Haruto and Rinko stand in Kizaki’s upside down office, wondering why White Wizard would do all of this if he is indeed the culprit. Isn’t he on their side.
They head to the shop where Kosuke questions the same thing. He’s fired up and angry, he won’t let the White Wizard force Yuzuru into becoming a mage.
Medusa and Sora meet underground. She asks why he stopped her from killing the Gate and he says thanks to her, he found what he was looking for. She’s found another Gate and has already sent Phantom Sphinx.
That’s great, Sora says. He hopes this Gate produces a Phantom this time, for Wiseman’s sake.
At the shop, Haruto has just finished feeding Koyomi some magical energy. He notes how she’s been running out a lot quicker these days. She goes to polish her crystal ball while Haruto, Shunpei and Wajima talk about Kosuke having gone out to search for Yuzuru. He’s been pretty angry as he feels responsible for it. Koyomi listens.
Across town, bestselling author Masafumi Saionji is holding an autograph session. Afterwards, Sphinx approaches him, ready to drive him to despair.
Haruto arrives just in time and he and the Phantom fight. Sphinx retreats.
At Kizaki’s office, Rinko watches CSI looking over the crime scene.
Meanwhile, Sora watches from the neighboring building.
Haruto and Shunpei explain the situation to Saionji. He asks Haruto to use his magic to find someone for him, but Haruto says he doesn’t have that power. You’re useless then, Saionji tells him.
They follow him home when he realizes he’s lost the flower ring he kept in his pocket. He tells them it’s his ring of hope, what has motivated him to write all these years. He recounts how he suffered from writer’s block 10 years back and even wanted to kill himself, but a little girl gave him hope. She gave him her little flower ring to get him be hopeful for the future.
He’s returned to that place he met her in hopes of returning the ring and thanking her. But he’s never seen her since.
Wajima notices Koyomi is not herself and tells her to take a break. She thinks to herself that the others are catching on to her low magic energy per day efficiency.
Kosuke finds Mayu and tells her what the White Wizard did to Yuzuru. He asks where he could be, but she doesn’t know since he taught her magic in some mysterious dimension. She doesn’t even know how to go there.
At the cop shop, Chief is telling Rinko she’s been transferred to National Security Department 0. He tells her not to embarrass their own department, all while being nasty and embarrassing himself. Good riddance, Rinko thinks. (I assume.)
While Rinko calls Haruto to tell him about her promotion, Saionji escapes after getting a call himself.
Rinko sees Kosuke and Mayu by the water. Mayu tells Kosuke she wants to look for White Wizard with him so she can find out exactly what the white guy is thinking.
Saionji meets with his editor who was contacted by a man who found his ring. Turns out, the man is Sphinx and threatens to destroy the ring right in front of him to drive him to despair. But Haruto and Shunpei arrive just in time.
Garuda manages to snatch the ring out of Sphinx’s hand to return it to Saionji as Haruto henshins.
Transition fade between Saionji’s flower ring to Koyomi’s Engage ring (subtle).
Sora watches as Rinko tells Mayu about the White Wizard probably having something to do with Kizaki’s disappearance. Sora smiles and makes himself known.
Haruto goes Infinity, but Sphinx disappears while Haruto takes care of Ghouls.
Kosuke gets ready to henshin against Sora, but Sora says no need for that.
He was hoping they could cooperate. He could tell them where the White Wizard is. Good deal eh? Kosuke says yes.
Haruto and Shunpei bring Saionji to the shop. Koyomi comes out to welcome them back and when Saionji hears her name, he immediately turns to her. He knows her!?!?!
Episode Thoughts
Yeah, that last scene was a shocker eh? Kinda disappointing how they made it obvious throughout the episode when those not-so-subtle transitions between Saionji and Koyomi were completely unnecessary. It would’ve been a nice little shocking cliffhanger, even with just Saionji’s memory of a little girl gone missing.
I’m excited to see, finally, Koyomi’s past. But the way they “eased” into the reveal was a letdown.
The witch hunt, or I guess White Wizard hunt is a nice way to have Kosuke, Mayu and Rinko working together. And throwing Sora into their triangle could be very interesting, especially with pushing forward to the finale. I am kinda dreading the eventual next shocking twist because it seems even more obvious than Koyomi being Saionji’s hope girl. But we’ll see how it plays out.
Oh, and it must be pointed out: What horrible CGI during that scene of Sora walking on top of the arches. That was pretty amateur considering all the other special effects they do without problems every week. Eeek.
