Unintentional Love Story (비의도적 연애담) might have a familiar story, but its refreshing approach, charming cast and solid execution make it a thoroughly enjoyable and fulfilling watch.
On the day of Gira’s coronation, his old childhood friend from the orphanage Devonica arrives to take him and the other Ohgers to Hakabaka, the land of the dead.
NBC/Peacock’s breakout reality-competition series The Traitors returned for its second season. And its first three episodes definitely deliver the same fun murder mystery shenanigans as its inaugural season. Maybe even more so.
Just as another season of the DGP is about to begin, a strange tree has appeared in the middle of Tokyo. Huge fruits begin falling to the ground and hordes of Jyamato pop out as they burst. Michinaga, Keiwa and Neon hurry out to battle the Jyamatos with Ace arriving fashionably late. But a “Final Boss” arrives to the glee of two mysterious viewers.
Available on Prime Video, the Filipino-Korean film Ultimate Oppa is a fluffy, lighthearted romantic-comedy. A simple, but sweet story that fulfills your basic rom-com needs. The film won’t break any new ground and may not be the most polished film you’ll ever see. But Bela Padilla and Kim Gun Woo share a wonderful chemistry that is more than enough to carry the film through to the predictable, but satisfying end.
Another season of sexy singles finding love on a deserted island has come and gone. It’s now become an annual event for Netflix’s Single’s Inferno to become a reliably buzzed-about series during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. And season three delivered the same not-so-guilty pleasure that can be so fun and frustrating at the same time.
For a quick, easy watch, look no further than Individual Circumstances (각자의사정). This BL drama starring MYNAME’s Kim Junkyu and Mister International Korea 2021 Han Jung Wan is a breezy and light series about two young men reconnecting after time apart and needing to deal with their unresolved feelings for each other.
It is an interesting experience for me going into Kamen Rider Geats × Revice: Movie Battle Royale seeing as how I don’t particularly care for either season involved in this movie. Or I ended up being very disappointed in both seasons by their ends. But since it’s actually a Movie War and not some random TTFC special, I will of course watch it.
And it’s a solid movie that focuses more on the strengths of the two seasons rather than their weaknesses. Thankfully.
Strong Girl Bong Soon was a popular series when it aired in 2017 and has been well-loved since. So it was no surprise when a sequel was first announced. Strong Girl Nam Soon (힘쎈여자 강남순/Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon) is essentially a loose sequel, set in the same universe as the former series. It stands on its own in many ways, but perhaps shares many of the same hurdles as well.
Thankfully, the first three episodes of season 3 show some interesting new twists that help to refresh what at its core is still a good premise.
