EP 09-05: GOOD THING I TOOK THAT HUMAN ANATOMY CLASS IN HIGH SCHOOL
Great episode! I believe this is the first time since its introduction that the YIELD actually played a part in the Philimination. Had Dani & Danielle not been YIELDed, Ray & Yolanda would’ve probably been eliminated.
Ray & Yolanda definitely fell far behind, good thing they caught up. I was definitely relieved that Dani² was PHILiminated instead of Ray & Yolanda. They broke another cardinal TAR rule… they didn’t know how to drive a stick! tsk tsk… I think that’s actually become a REAL TAR prerequisite.
Fran & Barry hit a minor bump in their momentum. They walked right by the Clue Box AGAIN. Other than that, they are continuing to step it up which is great. (ETA: However, after watching the videos at CBS.com, Fran & Barry explain their brush off of Lake and how they don’t have to help people on the Race. That’s kinda hypocritical considering how many times they’ve asked for some kind of help. Still, they’re harmless and getting there.)
David & Lori continue their profession of love for each other, as Lori had a mini-meltdown while completing the ROAD BLOCK. BJ & Tyler continue to be overly hippy, I guess you could say. Even Phil looked annoyed. But they get MAJOR points for their t-shirts: “BOWLING” “MOMS” … great shoutout to TAR5’s legendary Bowling Moms Linda & Karen. I really like Racers who are actual TAR fans a lot more than those who have never watched an episode in their life.
Also continuing this week, Eric & Jeremy. I am definitely starting to see the editors’ subtle insinuations about their horniness. lol… Regardless, they are now on par with Kris & Jon‘s pace with 2 first place and 2 second place finishes in the first 4 legs. Kris & Jon went on to have the best run of TAR ever in terms of leg finishes. Thought their wheelchair races were pretty fun, and harmless since they were at the aiport in the middle of the night with basically no one there. Good way to pass the time, especially on the hectic Race.
Speaking of K&J, Kris & Jon-lite aka Monica & Joseph aka MoJo started to show signs of dysfunctionality, in a way, with Monica’s frustration but moreso in the preview. However, those previews are always intentionally miseleading. Hopefully it won’t be bad.
A big HAHA to Lake & Michelle. They made so many mistakes in this leg, even more than Fran & Barry ever did. And did you see Fran & Barry’s brush off to Lake & Michelle? Twice!! lol… they basically said “Get away from me bitch!” to L&M… lol.
So, the DETOUR involved ANOTHER luck task, which really, honestly sucks. The DETOUR itself wasn’t that interesting. The frantic-ness surrounding it was what kept you on the edge of your seat. The ROAD BLOCK was definitely tricky. Didn’t the other teams see AND hear the others about the two extra pieces of the statue?
Overall, the episode was pretty exciting. Placement changes happened throughout the episode with 3rd through 8th place. From Lake & Michelle’s airline troubles to Ray & Yolanda getting lost twice… several teams were in the running to be PHILiminated.
Definitely a great episode!
