A plane crashed on a mysterious island in 2003 and I was hooked.
The Lost series premiere was incredible television, something rarely seen, and it hooked myself and millions of people around the world.
An intriguing and intricate series that sucked Continue reading
The 2000s have come and gone. A new decade is about to begin and lists of the best movies, music, television, paint colors, boy band, furniture, light fixtures, etc. are pouring in. As we close out 2009 and the 2000s, I thought about my own list. But my list of television shows aren’t necessarily “the best,” but the shows that defined my decade. The shows that meant something to me the last ten years, shows that left their mark in my mind and in some cases my heart as well.
On to the list! →
THE APPRENTICE: MARTHA STEWART
You just don’t fit in.
And with those words, the first contestant was sent packing by Martha Stewart. Her gentler, nicer, and more colorful version of The Apprentice began last night. Though there weren’t any big surprises or twists, The Apprentice: Martha Stewart delivered.
Martha’s version will of course be compared to Donald’s. And much of the series is the same: two teams, one task, one team wins, one team goes to the board room (or in Martha’s case, the conference room) and one person is eliminated from the competition.
The conference room, the catchphrase, and Martha’s niceness are really the only major differences between the two Apprentices. That is one reason why NBC definitely made an odd decision to have “Martha Wednesdays” and “Trump Thursdays.” This kind of overload could spell trouble for the franchise.
But the contrasting personalities of Martha and the Donald should be able to distinguish the two Apprentice series.
Other than probably 5 contestants, the new Apprentice hopefuls weren’t really focused on. We did not learn much about any of them other than Bethanny and Martha’s version of George, a cigar holding Jim, already know each other. Hmm…
The tasks should illustrate Martha’s vision, both personally and the vision of her company. Last night’s book writing task was simple, yet the “Matchstick” team (who are supposedly creative) managed to create drama over adapting “Hansel and Gretel.”
Though Martha’s Apprentice wasn’t a ratings smash last night, its future is still bright.
The Apprentice: Martha Stewart is definitely “a good thing.”

LOST, SEASON TWO PREMIEREThey showed that the Emmy was well deserved last night. Thrilling, a little Alias-esque at the beginning… and even more mystery…. Lost is back!
Wednesdays at 9PM on ABC/KGO 7
Everyone said it was the best new drama of the season. Umm… how? After the “Lost” roller coaster, “Invasion” seemed slow, boring, and uneventful. The twists weren’t surprising and the story doesn’t seem gripping or interesting at all. “Invasion” was actually worse than “Threshold.” At least “Threshold” had an element of excitement.
Wednesdays at 10PM on ABC/KGO 7
What should be a gripping military drama is just a boring imitation of real-life situations. It was slow and not well-produced. It has a great premise, but Jerry Bruckheimer’s magic touch just didn’t help in the premiere episode.
Wednesdays at 9:00PM on NBC/KNTV 11 (Cable 3)
The Primetime Emmy Award nominations will be announced next month, and networks were busy promoting their shows for Emmy consideration. Here are the actors I think should be considered from the shows I actually watch. Tomorrow, I’ll post who I *want* to be nominated for Emmys, not who I *think* will be nominated. (Since most of the ones I want nominated will most likely NOT be nominated)

LOST SEASON FINALE ABC
OMG… “The Others” appear out of nowhere… that was “Dark Shadows” freaky… I was expecting them to say that they were all already dead or something, they looked like it… Taking Walt? wow… what are they going to do to him? and then The Others blowing up the raft…
I think that was the only major twist tonight… we didn’t get to see what was inside the hatch… just a long passage/tunnel/thing into the ground… And the monster? what the hell was that black smoke? Is the dinosaur a witch or something and can transform into a puff of smoke?
