasn’t much, if any, character development for any of them.

I think part of that was also how we really didn’t see much from the Trials themselves and we are just told how long they spent on them or how tired they were.

And then the result of the Trials. I thought we would get some kind of power up. Or the all mecha behemoth combination. I do get how King KishiryuOh is a big deal since it merges the three Rysuoul Tribes of land, sea and sky. I think it was DimeVolcano who mentioned it was the ultimate combination of Kishiryu though. So I guess we won’t be getting an all-Kishiryu mash up. (I don’t follow toy catalog news.)

It seems like this two-parter was more to introduce the new toy than any big in-show plot development. So it’s alright I guess.

The episode was enjoyable, for the most part. But I guess my expectations have been raised a lot and this episode just didn’t do it for me. Even though it wasn’t bad at all.
