Recap: Tokumei Sentai Go-busters, Mission 34 – The Enemy Is Beet Buster?!

Gobusters 34

The Go-busters are waiting for the Megazord to arrive (Ahh!), so in the meantime, they try to locate the other 12 cards. Jin seems to be more concerned with fooling around through.

Gobusters 34

Hiromu, Ryuji and Yoko are not amused.

While patrolling the area, Hiromu spots Jin and J playing with the schoolchildren in the park. Hiromu tries to get Jin to be serious while Nick reminds J about helping to keep his partner in line. Suddenly, one of the Messiah cards attaches itself to a puppet and sucks Enetron out of J to become a full Puppetroid Metaroid.

Gobusters 34

Nakamura detects a 2nd Megazord is in transport as Ryuji and Yoko hurry to join Hiromu and Jin. Both of them henshin and fight the Metaroid, but it turns its attention to one of the teachers.

Gobusters 34

Puppetroid collects data from her by controlling her movements. She hurls a kid across the park (!) and Puppetroid then turns its attention to Jin, sending the puppet into him and forcing him to fight the others.

Puppetroid drags Jin away and they head back to command center.

Gobusters 34

Hiromu realizes the Metaroid must be trying to divide and conquer. Across town, Puppetroid continues playing with Jin to collect more data as Enter and Escape watch. Escape is doubtful this will help Papa, but Enter wants to collect data on the Go-busters. Enter reminds her he’s in charge of this “game.”

Gobusters 34

At command center, they decide Hiromu will take on Jin while the others take care of the incoming Megazord. Hiromu says he can easily take care of Jin, especially since he’s been screwing around. This gets J riled up. He says Jin screws around… when he cries, when he feels very sad.

Gobusters 34

Hiromu meets Jin in the city and they proceed to fight.

“Jin-san, please stop joking around. Or should I say… stop crying.”

Gobusters 34

Meanwnhile, the others are fighting off the first Megazord. But Yoko and Usada get sucked in and turned into data just as the second Megazord arrives. The puppet Megazord starts to control Gorisaki and the Buster Machine, forcing them to attack J.

Still fighting, Hiromu brings up how Jin kept the truth about their parents being within Messiah a secret from them. And how horrible he must have felt seeing them be destroyed after spending 13 years with them in the subdimension.

Gobusters 34

“Maybe you’re more upset about this than I am, Jin-san.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. It’s just that I’m the only one left…”

He doesn’t finish and charges at Hiromu who blocks his swipe and says Jin doesn’t have to face this alone. Nick brings Puppetroid out from hiding and Hiromu manages to destroy the Metaroid’s puppethand, freeing Jin from control.

Hiromu uses Powered Custom to finish off Puppetroid.

Gobusters 34

Back at the Megazord fight, a Lion-ish Buster Machine or Megazord appears to help free both Yoko and Ryuji’s Buster Machines from the Megazords’ controls. Hiromu and Jin join them, combine and finish off both Megazords.

They turn back to the Lion who then fires at them and disappears. Kuroki seems to recognize it.

Episode Thoughts
Ah! So I spoke too soon last time about maybe having the Megazord battle off-screen. Instead, it looks like Go-busters is shifting to the two-parters, like Kamen Rider? Of course, it could just be because we had that two-part Gavan crossover and last week’s episode just carried over into this one. But I wouldn’t mind seeing the two-part format. If not, maybe the Operation Overdrive, cliffhanger-an-episode style that I did like.

This was a good episode nonetheless. You just can’t figure out Jin on the surface, can you? It’s good we got to see that scene of Hiromu telling Jin they should deal with the pain of their loss together. We haven’t seen their post-subdimension reactions that much yet. I don’t expect moping or being emo, but at the very least, show them trying to deal and cope.

One little thing though, I hate when Sentai or even Power Rangers give the monster of the week a childlike voice or makes them shy and innocent-ish at first. I totally pity them when they’re

killed. I feel almost sad. lol