Overall, it was still an awesome episode…
ALIAS SEASON FINALE ABC
We get back to the Rambaldi stuff… and that big red ball exploding into water like in season one’s finale with Vaughn getting stuck in the room after that red ball exploded… those infected zombies were pretty freaky too… were they supposed to bring on the end of the world? So the small device was just a blueprint of sorts for the big device? I get it now…
And I was saying to myself… “wow… is Alias going to have a happy ending for once?” and of course, here comes Vaughn saying it isn’t his real name and then some truck hits them from the side… that took me completely by surprise, I jumped out of my seat…
JJ ABRAMS is a genius… a pure genius… man I wish I could be like him…
Yes!!! POWER RANGERS: DINOTHUNDER is back on Weekdays on ABC Family (beginning June 13th)
Even though I have all the episodes anyway, it’ll be nice to see it back on ABCFam… what a damn good show… (but it would’ve been better if Conner and Kira hooked up… geez)
VERONICA MARS SEASON FINALE UPN
YES! Duncan and Veronica are NOT brother and sister…. so now they can go back to being a legitimate couple… He was sooo at the door at the end of the episode… So the wierd movie actor guy killed her becuase she had the disgusting sex tapes… how Hollywood… lol… The last scenes of the episode were scary… Veronica in the ice box was like Sydney in a coffin on an episode of ALIAS this season… I thought Aaron Echolls almost losing his arm to Backup and then getting hit by a truck was both funny and very random… anyway, UPN better move VM to another timeslot becuase I’m getting a little tired of taping it… lol
Hmm… nothing too shocking… Walt was being his wierd self… Kate has some kind of freaky supernatural power too… she killed her mother? by touching her hand… or maybe she had a needle or poison or something, I dunno… Nothing too special really…
Haven’t seen it yet, but Sloane’s wife is back for one episode… her death episode was one of the best… Anyway… Lena Olin finally stopped being stubborn and greedy and is finally back as Irina Derevko next week… lol
Oh man, I was screaming “RUN THOSE FREAKS OVER!” Why couldn’t they have just run over those satanists with the tank? They had to go out and actually fire their weapons… darn… and of course more eerie stuff… Olivia’s death was so sad… the Sister going to see where they took her and then her seeing them taking her heart out… and then Olivia being led to heaven by the Doc’s daughter… wow… and then the last scene with Hawk walking into fire… geez… next week is the finale… should be amazing…
THE CONTENDER NBC
I hope Manfredo wins it all… I am so glad Jesse beat that cocky Alfonso… His daughter was pretty sad though…
AMERICAN DREAMS NBC
OMG… If that was the series finale (and I pray to God that it wasn’t)… then American Dreams ended in the worst possible way… Even as a season finale (and it wasn’t even that, since this episode was supposed to lead into a two-part season finale, but NBC cut the episode order to 17)…
Was that supposed to be romantic? Umm… no…
Meg is so stupid… what a dumb bitch, seriously… I can’t believe she chose some piece of crap over her own family and friends… how can she justify what she did? He lied to her, he’s a drunk crackhead smoker, he is a murderer, a draft dodger… overall just a jackass…
The only other real story in tonight’s episode… JJ and NASA and Beth… that was heartbreaking, but understandable… now THAT was understable unlike Miss “I want to run away with my lover”… Ugh…
I think the NEED to resolve these stories is reason enough for NBC to renew the show… (in addition to the fact that AD is one of the few actual quality, critically acclaimed shows on NBC, NBC is a complete mess and AD’s timeslot is one less to deal with if it is renewed)
THE OFFICE NBC
This show is freakin’ hilarious… they began the original American scripts last night and it was so funny… I love this show… one of my new favorites…
Wow… what a great episode… very eerie again… Terry O’Quinn (Locke) is an amazing actor… definitely deserving of an Emmy nomination… His backstory (part 2) was so sad… How about Bloody Boone… I think Ian Somerhalder has been seriously underused, same with Maggie Grace (Shannon)… There are episodes when they aren’t even in one scene…
Anyway, that airplane has to mean something, I mean the Virgin Mary statues (minus the crack) and then Locke’s mother saying he was “immaculately conceived”… I wonder who’s going to die at the end of the season…
FINALLY… an episode of season 4 that I liked… maybe because I actually watched the whole episode, or maybe becuase Marshall was the main focus… he is hilarious and how cool was it to have him back in the field… I remember the last time he and Sydney were in the field and he had taken a drug himself and he was all woosey and out of it and Syd snapped him out of it once she kissed him and he then was working at super speed after that… lol… Syd’s kisses are adrenaline boosters… lol… but this is a great episode, still I’m still missing the old ALIAS
However, this dialogue between Jack & Marshall was so random, but hilarious:
Jack: “You’re going to need a digging instrument to assist with this.”
Marshall: (searching through the dead guy’s desk) “Uh, I got a spork!”
