That clue tells teams they must now catch a train to the Imperial City of Hue!

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition 19

Here, teams must study a row of mannequins, each wearing different types of Vietnamese traditional costumes. Teams must then search the sprawling citadel for people wearing examples of each of the costumes and accompany them to the main gate. Once teams believe they have all types, they must name each type of traditional dress correctly to receive their next clue.

At this time, teams must help prepare a local fish sauce. They will first transfer 20 big fish and 15kg of small fish off a fishing boat. They will then cut and clean the fish before placing the fish in a large jar with salt to receive the next clue.

And here they will find the Blind Double Yield Board!

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition 19

After checking in at the Yield, they will find the Road Block: Who can move it?

For this Road Block, teams must figure out this stick puzzle of 8-foot bamboo poles in which they must move a certain amount of bamboo to form a certain amount of shapes. Teams will only have five minutes to figure out the puzzle before the entire puzzle is reset and they must start from the beginning.

After the Road Block, teams must paddle a kayak down the Con River until they reach a flagged island.

Here, each team member must lead a water buffalo across the Con River to the riverbank on the other side to receive their next clue.

This is also the Trigger Point for this Leg of the Race. If any team can complete the task in less than five minutes, the U-Turn or Yield will be activated.

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition 19

Teams must now make their way to Tra Ang Spring. And here they will find the Double Road Block: Eyes or No Eyes.

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition 19

The team member with Eyes must lead their teammate with No Eyes, who will be blindfolded, across an obstacle course. First, teams must step over a series of tripwires. They must then use a stick to break two clay pots. Then they will pass the same stick through a tire without touching it before breaking a final clay pot which will have their next clue. Their partner with the Eyes can only communicate using a drum and whistle.

Craziness!

So, I now fully understand why The Amazing Race Vietnam transports teams during the Pit Stops. The logistics really force them to do so. The travel between locations in Vietnam is just very difficult and too intricate for TAR. As demonstrated here. You’re traveling through all these places, you might as well stage tasks in each stop.

Of course, you could stage Legs closer together. But I’m recycling these two specific Legs from TARV6. So, I forced them together with this insanely long Leg lol

So first up we have teams head up to the Linh Ung Pagoda. Originally, I just had teams swim out to the clue which they would be able to spot from up at the statue. But I saw that locals use basket boats out in the ocean too. I thought they were only for rivers and creeks. So I decided, why not have basket boats here anyway. It should provide for some hilarious fun. And it’s not like they have much else to do on this day lol

Since we’re traveling through Hue, we might as well visit the Imperial City. Originally I had teams just running around finding the clue. But I stumbled upon this blog and came up with this task about Vietnamese traditional wear. It still gets teams to run around the Imperial City, but they’ll also have to use their brains as well.

I decided to throw in the Express Pass here to have teams hustle and really compete during this task.

The rest of the Leg is recycled from TAR Vietnam. TARV had the stick puzzle on a different Leg, but I’m making it a little more difficult here by putting that the sticks will actually be huge bamboo poles. That should make the task more physical while still being mental as well.

For the water buffalo, it was a Road Block in the original TARV Leg. But I have both team members doing it here since it’ll make for more fun moments.

The obstacle course is really a perfect Double Road Block task. The TARV teams had some trouble. I don’t remember if any team switched who did who. But we’ll hope the obstacle course is hard and teams struggle with whichever part of the task they choose. They won’t be able to switch who will be blindfolded, so that should add some drama. Especially if they’re exhausted after the long Leg.

TARV had teams retrieving cases of Sting energy drinks. Here, we’ll have teams looking for the Roaming Gnome. But also the extra task of having to assemble a raft themselves.

Overall, this SuperLeg should exhaust teams. Which means some meltdowns, tension, frustration. Good TV!
