Melto and Asuna watch Koh and Nada sparring and see how skilled Nada truly is. They can see how he would really be a candidate for Red.
Nada warns Koh that he hesitates before making a decisive attack, so he could work on that. Koh is bothered that he never realized that before. Later, Asuna says Koh shouldn’t worry too much since it’s not like he’s ever made a mistake when fighting the Druidons.
On the way home from the store, Koh and Asuna run into Kureon who fires a confetti cannon at them. Asuna feels some confetti went up her nose. Kureon laughs and speeds off.
Back home, they are enjoying a special lunch cooked by Asuna. But she suddenly feels severe chest pain and collapses to the floor.
They call Towa and Bamba over. Melto says he used MieSoul to find a microMinosaur parasite has made its way into Asuna’s lungs. Koh thinks it was probably mixed in with the confetti from Kureon’s cannon. He feels guilty for being careless and letting this happen to Asuna.
Asuna says it’s not Koh’s fault.
Enacting Melto’s plan, Towa uses ChisaSoul to miniaturize Melto and Koh so they can fight the Minosaur head-on inside Asuna’s body. Bamba helps guide them through Asuna’s body using MieSoul.
Koh and Melto find the Minosaur and they battle. But Asuna starts to feel intense pain. Bamba discovers the Minosaur’s long, spikey tail is wrapped around Asuna’s heart. And whenever the Minosaur is attacked, it damages it.
Koh and Melto retreat. They struggle to figure out a way to defeat the Minosaur. Asuna apologizes for causing them such trouble. But Bamba tells her she shouldn’t be apologizing when this is all the Druidons’ fault.
Nada calls Koh and says he will help him train to use DosshinSoul to unwrap the tail from Asuna’s heart. Melto offers to undergo the training since he has experience with DosshinSoul. But Koh says since he is partly responsible for why this happened to Asuna, he should be the one to do it.
On the other side of town, a woman runs up to Canalo asking for help with her husband who has been taken by monsters. She leads him to a warehouse where Kureon and Drunns are already driving him to despair. Canalo hurries in to take them on.
Meanwhile, Nada has set up a clear box with a balloon wrapped in a net. Koh’s goal is to use DosshinSoul to destroy the net without destroying the balloon (Asuna’s heart) or the clear box (Asuna’s body).
Koh takes several attempts, but none are successful. Nada says Koh is just not fit to be Red.
Inside, Towa and Bamba realize the Minosaur is growing, so they hurry out to try and stop it. Asuna stops Melto from joining them and instead wants him to stay with her.
Koh is running, intent on overcoming his shortcomings to save Asuna.
Towa and Bamba arrive at the warehouse and team up with Canalo. They take care of the Drunns and turn their attention to Kureon who decides to give his ultimate attack a try. He thinks he is successful, but it’s actually Gachireus who delivers the attack that gets Towa, Bamba and Canalo down. Gachireus orders Kureon to go embiggen the Minosaur.
Back home, the husband’s life energy enters Asuna, causing the Minosaur to grow more and inflict more pain. Melto tries to comfort Asuna.
Koh comes running in and vows to do his best. He henshins to Dosshin Armor and remembers Nada’s words to him as extra motivation.
On a rooftop somewhere in the city, Nada calls out to Koh and tells him to take it easy since he will take over as Red.
Melto, Ui and Papa Naohisa encourage Koh, but he hesitates again.
Asuna pushes herself to stand and tries to knock some sense into Koh, reminding him he is the Valorous Knight. She wants to tell him that she believes in him and puts her life in his hands.
Asuna turns and prepares herself for the impact. Koh hypes himself up and finally musters up the confidence.
Koh punches Asuna in the back and she collapses to the floor. They all think Koh’s killed her.
Gachireus is absolutely manhandling Towa, Bamba and Canalo. And Kureon seems to have finally driven the husband into the deepest of despair, enough to fully embiggen the Minosaur.
Koh cries out to Asuna. Asuna says he’s being too loud.
Asuna jumps up, good as new. She thanks Koh, knowing she could trust her. She then sneezes and the Minosaur goes flying out just as it sucks in the final pieces of life energy.
The Minosaur embiggens. Koh, Melto and Asuna henshin and hop into KishiryuOh Three Knights. Asuna asks Koh if she can use DosshinSoul and she summons Pachygaroo and Chibigaroo. They combine into KishiryuOh Pachygaroo to finish off the Minosaur for good.
The Ryusoulgers reunite and they are all happy Asuna is fine. They notice Bamba is emotional and he says he is just happy about Asuna. He walks away. Towa smiles and says he’s never seen Bamba this way before.
Later, Canalo is happy to find the wife and birther husband apologizing to each other and reconciling.
Koh, Melto and Asuna tease each other, not knowing Nada watches them with a sinister gaze.
I liked this episode because of its different vibe. It reminded me a little of Episode 19, that Melto/Tyramigo focus ep that felt very different. (Though that one is still my favorite of the season.)
This episode had this sort of somber, serious vibe throughout the episode. Very light on the slapstick or even subtle humor, if any at all. It was one part a public service announcement for getting a flu shot. And it also somehow dealt with heart health as well. Basically reminding everyone about being mindful of any chest pain because that could mean something is wrong with your heart. So definitely do not just pass it off as something small and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
With that and the fact that the Minosaur was basically strangling Asuna’s heart until she dies, the episode had a very dark undertone to it. Even morbid at some parts.
Koh being guilty about the whole situation and possibly being responsible for Asuna’s death is a pretty heavy story. And then the sideplot with the husband birther and his wife and Kureon’s taunting of him. Also to death, because don’t the birthers die once all their life energy is used up to embiggen the Minosaur?
For Koh, Melto and Asuna, this was definitely another episode that reinforced their bond.
The episode also ended in a nice, serious way too.
It was nice to see Bamba caring about Asuna. I do think they haven’t really focused on Bamba’s cold personality in a major way. More so in passing with little moments. But we do know his personality and seeing him slowly warming to the others and showing he really cares for them is a nice development.
With Nada, he’s definitely been suspicious since his arrival. But it definitely took a turn this episode. And I like it. It’s been a whole arc and it is very interesting to see other Ryusoul Tribe members who aren’t all 100% “good”.
Overall, a very interesting episode. I appreciate it and what it set out to do.