Jack: “What’s a spork?”
Marshall: “It’s like a half-spoon, half-fork. Will that do?”
Jack: “That will work.”
AMERICAN IDOL FOX
Ewe… I thought we were rid of Anwar… I liked Jessica, she was very good… but whatever… Idol’s sucked since season 2…
Being reviewed tonight 🙂
It was Hurley’s episode… so of course it’d have some funny parts… but it was very serious… those numbers, what do they mean? and they appear on the thing Locke and Boone find? Geez… more mysteries added to the dozen other mysteries… Locke knows everything! He knew it was Claire’s birthday… And the “French chick” Rousseau is back.. and she didn’t want to torture Hurley… I guess he’s not as attractive as Sayid? lol Hmm… I think Rousseau and Hurley have a connection now, a bond over those lottery numbers… but darn it… its a repeat next week…
Woah… Melissa George is back (kinda), meaning Lauren Reed is back… ewe… hold on, why do they have Lauren’s body still? And Sark was in love with her? VERY MUCH in love? I thought they were just a fling… craziness… And of course, Anna Espinosa… going back to the classic Alias with the endless rounds of bullets… coolios…
And its Power Rangers Wild Force’s Ilia Volok! on Alias again… this is his second appearance on the show… Master Org was one sick child of a female dog…
Lol… Sydney as Lauren… and it is just so funny how David Anders is from Oregon… funny British accents…
I hope they get back to the old Alias… and they’re starting to
AMERICAN IDOL RESULTS SHOW
Now wasn’t that better, and less painful? The judges were actually serious this week… very different from their stupidness and uselessness… and just saying “who’s in” or “who’s out” is better… no need for a full hour… I guess Fox got a lot of slack for last week…
DAYS OF OUR LIVES: THE CAPTURE IN IRAQ/SAMI-STAN
Well, it looks like Philip Kiriakis is about to get captured by masked Iraqi gunmen… will this spike Days’ sagging ratings? Maybe… Kyle Brandt and Ken Corday were on Fox News talking about the possible “controversial” storyline… this storyline and the Sami/Stan storyline… Dan Wells was very good yesterday as Sami as Stan… might bring the buzz back to Days… and maybe get them a freakin’ Emmy Nomination…
DAYTIME EMMY NOMINATIONS – AKA “CRAP”
I am not surprised, but NBC was shut out again… a total of 4 nominations for both Days and Passions… while ABC’s “All My Children” gets 18 nominations… what the frack… The Emmy’s are still broke… and they need to fix it… the nominees should be chosen by quality and good performances, not by cash and kickbacks from Disney…
While I am happy, I am shocked that Passions’ Juliet Mills (Tabitha Lenox) got a nomination… I love Juliet, she is amazing, but she did not do anything last year… and definitely not as Lead Actress… maybe the year Josh Ryan Evans died and Tabitha had to deal with Timmy’s death… those were intense scenes… I wonder what she submitted this year, it must’ve been huge…
And of course Deidre Hall (Dr. Marlena Evans) is screwed out of a nomination becuase God-forbid NBC gets more than one acting nomination a year
8 Lead Actress nominations and no Dee Hall? Ugh… the Daytime Emmys are seriously screwed up and their attempts at fixing it the last 2 years has not worked at all…
VAN DE KAMPS/CITI COMMERCIALS
I think these two commercials are hilarious… that fish, standing on its tail and just opening and closing its mouth, its so funny and then the people slowly backing away… lol… and how about that one Citi Card commercial where they are at the reading of a will or whatever and the guy gets slapped in the back of the head… lol
Man am I pissed… Melinda Lira was NOT the worst singer last night… She was so shocked and upset, it was heartbreaking… she did not deserve to go home today…
Okay… my rant begins… first off, this 6 men, 6 women system they have this year is unfair… becuase most of the women were a whole lot better than even the best guys… I think the women are still stronger than the men, and at least 4 of them will be screwed becuase they want it to be “even” …
I completely agree with Melinda’s comment about how some of the contestants got so much more exposure than others who weren’t even seen before they sang last night or Monday… Some contestants have already built up fanbases and garnered sympathy becuase of their situations… we had one freakin’ month of auditions that were completely unnecessary… they included all the little vignettes about their lives (oo… “I’m a school teacher”… ooo “I left my band to be on Idol” … ooo “They said I would never speak again” … ooo “I’m hyper and annoying because I’m on drugs”)
Maybe a two-hour special showing auditions is enough because the point of American Idol is… or should be… America choosing the next great singer based on their talent and singing ability… not based on sympathy or becuase they donated a million dollars to a charity or they have a kid or anything like that…
Some people have gone into this week with a huge disadvantage of not having 1 minute of screen time before this week… but because American Idol is more about the “drama” than the actual “Search for a Superstar”… ugh…
Zap2it.com said it well:
Because of the freak show format of the audition telecasts, which generally pass over the best candidates in favor of people who show up to mug for the camera, some of the Top 24 are still a bit mysterious. Viewers have gotten only limited time with the likes of Melinda Lira, Jared Yates and the fantastically named Aloha Mischeaux. Those contestants have to be at a disadvantage to those whose stories were deemed more worthy of an elaborate package. Already, fans have been to church with David Brown, followed Vonzell Solomon on her postal route and learned more about Anthony Fedorov’s trachea than was entirely necessary.
