Leg 3 – “Bad ka! Carabaos are much nicer than you!”

For the 3rd Leg of the Race, teams will leave Taiwan and fly across the Pacific to the United States and the city of Dallas, Texas.

Teams will need to find their own flights, but really, teams will be on one of two routes. Both on Eva Air and Virgin America. Flight 1 via Los Angeles arrives in Dallas at 10:10pm. Flight 2 via San Francisco arrives in Dallas at 10:55pm.

Once in Dallas, teams must hop into a taxi to take them to AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

But they will find that the stadium doesn’t open until 8am. For now, teams must choose a 2016 Kia Sportage which they will drive for the rest of the Leg as well as sleep in for the night. Each Sportage is also numbered.

After their good night’s sleep, the gates will open and teams will find their next clue which reveals a Double Road Block: Who has good hands and who has good feet?

For this Double Road Block, teams will get to experience being an American football player. And the numbers on the Kia Sportage they slept in represent the order in which they will attempt the Road Block, initially.

The team member who has good hands must catch a touchdown pass and run the ball into the end zone without getting tackled. If they fail to catch the ball or get tackled on the play, they must go to the end of line to start over.

If successful, that person must tag their partner in. BUT! They must first check-in at the Double Yield board. The team(s) who won a Super Yield in the first Leg may choose to use it here.

After the Yield board, the team member who has good feet must score a field goal by kicking the ball through the goalposts. If they miss, they must repeat the entire Double Road Block over again with the first team member catching another touchdown pass. They will then, also, need to check-in at the Yield board again.

Upon completion of the Double Road Block, teams will open their next clue which also contains a Fast Forward!!!

To attempt the Fast Forward, teams must drive to the Fort Worth Stockyards and find the mechanical bull. Teams must last a total of ten minutes on the bull without falling off to win the Fast Forward award. Each team member must accumulate at least four minutes each If a team fails an attempt, they must go back to the end of the line (if there is one).

If teams decide not to attempt the Fast Forward, they will instead find Billy Bob’s Texas at the Fort Worth Stockyards for their next clue.

That clue reveals their next task. Both team members must dress in cowboy attire (which they will wear for the rest of the Leg) and learn and perform a line dance in order to get the next clue.

Teams must now make their way on foot to the Stockyards Museum for their next clue.

That clue tells teams to find P2 Ranch in Burleson.

Here, teams must hop onto horses and help herd at least six Texas Longhorns into a pen.

Once successful, teams must drive to this farm in Grandview.

Teams must now search for their next clue by rolling over large bales of hay until they find one underneath.

That final clue points teams to the Pit Stop, Beaumont Ranch in Grandview.

The first team to check-in here will win P200,000 courtesy of Shell V-Power Nitro+.

The last team to check-in here… WILL NOT be eliminated. This is the first Non-Elimination Leg of the Race and that last place team must now choose an envelope revealing their penalty which will be assessed on the next Leg of the Race:

“Director’s” Commentary

So this is basically a mash-up of the TAR26 and TAR China 1 Dallas Legs with some slight modifications.

The first US visit for TARPH included a baseball Double Road Block, so this visit most certainly should include an American football task. AT&T Stadium is one of the best places for such a task. And of course, there’s the ready-to-use TAR26 outline, so even better! This is a good spot for a Double Road Block so both team members can suit up in a uniform and experience being out on the field. And because of that, it’s also a perfect spot for a Yield.

Whenever there’s a Double Road Block, teams should always expect a Yield in the middle of it. (lol) The difference here will be the possible use of the Super Yield. The Super Yield should be most effective with the most possible teams. But there’s also a scenario that could provide some fun drama.

There is a possibility that the team that uses the Super Yield fails the field goal kicking, 2nd part of the Road Block. That means they’ll have to go back in line AND check-in back in at the Yield board. It will be made very clear that ANY team that arrives at the Yield board after a Super Yield has been used MUST turn an hourglass over. That includes the team that used the Super Yield in the first place! (Hehe.) What could get hilariously tedious is if teams have to wait out a Yield more than once! But the Yield here could be as short as 15 minutes. Still, it has the possibility for great fun.

A Texas Leg can’t go without a mechanical bull task. I don’t have a Detour on this Leg, but it is very possible to instead have a Mechanical Bull vs. Line Dance Detour here. But for now, the mechanical bull is a Fast Forward.

One reason I decided on the line dancing to be an Active Route Marker instead of Detour is so all teams get to do it. Dancing tasks are always fun. Any any cowboy/western Leg will always have line dancing.

A Texas Leg will also always have some kind of farm task. TAR26’s Longhorn herding task was pretty good. But with the many farms in the area, any farming task is possible. A Detour could also be farming related instead.

The Leg is pretty full already and could easily end here. But what should be the highlight of the Leg is the hay bales. This version I’ve included here is TAR China’s task in which teams merely roll the huge hay bales a couple of inches to reveal the clue underneath. To be really cruel, this task could easily be the TAR6 rolling out hay bales as well. We can only hope for people collapsing and exhausted from the task. *evillaugh*

And finally, Beaumont Ranch was the TAR China Pit Stop. And after a full Leg, maybe even Linear Leg, this is a good spot for a Non-Elimination.
