Recap: Kamen Rider Wizard, Episode 28 – The Stolen Belt

Wizard 28

Koyomi wonders if Mayu is okay, but Haruto says it was her decision to fight. Wajima points out how Mayu and Haruto are alike, but Haruto reminds them that not all Gates will become mages. So they need to continue to do what they’ve been doing and protect them.

Wizard 28

Donut cart owner and worker serve Kosuke a new creation, Tuna Mayo Donut. They’re excited someone will actually try something new, unlike Haruto. But a sudden breeze blows a newspaper onto donut cart owner’s face and Kosuke recognizes a similar looking lion artifact uncovered by an archaeologist Nakamoto.

Wizard 28

Garuda-tachi are off to look for Gates. Koyomi has her hand on Haruto’s crotch belt to get her daily magic fix.

Wizard 28

And Golem continues to be shy. But he hops onto Wajima who says maybe Golem is good at something other than what Garuda and the others are good at. Golem picks up a hammer.

Wizard 28

Medusa watches as Nakamoto arrives at the airport. Kosuke meets him in the garage and tells Nakamoto that what he’s found actually belongs to him. But Nakamoto won’t let anyone steal his “prize.” He drives off only to get attacked by a Phantom.

Kosuke catches up to fight it.

Wizard 28

Kosuke decides to henshin in front of Nakamoto and shows him the similar looking belt. Haruto arrives to help as Nakamoto wonders the connection between what he dug up and Kosuke’s belt.

Wizard 28

Rinko and Shunpei arrive to take Nakamoto to safety.

Wizard 28

Sora watches from above, interested in Nakamoto’s artifact.

The Phantom manages to run off and Sora thinks about what to do next.

Wizard 28

At the park, Kosuke and Nakamoto make a deal to share their findings. They head to Nakamoto’s lab where they study each other’s artifacts. Nakamoto proceeds to take pictures of Kosuke’s crotch.

Wizard 28

Rinko comes to the shop with what she’s found out about Nakamoto, saying he comes off as more of an assistant at the lab which is why this finding is a big chance for him.

Wizard 28

Back at the lab, Sora happily waits outside as Nakamoto and Kosuke continue looking at the stuff.

Wizard 28

At the shop, Wajima shows them a treasure chest Golem made himself to help keep the rings safe. He gets embarrassed by Koyomi’s complement and locks himself inside.

Lab again. Nakamoto gets Kosuke drunk and asleep. When morning comes, Nakamoto screams Phantom and tells Kosuke his belt and ring have been stolen by it.

Wizard 28

Kosuke goes after the Phantom and runs into Sora who says he has nothing to do with the missing belt, but decides this is a good time to defeat him then.

Haruto arrives and asks Kosuke what he’s doing not henshin-ing. He tells Haruto Sora took his belt, which makes Nakamoto give a guilty look to himself.

Wizard 28

Both Haruto and Kosuke are having trouble against the Phantoms while Ghouls arrive to surround Nakamoto.

Episode Thoughts
There was a lot of crotch focus this episode. Like seriously. Even more than usual. I mean, Nakamoto was taking pictures of Kosuke’s crotch!

Despite that being the biggest takeaway from this ep, it was a solid breather after the big episodes we had the last two weeks. Starting with our donut cart friends, we got a lot more of the random chuckles this episode (in addition to Sora’s chuckles of course) which really is just a build up to next week’s new toy introduction, I assume.

So not much character development, except for maybe cute little Golem. But an overall enjoyable episode.

  1. While I still remember this episode. I have to say that the most memorable part was: This was the second and last time Kosuke’s archaeological background came up. So the whole “he accepted Chimera because he wanted to know everything about it” just doesn’t hold up. Apart from this exception and his first flashback, archaeology was never a topic, so I do not believe he would ever risk his life for that.

      1. Which is why I keep thinking, even this long after, that they should have made Shunpei into Kamen Rider Beast. I can totally belief that he would risk his live to become a wizard/rider as well. But with … whatever his name was, it is presented too badly. Even his “rivalry” with Harutor makes no sense the way it was presented. I think they just wanted some rivalry and another comic relief without knowing how and why.

        1. I definitely agree Shunpei should’ve been a Rider. I always get really annoyed how both Kamen Rider and Sentai like to introduce random characters to become the 6th Ranger or extra Rider in the middle of the season. Why not someone who’s been there from the beginning, right?
