Leg 18.06 – “Are we legally allowed to that?”

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

Teams open the first clue of this 6th Leg to find out they must hop on a train to Chamonix!

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

Arriving in Chamonix at 9am, teams must make their way to Eglise Saint-Michel de Chamonix-Mont Blanc.

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

And here, teams will find the Forced Double U-Turn Vote Board!

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

After casting their votes, teams must choose a 2019 Kia Sorento which will contain their next clue.

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

Teams must now drive themselves to Domaine des Planards.

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

Here, teams will find an Intersection!

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

For this Intersection, teams must pair up with another team and then switch partners before hopping into a two-person luge. Along the course, they must spot four numbers. The first pair must remember the red numbers and the second pair must remember the yellow numbers. Once the teams are reunited, they must use the four numbers to unlock a cluebox containing the next clue.

WARNING! Intersected teams are forbidden from sharing the correct combination with any other team they are not Intersected with.

Teams can now make their way to Les Grands Montets Gondola Station.

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

Teams will find the Double U-Turn Reveal Board! And it is Anonymous!

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

After checking in at the Reveal Board, teams must take a baguette and a backpack of supplies and then choose a mountain guide who will take them on a gondola to the summit of Les Grand Montets.

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

At the summit, each team member must traverse a suspension line and grab one half of the next clue on the other side.

And that clue, once joined, will reveal the Detour: Blow It Up or Set It Up.

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

In Blow It Up, teams must deliver dynamite and a baguette to a ski patrol safety team that use the dynamite for controlled explosions that prevent avalanches. Once the patrol officer detonates the dynamite, teams will be given the next clue.

In Set It Up, teams must set up a full camp based on an example, including a protective snow wall, to receive their next clue.

After the Detour, teams must now drive themselves to Planpraz Gondola Station.

And here, teams will find the Road Block: Who wants to get high? For this Road Block, teams will launch themselves with a running start off a cliff and perform a tandem paragliding ride 7,000 feet below. Teams must keep their eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary below. Once they land, teams will be asked what they saw. Teams will need to answer that they saw a yeti waving the French flag in order to receive their next clue. If they are incorrect or cannot answer the question, they must try again. Only one team can make the run at a time.

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

This is also the Trigger Point for this Leg of the Race. If any team fails their first attempt, the U-Turn or Yield will be activated on the next Leg.

The Amazing Race Philippines DryedMangoez Edition

After the Road Block, teams must “Find Balmat and Saussure.” Teams will need to figure out that this refers to the statue of Jacques Balmat and Horace Benedict de Saussure on Place Balmat.

This is the Pit Stop for this Leg of the Race. The first team to check in here will win P200,000 courtesy of Shell V-Power Nitro+.

The last team to check in here… WILL NOT be eliminated. This is a Non-Elimination Leg and the last place team must choose a Penalty Envelope:

“Director’s” Commentary

So yes, this is definitely a recycled Leg from *cringe* TAR28. It recycles the end of Leg 4 and all of Leg 5 with some modifications and additions. Originally this route only had last week’s one French Leg. But I wanted to also have a snow Leg on this route. So this was a perfect spot, especially paired with the next Leg.

The original Leg was pretty horrible. Beautiful scenery, but a horribly designed Leg with really no competition. Hopefully the little tweaks and additions here will make the Leg more competitive and exciting and not just travel porn-stuff.

So first of all, we have teams pick-up their Kia Sorentos after voting at the U-Turn. In TAR28, I assume they didn’t have teams driving themselves because of the icy roads. But here, it’s alright. Our teams are great and safe drivers hehe. But also, having it be a self-driving Leg can also make things more interesting and exciting.

I’ve added the Intersection here just as an extra task. And it does include the modified TARPHDME version of an Intersection where teams must swap partners. It’s a simple task.

The rest of Leg goes just as the original. The only tweak is that both team members must retrieve the clue halves. And actual dynamite will explode in the Detour, unlike TAR28 where they did not blow anything up. Lame!

Finally, we have a different Pit Stop and we can only hope for footraces here. Maybe one extra Route Marker before the Pit Stop can help teams catch up after the Road Block. But then again, this is a Non-Elimination Leg anyway.

Overall, this will hopefully be a much better Leg than TAR28’s! Actually, I KNOW it is. lol
