Leg 11 – “You want me to jump from this roof?!”

This is it! The penultimate Leg begins as teams must now fly from Bandar Seri Begawan to the island of Guam!

Teams will fly on Royal Brunei and United Airlines to Guam via Manila and arrive at 4:45am.

Upon arrival in Guam, teams must choose a brand new 2016 Kia Forte and drive themselves to Andersen Air Force Base.

At 6:30am, teams will be accompanied by a military escort who will drive them to the Control Tower where they will find their next clue.

And that clue reveals the Detour: Engine Care or Care Package.

In Engine Care, teams must clean an engine pod and wing on a B-52 bomber. When the sergeant approves of their work, they will be given the next clue.

In Care Package, teams will head to the warehouse where they must fill a box with 300 lbs worth of humanitarian aid items for a care package that will be sent to the Philippines. Once complete, they will board a C-17 Globemaster and participate in an airdrop training exercise before returning to the ground for their next clue.

After the Detour, teams will be driven back to their brand new 2016 Kia Fortes. They must now drive themselves to the Lina’la Chamorro Cultural Park.

And here, teams will find the Road Block: Who wants to top it off?

For this Road Block, teams must help finish off a traditional nipa roof for a home. Once the foreman is satisfied, they will receive their next clue.

Teams must now drive themselves to Ypao Beach in Tumon.

And here, teams will find ANOTHER Road Block! Who wants to snuba? This is 12th Road Block of the Race. Each team member can only do six until this point.

For this Road Block, teams must drive underwater using snuba gear to find six colored puzzle pieces corresponding to the color of their goggles. Once they’ve found all the pieces, they must put the puzzle together to reveal their next Pit Stop.

And that Pit Stop is located at the Latte of Freedom.

The first team to check-in here will step on the Mat… but find a clue box?! They will win P200,000 courtesy of Shell V-Power Nitro+. But they also have another clue!

The last team to check-in here… will find out, like the other teams, that this Leg is not over!!!

“Director’s” Commentary

Hmm… strange ending eh?!

So this is a very bare bones Leg. *spoileralert!* The next clue will tell teams to go skydiving in Guam. But the last team will get eliminated before skydiving. Really, the skydiving could’ve easily been on this Leg to help fill it out. But I also wanted some kind of extreme task for the Final Leg. Because there’s really not much you can do in the Philippines in terms of rappelling and skydiving and stuff like that.

So it could go either way. I doubt there would be any changes in placement going to the skydiving location. The 4th place team will probably still be 4th. If the 4th place team at the abandoned Pit Stop manages to overtake one or more teams, then hey! Good drama. But at the same time, it’s unlikely.

Anyway, the Detour is recycled from TAR11. And the rest of that Leg is kinda boring, so any TARPH visit to Guam would need to find more stuff to do. Something more cultural like the first Road Block. And then of course something tropical and water-inspired as well like the second Road Block.

So this is definitely a so-so Leg. But maybe it’ll be okay if paired with the Final Leg for a nice two-hour finale.
