The Black Eyed Peas have premiered their two newest music videos for “Bebot.”
Generation One version: http://youtube.com/watch?v=PeFNDUBcrwc
This music video is a historical trip back to 1936, Stockton, California. Apl.de.Ap is one of many Filipino farmers working in the asparagus fields. After work, all they look forward to is putting on their best suits and heading towards the Little Manila section of downtown Stockton. What they find there is a party for the ages at the Rizal Social Club. Yet Apl has other ideas as he sneaks out to another “party” next door. The Black Eyed Peas all appear with significant cameos from the Filipino American community.
Generation Two version: http://youtube.com/watch?v=hp0DcffERYsBR> This modern version has the Black Eyed Peas picking up Apl.de.Ap to hit up one of the biggest Filipino American parties in town. The only problem is that Apl also has to bring his baby sister (Jasmine Trias) along for the ride. It’s a celebration of everything HOT from hot cars, hot ladies, tasty BBQ, hype dances, to the hottest house party around. Featuring cameos galore from the Filipino American community.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA SEASON FINALE TONIGHT
You don’t have to like “Star Trek” or “Star Wars” to be able to enjoy SciFi’s Battlestar Galactica. As one of the most critically acclaimed shows on all of television, “Battlestar Galactica” attracted an audience that probably never would’ve watched a “space show.”
But its combination of “The West Wing” politics, “Lost” mythology, “Days of our Lives” soap suds, and that cable series edge has propelled the show to the top of television’s elite.
Tonight will be an example of what the show really is, a drama series that happens to be set in space. The 90-minute season finale (at 10PM on SciFi) will mark the show’s biggest episode yet, and set-up the 3rd season which will begin in October.
Disney Channel Enjoys “Musical” Success
Disney Channel is enjoying the surprise success of its first original musical, “High School Musical” which premiered last month.
The original movie’s premiere was watched by more than 11 million viewers, the most in the network’s history, while the succeeding airings over the premiere weekend attracted at least 6 million each.
In addition to the huge premiere numbers, the movie’s soundtrack has surprisingly, also produced big results. It has not left the Top 2 on Amazon.com’s Best Seller list for a month, while it places at #10 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.
Several songs off the album, while not released as official singles, have placed on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart due to downloads at online music stores such as iTunes. The highest is “Breaking Free” at #4, while five other songs are in the Top 50: “Get’cha Head In The Game” (#23), “Start of Something New” (#28), “We’re All In This Together” (#34), “What I’ve Been Looking For” (#35), and “Stick To The Status Quo” (#43).
Disney Channel reportedly already has scripts ready for two sequels to the movie, which could premiere in early 2007. The success of the movie and soundtrack has been a pleasant shock for the network, which has not enjoyed such success with its recent projects in the past year and a half.
PHANTOM PLANE STILL LOST IN PHILIPPINES
Well, my little family hometown of Ballesteros, Cagayan, Philippines has always been full of stories of murderous mermaids, neighboring witches, and rain soaked white ladies walking the roads. But the newest mysterious occurrance happened last Thursday.
Apparently, residents of Barangay Sta. Cruz heard and saw a low-flying plane which soon hit some trees and then disappeared from sight. Minutes later, smoke was seen rising from the ocean waters. Since then, the Philippine Air Transportation Office has confirmed that no plane was flying in the area at the time of the crash. Also, all Philippine Air Force and all private planes have been accounted for.
The Philippine Navy and Coast Guard has been searching since Friday morning, but there have been no signs of debris that would signal a possible crash.
Aliens? Ghosts? Mangkukulams? Murderous mermaids using magic to bring planes out of the sky? Hmm… just another quiet day in Ballesteros.
And I just watched ABS-CBN’s The Correspondents and damn I was tearing up… it was so freakin’ sad to see all those old people in the “Koreksyonal,” some of them wrongly convicted… but most especially, the follow-up of the story from a few months ago about two sisters who haven’t seen each other in 20 years becuase they didn’t have money for the trip. The sister in the koreksyonal died a few weeks ago and their wish before was that they could see each other before they died 🙁 At least they were able to be granted that wish. So freakin’ sad…
AMERICAN DREAMS: THE FOURTH SEASON (if there was one)
TVGuide’s Michael Ausielo talked with American Dreams executive producer Jonathan Prince and learned what would have happened on what would have been the show’s 4th season:
J.J. and Beth: “I was going to send J.J. to Berkeley to get his sister back and, while there, get exposed to a lot of the antiwar stuff,” says series creator Jonathan Prince. “He would eventually come home and work harder on the space program. And Beth was going to go back to school to get her degree.”
Meg and Sam: “Everybody wanted them to be together, which is why I think they couldn’t,” says Prince. “I was going to give Sam a really serious girlfriend.” Meg, meanwhile, would have fallen for Joey Lawrence’s Bandstand successor, “a guy who seemed superficial on the top and ended up being deeper than that. That’s who she would have ended up with. A local guy. The least likely guy you’d figure.”
Helen and Jack: Helen was going to get busted for helping potential draftees slip off to Canada, leading to a rift between her and Jack. “They would have separated,” says Prince. “But, obviously, they would have gotten back together.

“CONTENDER” REMATCH SCHEDULED
By LJDB; August 18, 2005

|ESPN is moving full speed after saving NBC’s cancelled reality competition “The Contender” to air for a second season.|
The much-rumored rematch between finalists Peter Manfredo, Jr. and Sergio Mora has been scheduled for Saturday, October 15th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Undercard bouts are also scheduled for fellow “Contender” contestants. Alfonoso Gomez will fight Jeff Fraza while Anthony Bonsante will face Jesse Brinkley.
|ESPN will air the matches LIVE on October 15th at 8PM Pacific Time/11PM Eastern Time.|
ESPN picked up the critically acclaimed, but ratings starved series after NBC cancelled it in May. Executive producers Mark Burnett, Sylvester Stallone, and Sugar Rey Leonard actively pushed for another season with NBC, and for a time, the network considered airing rematches during the summer. However, NBC passed and they moved on to ESPN, which was reportedly an already interested party.
The network officially picked up the series last week, announcing casting would begin immeadiately for a possible April 2006 launch on the sports network.
Tickets for the October 15th fight will be available beginning Sunday by logging on to http://contender.tv.yahoo.com