I agree with Sarah going home, she was not very good at all… Janay should have gone before Melinda… What the hell is so special about Mikalah? She is annoying, a bitch, she’s ugly, she can’t sing… why the hell is she still there? Judd Harris was entertaining, and his performance was a lot better than most of the other guys… that other guy, Jared, he really deserved to go…
Okay… now on to good shows…
And she speaks!! Sun finally spoke English to everyone, but when she was talking to Jin in English, did he understand her? lol… that kid, Walt, he is freaky… he made the raft burn with his mind, most likely… Locke is freaky, but in a good way… he knows everything… Jack has gotten really annoying lately… the “moral” one… ugh… and FINALLY, we get Hurley’s episode next week! can’t wait…
Sark and Anna are back! I really want them to get back to the apocalypse and the battle with Sydney and Nadia and the Rambaldi stuff and all those things… lol… And there is a huge possibility that IRINA DEREVKO will be back on the season finale… I think Lena Olin might have finally given in… yay!
Today’s Watercooler entry… lol
JASMINE TRIAS’ NEW SINGLE FLYING HOME
Of course she is amazing in it… but the music sounds so fake, darn computers… but its okay, its not her album… just a single… and her voice is what’s important anyway… however, its only being released in Hawaii Taco Bells and Pizza Huts… just like Love Ko To was only released in Philippine McDonalds… I’ll have to call some family in Hawaii soon… lol
Speaking of Idols, the 24 were decided today… I’m still pissed that Sharon Galvez was cut yesterday, she had an amazing voice… very, very powerful… but oh well… I think of the 24, my early favorites are Carrie Underwood, Melinda Lira, Jessica Sierra, Anthony Federov, and Mario Vazquez… but knowing my luck since season 2, none of them will win…
And some poll at the Idol website has Clay with 59% and Diana with 20+% as people’s favorite Idol with Kelly only getting 6% and Justin Moptop getting 5%… wtf? I can’t believe people still like him… and the two latest Idols are the last two favorites… lol… looks like America made great decisions the last 2 years!
Okay… so Sawyer killed Jack’s father? Was Jack’s father the guy selling shrimp? Or the guy at the bar? Or both? I’ll have to go read some recaps tomorrow and find out… John Locke is so good… he knows everything about everything… Charlie and Claire are slowly getting back to know each other… The end was funny, showing the rest of the characters not focused on for 5 seconds… and Boone and Shannon are the least shown characters on the show… can’t wait for Hurley’s episode…
Saw some of the show tonight… A little more… gory than I knew… you saw the hole in the old guy’s head after he was shot… And Sydney and that girl fell from the top of the yacht onto a metal awning and then onto the deck… and they easily get up… gotta love Alias’ sense of realism… lol… I don’t get what happened between Sloane and Sydney at the end though… Danny and Francie… is it possible they could still be alive? If The WB’s Summerland does well, then Francie stays dead (Merrin Dungey’s on the show)… and I heard Bradley Cooper may come back, but he’s on Jack & Bobby now…
DR. PHIL’S PRIMETIME SPECIAL
I was expecting more of Dr. Phil’s angry screaming at TAR’s Jonathan & Victoria but he didn’t… he just seemed annoyed with them… nothing really came out of the “intervention”
