The Amazing Race 20 Steady in the Ratings
With The Amazing Race on a two week break for Academy of Country Music Awards, it’s a good time to check in with the show’s ratings at this halfway point.
For a 10 year old reality-competition program, TAR is doing quite well. Through six episodes, the show’s milestone 20th season has averaged a 5.5/9 rating and share in households with 9.5 million viewers and a 2.7/7 rating and share in the all-important 18-49 demo. That’s pretty much identical to The Amazing Race 18: Unfinished Business last year (9.5 million viewers and a 2.7/7 18-49 demo), with TAR20 up a tenth in households (from 5.4/9 last year).
TAR20 has held up very well against ABC’s freshman hit Once Upon a Time, either winning its timeslot in both viewers and the demo or coming in a close 2nd. Probably the biggest sign of The Amazing Race‘s continued strength, the current season has placed in the weekly Top 20 in viewers and the demo, except for Episode 2 which went up against the Oscars and the first episode which ranked #21 in viewers.
Here’s to TAR staying strong for the next 20 seasons!
