Rinko, Shunpei and Kosuke are excited to see Koyomi is up and about and seems to back to her normal self.
But when they see she is wearing a glove on her cracked hand, they realize that is not the case. Wajima says she seems to have stabilized, at least. And she just wants things to go back to normal instead of her laying in bed all day.
Over at Wiseman’s cave, Medusa is telling him about Sora wanting to use the Philosopher’s Stone to become human. He says he understands, so Medusa is the only one he trusts now. She says she’s already sent Phantom Arachne to the latest Gate she’s found.
Meanwhile, Mayu is under a bridge, frustrated with not being able to kill Medusa once and for all. Suddenly, White Wizard arrives and she begs him to train her into becoming a better mage. Instead, he offers to give her a new ring that has an incredibly powerful spell that should destroy Medusa. But the ring comes with a price.
Arachne is attacking downtown and Haruto, Kosuke, Rinko and Shunpei arrive to take care of the situation.
While Rinko and Shunpei get the people to safety, Haruto quickly henshins into Infinity and Kosuke goes Hyper, but Arachne manages to slip away.
Without knowing who the Gate is, the four decide to split up and try to find the people that were at the street market.
While searching, Haruto stumbles upon Donut Cart Owner entertaining Sora who is enjoying a donut at the cart.
Haruto asks what he’s doing here, but Sora asks how Koyomi is doing. Haruto asks if he knows what is wrong with her, but Sora says he can only know if he sees her personally. Haruto refuses, so Sora gets up to leave.
Haruto demands he give him information, but Donut Cart Owner and Worker hold him back when he grabs Sora’s scarf. Sora disappears.
Haruto hurries back to the shop to check on Koyomi who Wajima says is upstairs. Koyomi resolves to go about her day, but when she heads back downstairs, she overhears Haruto telling Wajima about Sora and his worries about Koyomi’s health.
Wajima laughs and says Koyomi worries about him too.
“You’ve been together so long, you’re starting to resemble each other.”
Mayu walks into the shop and asks if she could see Haruto’s rings so she could study them. Sure, Haruto says. He asks if she’s seen White Wizard lately, but she says no.
He goes up to check on Koyomi, but she’s gone. He hurries out to look for her, but continuously loses her.
Meanwhile, Shunpei and Rinko are still searching for the Gate. They literally bump into each other when Shunpei recognizes a man who was at the market earlier. They approach him and want him to come with them, but Arachne emerges from the ground.
Koyomi heads to the garden where she first met Sora. She says this is her problem and she must take care of it herself and not to worry Haruto.
Sora pops up and is happy to see her. She shows him her cracked hand and asks what is happening to her. He is happy to see his suspicions are correct, he only wishes he had realized it sooner. He smiles and skips away as Koyomi follows.
She cries for him to tell her what is going on and how to fix it. There is only one way to solve your problem, he says. “Be mine.”
Haruto comes running toward them, but Sora grabs Koyomi and has his arms around her. He insists Koyomi has agreed to come with him.
Haruto apologizes for worrying about her instead of him not being there for her through this trying time.
“But it worries me more when you disappear without saying anything.”
Wajima and Rinko-tachi too. Haruto puts his ring on, but before he can henshin, Sora goes into Phantom mode and whacks Koyomi to the ground.
Across town, Arachne has both Rinko and Shunpei by the throat before he hurls them aside. The Phantom turns his attention to the Gate, but Kosuke arrives and henshins.
Shunpei and Rinko try and take the Gate to his car, but Medusa shows up and they try to change head the other way. He drops his bag shopping bag and he wants to pick it up, but Shunpei and Rinko hurry him away.
Medusa sees the stuff that falls out of the bag, a teddy bear, baby things. She heads back to the Gate’s car and sees a picture of him and his pregnant wife. She smiles, realizing exactly what the Gate’s hope could be and calls over to Arachne to come with her. She merely blinks and Kosuke is sent back to the ground.
Sora throws Haruto around the park. He turns his attention back to Koyomi who refuses to go with him. He slaps her across the face again and steps on her until he loses consciousness. He is about to leave with her when White Wizard shows up and stops him.
Haruto watches as they battle.
Sora decides to retreat.
Haruto demands to know where Fueki has been all this time. Why did he leave Koyomi to him instead of caring for her himself. White Wizard says he needed Haruto’s magic.
Fueki sees Koyomi’s cracked hand and says time is running out.
Fueki dehenshins and thanks Haruto for caring for his daughter all this time. He takes her in his arms and says he will save his daughter no matter what it takes.
He teleports her away, leaving Haruto collapsed on the ground.
A work-like episode that really served to set everything up for the coming weeks.
White Wizard has obviously sent Mayu on a mission to again further his own goals for Koyomi (though it is a very roundabout way, I just realize). Sora has his suspicions confirmed and it’s only a matter of time before our own suspicions are confirmed. And we have our Gate of the week which I hope actually plays a part in the endgame and not just a filler procedural story. We only have a few weeks left here, ya know.
As for the little things, it was kinda lame to bust out Infinity this episode. Obviously to sell the toy, but storywise, it is definitely lame that it couldn’t even lay a dent on the Phantom. Random Rinko-Shunpei pratfall and random donut cart appearances were fine.
It was an alright episode, but a little underwhelming considering where we are in proximity to the finale.
