Leg 3: “Moosh moosh? Are these dogs Japanese?!”

It’s Leg 3 of the Race and teams are departing from the plaza in front of San Francisco City Hall. They open the first clue telling them to fly to the Yukon in Canada.

Teams will take a BART train to SFO where they will try to find flights. But in reality, they will be flying through Vancouver and arrive in Whitehorse at 11:32pm.

Once in Whitehorse, teams will drive themselves to the Sky Wilderness Ranch where they will spend the night. They will get their next clue with breakfast in the morning.

And that first clue reveals the Road Block: Who’s feeling kind of mushy?

In this Road Block, teams will choose a sled dog team and correctly hitch them to a sled. They must then take the dogs on an icy course and collect five different flags along the course which they will trade for fur pelts at the end. They will then bring the pelts back to the ranch to exchange for their next clue. If they miss any flags, they must take a penalty lap for each missed one.

After the Road Block, teams must drive to the SS Klondike and search the ship for their next clue.

That clue reveals a Double Road Block!

For this Double Road Block, teams will need to decide which team member wants to be on their butt and which team member wants to be on their belly.

For the team member who wants to be on their butt, they will ride a snow bike on a grueling 1 kilometer course in the woods before tagging in their partner.

The team member who wants to be on their belly will be waiting at the shooting range where they must successfully shoot all five targets without missing. If they miss any targets, their partner must return to the bike course for a full lap before being given five more pellets.

After the Double Road Block, teams must then make their way to the flagged location where they must portage a canoe through the woods and then paddle themselves down the Yukon River 1.5 kilometers to the Pit Stop:

Miles Canyon.

The first team to check-in here will win P100,000 from Shell V-Power Nitro+.

The last team to check-in WILL NOT be eliminated! This is the first Non-Elimination of the Race!

The team must now choose a Non-Elimination envelope which will reveal their penalty which will be assessed on the next Leg:

“Director’s” Commentary

So this is the complete opposite of the dilemma I had doing the San Francisco Leg. Here, I have no idea what teams could do in the Yukon other than what they did on TARC2. So this Leg is pretty much a modified version of that Yukon Leg.

The tent Detour was pretty boring on TAR Canada, so I removed that and used the other side of the Detour as a Road Block instead. Sled dogs are always awesome. And to make this task better as a Road Block, I just recycled TAR17’s Road Block instead. (Remember PapaJumba being awesome at that task?)

This Leg was looking very bare (it still does!), so the SS Klondike Route Marker was a necessary addition. Especially since this Leg doesn’t have Sukhi & Jinder’s Speed Bump. (Sukhi & Jinder for TAR International All-Stars please!)

The infamous biathlon Road Block that doomed Nicole & Cormac was a good one to split into a Double Road Block. With more teams here than in TAR Canada’s Leg, the chaos of every single person doing something at the location and be exhausted should fill some good time.

The canoe and rowing themselves to the Pit Stop is straightforward.

The main reason this Leg even exists in this season is that I wanted TARPH teams to finally Race in the snow, even if just a little. And considering the eventual route of this season, Canada was the only possible location. The only other opportunity so far was in TARPHDM2 when they went to Mongolia, but snow was not guaranteed on that Leg. Hehe =)

And since it’s a pretty bare Leg,
