Asuna says it’s not Koh’s fault.

Episode Thoughts

I liked this episode because of its different vibe. It reminded me a little of Episode 19, that Melto/Tyramigo focus ep that felt very different. (Though that one is still my favorite of the season.)

This episode had this sort of somber, serious vibe throughout the episode. Very light on the slapstick or even subtle humor, if any at all. It was one part a public service announcement for getting a flu shot. And it also somehow dealt with heart health as well. Basically reminding everyone about being mindful of any chest pain because that could mean something is wrong with your heart. So definitely do not just pass it off as something small and it’s better to be safe than sorry.

With that and the fact that the Minosaur was basically strangling Asuna’s heart until she dies, the episode had a very dark undertone to it. Even morbid at some parts.

Koh being guilty about the whole situation and possibly being responsible for Asuna’s death is a pretty heavy story. And then the sideplot with the husband birther and his wife and Kureon’s taunting of him. Also to death, because don’t the birthers die once all their life energy is used up to embiggen the Minosaur?

For Koh, Melto and Asuna, this was definitely another episode that reinforced their bond.

The episode also ended in a nice, serious way too.

It was nice to see Bamba caring about Asuna. I do think they haven’t really focused on Bamba’s cold personality in a major way. More so in passing with little moments. But we do know his personality and seeing him slowly warming to the others and showing he really cares for them is a nice development.

With Nada, he’s definitely been suspicious since his arrival. But it definitely took a turn this episode. And I like it. It’s been a whole arc and it is very interesting to see other Ryusoul Tribe members who aren’t all 100% “good”.

Overall, a very interesting episode. I appreciate it and what it set out to do.
