Kosuke, Rinko and Mayu are walking through the forest, seemingly following Sora’s directions to find the White Wizard. They might not completely trust Sora, but Kosuke says if there’s even a small chance they could save Yuzuru, they’ll take it.
Back at the shop, Saionji asks Koyomi if she remembers him. He shows her the ring and says she’s the girl he’s been looking for all this time. Same name, same aura about her.
But Koyomi doesn’t remember anything. Saionji says they should go to that lake where they first met to jog her memory. He grabs her arm, but she tells him not to touch her. Saionji is taken aback by her coldness, I mean, her literal coldness. (She’s lifeless, y’all!)
Wajima says this might finally give them insight into Koyomi’s past. Shunpei says that would mean Koyomi was actually human!
Sphinx apologizes to Medusa for being so slow with the job. She tells him to hurry because she’s got too many things on her mind these days.
Haruto fills Saionji on Koyomi’s situation. Downstairs, Wajima checks on Koyomi who is staring at the ring. Wajima is happy they can finally know Koyomi was indeed human, but Koyomi wonders if she really is that little girl.
In the forest, the three musketeers arrive at a cave where they meet White Wizard. They demand to know where Yuzuru is, but White Wizard merely says they needn’t concern themselves with unnecessary things and worry about themselves and their own fights. Yuzuru has chosen to be a mage, White Wizard says.
Kosuke demands to see him, but White Wizard refuses. Kosuke henshins and goes right for White Wizard who just hurls him over the ledge. Mayu debates whether to join in the fight.
Sora arrives, watching the fight and surprised the White Wizard was actually there.
“I don’t know if the riddle has been solved or has become more complicated…”
Kosuke goes Hyper, but White Wizard easily dispatches him, forcing him to de-henshin.
Mayu steps in front of Kosuke and pleads with White Wizard to stop. Aren’t mages the final hope against the Phantoms?! she asks. Why are they fighting against each other?
White Wizard decides to spare Kosuke, for now, thanks to Mayu and disappears. They see a body inside the cave and run over to find it is a bloodied Kizaki.
Up in the tree, Sora thinks to himself that maybe it’s time for him to stop playing around as well.
Kosuke calls the shop and Haruto heads out to help them bring Kizaki to safety.
Koyomi heads upstairs to see Saionji. She hands him the ring and asks for a favor.
Haruto arrives at the hospital where the others have brought Kizaki. He remains unconscious.
Mayu wonders how Sora knew White Wizard’s exact location. Who cares, Kosuke says. What’s important is that they now know how much of a bastard White Wizard is.
Across town, Shunpei is heading to the shop with arms full of groceries for the party he’s planning for Koyomi. He sees Koyomi and Saionji walk past, but drops all his groceries and can’t catch up to them.
He calls Haruto to tell him they’ve left the shop.
Koyomi and Saionji arrive at the lake. They go to the swing, that’s now broken. But Koyomi still can’t remember anything.
She asks him what kind of a child she was. She was cute and a pleasant presence.
Koyomi thought she’d remember something if they came here. Saionji says they are similar. When he first came here, he too didn’t know who he was. But, her words had saved him.
Flashback. The little girl says she has a frail body, so she can’t play too far away. That’s why her father made her this swing just for her. And her late mother watches over her, so everything’s okay.
Her mother gave her the flower ring and reminded her that whenever she worries about herself, to just think about what she wants to become and to look forward to her future.
Cute girl, but no way that’s her, Koyomi says. If she was human, she’d never forget such a lovely story.
He suggests she think about who she wants to be as a first step. He gives her the ring when Sphinx arrives.
He whacks Koyomi’s face with his cane and takes the ring from Saionji. He melts the ring and steps on it, forcing Saionji’s Phantom to start cracking through.
Haruto, Shunpei and Kosuke arrive as the purple cracks appear.
Kosuke takes care of Sphinx while Haruto hopes to take care of Saionji’s Phantom. He enters Saionji’s Underworld where the Phantom has begun to rampage.
Haruto calls on Dragon and they work together against the Phantom.
Kosuke goes Hyper to finish off Sphinx.
Meanwhile, Haruto finishes off Saionji’s Phantom and watches the scene from 10 years ago play out. He watches Koyomi run to her father… FUEKI!!!!!!!!!!!
Haruto returns above ground and doesn’t immediately let Shunpei or Kosuke know what he just saw.
Saionji is sad the ring has been destroyed, but Koyomi says she still received it and that the feelings he put in the ring, she has inside of her. No matter who she is, she will help save everyone as a human. That’s who she wants to be.
Koyomi thanks Saionji for giving her hope, but he says it’s all her.
Haruto is still in shock while Fueki watches from the bushes. He takes out the purple ring and says “Just one more… Koyomi.”
Oh shit! Are you serious right now? That was definitely not the shocking revelation about Fueki/White Wizard I was expecting. (Though the revelation I AM expecting, I still expect in the future.)
This whole season of almost indifference to Koyomi and the almost zero insight into her story is almost wiped away with this big revelation. Like it’s really big. Let’s be honest. What is the freaking deal with her and what does it have to do with White Wizard’s sneaking around? What is the damn end game here!?!?!?
I definitely enjoyed this episode and liked how that tidbit was revealed by Haruto in the Underworld. A much better reveal than last episode’s lame reveal.
Other things, Saionji’s Phantom is really cool. I like the randomness of the Phantoms in the Underworld. They are literally the stuff of nightmares.
