Early Fall TV P/Review: “Runaway,” “The Nine,” “Studio 60,” “The Singles Table”

RUNAWAY (CW)
Bored the hell out of me. Especially after watching “The Traveler,” it was definitely something the former WB would come up with. It was like a mix of “7th Heaven” and “24”/”Prison Break” minus anything enjoyable.
RUNAWAY: D
Runaway will air Mondays at 9:00PM/8:00c on The CW. Series Premiere: Monday, September 25th

THE NINE (ABC)
The Nine has a very interesting premise. Nine people share a horrifying experience while being held hostage in a bank by two armed robbers. They come out changed people. The viewer does not learn of what happened inside until the beginning of each episode when 10 more minutes will be revealed.
It has a very good cast, and it flows well. However, I was left wanting more and not in the sense that I want to watch the next episode. In fact, there wasn’t enough to draw me in to invest my season in the show.
THE NINE: B
The Nine will air Wednesdays at 10:00PM/9:00c on ABC. Series Premiere: Wednesday, October 4th

THE SINGLES TABLE (NBC)
Judging by the pilot, John Cho is poised to be the star of the show. And he is fully capable of being it. The Single Table has its funny moments, but there are also some jokes that fall flat. It has potential, and I feel pilot is definitely like a prologue to a novel, one can’t really see where everything is going until after seeing more than the 2nd episode. Its not The Office or Scrubs, but it is worth a 2nd look.
THE SINGLES TABLE: B
The Singles Table will premiere midseason on NBC

STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP (NBC)
Everyone will probably love it, but for me I had to force myself through the entire episode. It was slow, couldn’t hold my interest. I guess it’s just not my type of show? It is interesting, but nothing drew me in to watch the entire season. I know its being hailed as the best new show of the season, but I will be one of the very few people not watching the show on Mondays.
I think the premise would work better as a comedy… so I’m definitely anticipating “30 Rock” and hope it’ll be better
STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP: B-/C+
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip will air Mondays at 10:00PM/9:00c on NBC. Series Premiere: Monday, September 18th
